Cricket smiled curling protectively around the egg. Love bubbled inside her as she gazed at her egg. I wonder what he or she will look like, Cricket wondered.

Blue's wing rested over her back as he slept peacefully. Cricket relaxed, peace flooding her. I hope Bumblebee will get along with her-I hope it's a girl-but I don't mind a boy either. She thought, brushing her wings lightly over the smooth eggshell.

The egg was a small light blueish-white egg, and Cricket took it everywhere with her. I'm not being over-protective like Luna says, I just don't want anything to happen to my egg. She closed her eyes. It should be hatching tomorrow. I think. She had a feeling it would. It wasn't a describable feeling, but she just knew it was going to hatch soon, she felt it in her bones. A motherly instinct you could say.

~*In the morning*~

When Cricket awoke, the egg had slightly moved. A slight movement but it was a movement, and that's all that mattered at that moment. Cricket jolted awake, excitement coursing through her veins.

Overwhelming love flooded her as she gazed at her beautiful egg. My egg. Mine and Blue's. She smiled to herself, sliding away from Blue's wings and sat next to the light blue egg.

The egg slightly shook. A very small subtle movement, that of course Cricket didn't miss. She gently nudged Blue who awoke with a yawn.

"Cricket?" He asked, blinking at her.

"The egg! It's-I think it's hatching!" She exclaimed, looking down at it warmly.

His head snapped up, and he was beside her in an instant. A small but noticeable crack had appeared on the eggshell.

"It's hatching-" Cricket whispered.

"What do we do?" Blue asked.

"I don't know-what did we do for Bumblebee? Hm, should we take it towards the sunlight? I think that's what I'll do."

She carefully picked up the egg and carried it slowly to the living room. Bumblebee was already awake and froze upon seeing them, her talons and mouth covered in chocolate, her cheeks stuffed with food and she looked at them, frozen. She slowly put down a chocolate muffin and a white powdery donut and gulped.

The dragonet looked up at Cricket and Blue with large, innocent eyes. Blue raised an eyebrow.

"What are you doing up so earrlyyy!" Bumblebee protested. "That's not fair!"

" ... "

"Okay, fine I'll put it away-" Bumblebee said, getting up to leave.

"Your sibling is hatching." Cricket said softly.

"You can have the rest of that muffin and donut, but that's it. Okay, Bumblebee?"

Bumblebee nodded sulkily. But her eyes brightened. "Hatching? Can I watch?" She asked.

"What was I like?" Bumblebee asked, obviously excited.

"Well..." Cricket began. "You were three days early. When I...found you...I thought there would at least be three more days before you arrived, but I was wrong. Sundew was so mad." She smiled at the memory.

"I'm Sundew's favorite niece. I know secretly she likes me better than Aunt Luna and Uncle Swordtail's dragonet."

She wrinkled her snout. "He's annoying."

Cricket opened her mouth to speak, when another crack appeared on the eggshell. A sunshine gold colored snout poked out from the shell and Cricket stared at it excitedly. But the dragonet went back inside the egg, seeming to be quite shy. Definitely different from Bumblebee when she hatched.

"I wonder if the dragonet is scared..." Blue said softly.

"Maybe..." Cricket said.

"Don't be scared, we won't hurt you, I'm your mother." Cricket said sweetly.

The golden snout poked back out with a small whimper.

A golden talon poked out as well.

Bumblebee sat a bit away from the egg, staring at it.

The dragonet broke a hole big enough in the side of the egg for her to come out, so she did. The dragonet tumbled out and landed in front of her parents. She looked up at Cricket and Blue, blinking several times.

She was gorgeous. She had sunshine gold colored scales along with more dark royal blue scales, and she had bright, yellow eyes. Her body structure looked mostly like her mother's with some of her father's coloring as well. The dragonet was born with four huge, blue, butterfly wings, and that's how she got her name, Butterfly.

Cricket picked up the dragonet who blinked up at her and smiled, reaching out her talons to her mother's face.

Blue smiled down at the tiny dragonet, and with a happy smile, Cricket showed her to him, cradling her daughter in her arms. Blue gently placed his talon in his daughter's and the dragonet smiled gently.

Bumblebee flew on top of Cricket's head and gazed down at the small dragonet. "What are you going to name her?" Bumblebee asked.

Cricket and Blue exchanged glances. "What do you think she should be named, Bumblebee?" Blue asked quietly.

Bumblebee squinted down at her. "She needs something that suits her, not some random name. I want to name her...Butterfly." She said thoughtfully. "They're pretty creatures, and I think that will go well with her." Bumblebee giggled. "I'm going to be the best older sister ever!"

Cricket laughed. "Of course you will."

"I already am." Bumblebee said proudly, puffing out her chest.

Butterfly shifted her attention to Bumblebee, looking up at the HiveWing and laughing.

Cricket leaned into Blue, who put a wing around her, as Bumblebee gently took the dragonet out of her talons and held her up to the light.

"I'm going to teach her so many things."

"Can I get a pet now?"

And then Bumblebee proceeded to teach Butterfly things like how to sneak food at night and the lessons she learned from the one time Blue let Swordtail babysit her.
