Infinity (BNHA X Reader)

Scene 5

Context: Shoto finally confesses to you, and you confess to him. This is after the Overhaul arc.

"But I'm glad Eri is coming." You bit down into the strawberry, leaning on Shoto's shoulder.

"She's lucky to have someone like you, you know."

You grunted. "Yeah, well, I know what it's like. A young girl like her, treated like that? She doesn't deserve it." You paused. "But, hey. I think she'll like you. You'll get along just fine. I mean, you're you, so how can she not?"

Shoto sighed. "It's not fair how much I love you."

You opened your mouth to quip back, but stopped dead in your tracks. Because, what did he just say?

"...What?" You asked, sitting up.

Shoto arched a brow. "I... love you? You... you know that, right?"

Sure, Shoto is not the best when it comes to social cues, but he thought he was being very obvious.

You went red. "But- You- I-"

"Y/N? Are you ok?"

"You love me?"

"I mean-"

You waved your hands frantically. "Wait, wait, wait. I was your first friend. Are you sure you're not confusing love for friendship?"

And, ouch, that hurt, but Shoto knew you hadn't meant it to be rude. "I'm pretty sure wanting to kiss your best friend can be considered as love."

"Kiss-?!" Your eyes blew wide."Holy fuck, I'm so dumb."

You didn't think you could get anymore red, but oh, you did.

"I'm sorry." Shoto said. "It wasn't meant to be a confession."

You looked up at him, at his heterochromatic eyes, at his perfectly split red-white hair, at the scar on his face that he hated so much, but which you thought looked beautiful, and wow.

Love.
Was this love?
You cared dearly for this boy, so much so that you'd give your life for him.

You never learned what love was, but if this is what it felt like, it may as well be the most powerful force on Earth.

"You could just forget about it, and-"

"No!" You blurted.

Your sudden outburst shocked him, but he didn't speak, allowing you to continue.

"I never... knew what love was. Romantically, at least. I never understood it because I'd never been in love. But... you... I think you taught me the meaning of that word." You smiled softly. "I love you too."

There were moments of silence.

And then Shoto burst into flames.

"Shoto!" You yelped, patting his shoulder in an attempt to put out the fire.

When they finally went out, Shoto was still blushing a crimson red. He groaned, face falling into his hands. "Oh my god, that was so cute." He mumbled.
