⚠️ Spoilers for book 14 ⚠️I realize I write a lot about them finding the other continent but um...
"Do you think they're ok?" Cricket asked Sundew and Luna, worry in her gaze. Sundew sighed in exasperation.
"Again, Cricket, I'm sure they're FINE." Sundew grumbled. "Besides, won't the Breath of Evil need him to spread, it'd be stupid to kill or hurt him too badly."
Luna nodded in agreement, still surprised her brother had gotten infected.
"Besides! They have to be ok! We have a mission to fulfill and if they're dead I swear I'll kill them." Luna said sarcastically, trying to be funny to cheer Cricket up. Cricket was grateful for her, and it did help.
She didn't want to think about it too much. She missed Blue and Swordtail. I wonder what's going on, on Pantala at least.
Sky was chatting with Lynx and Wren was talking with Moon and Qibli. Cricket was still in disbelief that a reading monkey- no 'human,' could speak Dragon! It was the best discovery she had ever discovered. Well not only Cricket, but the other dragons knew now as well!
Sundew was annoyed and grumbled whenever Cricket mentioned it. She didn't like to admit that Cricket was right about their intelligence. Cricket didn't think she mentioned it half as much as she should. Blue would be as excited as I am. She thought. I can't wait to tell him!
She flew beside Luna, chatting with the cheerful SilkWing. "What was it like, being away from Swordtail for so long?" She found herself asking, well, more like blurting.
Luna looked at her. "It hurt. Like being pulled away from the dragons you love and not being able to know, or tell them you're ok, and know if they're ok. That's exactly what I felt." Luna said.
"What happened while I was gone anyways?" Luna blinked. "I'm sorry I caused some of this mess." Luna looked at her apologetically.
Cricket laughed nervously. "It's alright, things well, went for a turn really." She went on to explain how she met Blue, and they went to rescue Swordtail together, and how they tried to rescue Luna, but ended up meeting Sundew. She went on to talk about Blue's new, shiny wings. She told her how they went to Jewel Hive, that the Book of Clearsight was fake. She told Luna about Bumblebee and the Poison Jungle, Sundew interrupted at some parts to make sure Cricket got all the details.
Luna listened with a nod and a few murmurs of approval. "I can't believe I missed all of that!"
Cricket and Sundew exchanged glances. Sundew flew ahead, leading the way for the others, and Cricket flew behind her, lowering her voice to talk to Luna. Cricket was flying almost side by side with Qibli. She asked him about Phyrria and SandWings in general, and he answered her questions in the best way he could.
Cricket forgot she wasn't holding Bumblebee for a moment. When she remembered, she felt a pang in her heart from leaving the dragonet on Phyrria without her. I miss my home and my friends. A feeling of longing sparked in her chest.
Ocean water splashed on her talons and a breeze drifted over her scales. She was grateful for the cool air as the sun beat down on her scales, and her wings started to ache. Her wings were stiff with exhaustion, as she had already done this flight before. Not even longer than a week.
She missed her friends, family, and she missed her continent. She missed the smell of books and the comfort of the library. She felt...lost.
An island slowly appeared into view and Cricket felt a surge of relief. Finally I can rest...maybe get some sleep.. Exhaustion crept its way up to her and she sighed.
