A Heated Time

After May's first contest win at Fallarbor Town, our heroes quickly arrive at Lavaridge Town for Ash's next pokemon gym battle.

Ash arrives at the gym, where a girl around Brock's age with long red hair, a tank top, and a spicy, yet clumsy attitude was there with an elderly man with curly hair and glasses.

"Ah, Ash, it's so good to see you again!" The man said, Ash smiling.
"It is Mr Moore. This time, in Hoenn. This must be Flannery."

The girl looked puzzled and asks "Grandpa, is this the Ash boy you mentioned you met at Kanto?"

The man nods and says "Indeed my granddaughter."
The others managed to come, Brock having heart eyes for Flannery, but Max yanks him away.

Flannery then says "So Ash, you up for a gym match?" Ash, who which nods at this, and goes in with everyone else.

"Before we have our match, I'm hungry. Maybe lunch first?" Flannery asks, to which Ash, Mr Moore, and Ash's friends agrees to that.

Ash takes over the kitchen and makes lunch, which consists of a fruit salad, stew, bread rolls, and malasadas for dessert.

Flannery was in heaven with Ash's cooking, as was Mr Moore. "Oh, how I missed your delicious stew Ash!" He cried, Ash clearly modest about the praise.

"My cousin is a great cook, trainer, artist, he can do so many things!" Molly said, clearly proud of Ash, to which Max chimes in with "Yeah! He's a jack of all trades!"

Ash was happy with the praise, still blushing, eating his food. Ash then said "Max, Molly, after lunch, Professor Birch and Professor Oak wanted me to give you two a test so you can become proper trainers, even if you aren't ten yet."

The two younger beings were very happy with that and speeds up on their eating.

"It seems that those two are very excited at that. And if the professors must think you two are pretty good to give you two that opportunity." Mr Moore said, Max and Molly happy with the food and the praise.

After lunch, Ash sets up a machine that Professor Birch gave him for the test Max and Molly will have.

"Ash, what's that and what's it for?" May asked, to which Ash then explains "This is for Max and Molly. First, they have to do a quiz on pokemon training and types. Then, they have to battle Professor Birch's pokemon, to which is stored in the machine. Their progress is recorded as they do it."

Max and Molly nods at this and starts the quiz. Luckily, that was the easy bit. Both of them getting a perfect score.

"Yay! We passed!" Molly cheered, Max grinning, clearly proud. "It's a good thing my cousin Ash teaches me things on pokemon." Molly said and she, along with Max gets ready for the battle.

Ash then gets eight of Professor Birch's pokemon to which he borrowed and turns to the younger trainers to be.

"Alright you two. You both use four pokemon at once. You have to beat these eight pokemon and work together." Ash explains, to which Max and Molly nods.

Ash let's out the pokemon, to which were Poochyena, Shuppet, Slakoth, Gulpin, two Ralts, Budew, and Feebas.

Max sends out Treecko, his own Ralts, Surskit, and Zigzagoon while Molly sends out Mareep, Teddiursa, Phanpy, and Skitty.

Max looks at Molly and says "Let's do this!" Molly nods in agreement.
Luckily, it didnt take long for them to win, thanks to Ash giving the two children pointers on training their pokemon.
