Chapter Seventeen

A single step

It had officially been a week since the bell test, team seven had successfully completed several D rank missions, much to Naruto's annoyance until finally, it was time for a day off.

I stared in my bathroom mirror, my eyes half lidded in exhaustion and slightly discolored due to my lack of sleep. I sighed softly before shaking my head and brushing my fingers through my tangled hair, eventually settling on a messy version of my hairstyle. I gazed back at myself one more time before forcing myself to relax, taking a deep breath in before plastering on a smile. "Come on (y/n). You decided this awhile ago. You can do it. Deep breath in, deep breath out. Now stop freaking out and just go you big baby." And with that final little pep talk, I grabbed a small manilla folder from the side of my sink and pulled a small picture out, my eyes lingering on the small image as I dropped the image on the floor, speaking calmly. "Meme style- Bada da ta da bum bum!" I let out a relieved sigh when I saw the image warble like water for a moment before I took a little hop forward, my body easily dipping into the image as if it were water. As I fell through the picture, I watched with wide eyes as I easily slipped into a pitch black void, my body becoming black and white like an old movie for just a second until I was launched back out and landed face first into a slightly wet patch of bright green grass. I pushed myself to sit on my knees, lifting my head up to a jaw dropping view of a large tree with a rope hanging from it, the sun glistening through the damp leaves. I smiled softly as I nervously got onto my feet and scanned the area. "Doesn't seem like anyone is near.. alright.. let's do this.." with a firm reassuring nod to myself, I walked over to the tree and grabbed the free swinging rope and hauling myself onto it while walking up the bark of the tree, my muscles burning at the foreign action.

Finally, after what seemed like hours I managed to pull myself past the first few bunches of branches, my eyes widening at the sight of a large, vine covered tree house. I let out a shaky puff of air as I pulled myself onto a wooden landing, panting heavily. "Yup.. I definitely need to learn chakra control.." Once I was able to breath again, I followed the wooden pathway to a green painted door that I promptly opened to a small living room that had wooden walls and a white carpeted floor with a single white couch and two matching lounge chairs. I hummed to myself as I moved onto the next few room, three of which were identical. A simple wooden bedroom with carpet matching the living room, a simple bed in the corner and a wooden desk with a doorless closet. All the other rooms were typical to the average house, a bathroom, kitchen and laundry area. Surprisingly, everything was pretty spacious for being a house in a tree. The water worked and the fridge and cabinets were all fully stocked and ready. My first course of action was to make the whole treehouse more.. personal. So, I did just that. "Meme style- MTV CRIBS!" I watched as a light orange sparkle effect exploded from my hands, spreading from room to room as posters of my favorite bands, shows and movies appeared on the walls, a large flat screen TV appearing out of nowhere on top of a very long shelf, the empty spaces soon filling with movies, shows, games and even consoles. Multicolored LED lights appearing and lining the corners of the ceiling while shelves appeared on the walls, figurines of anime characters and my favorite hero's decorating them from little known hero's like Eraser head to the more popular like Endeavor and All might. Finally, the glow seemed to have finished it's job, settling into the doorways and leaving a slight glowing effect on the wood. I smiled widely at the new Tv set, rushing over to it quickly as I scanned the shelves. Tokyo ghoul, Black Butler, Sailor Moon, the shelf had it all. From Ghibli movies to Hero documentaries. Witch an excited chuckle, I searched the shelf again for something to binge, pausing slightly at an anime I've never seen before. The box was pure white except for the bold black and yellow title in a bubble font. "Huh? My Hero Academia? Never heard of that one.. eh. Let's give it a go." With a simple shrug, I plucked the box from the shelf and took out the disk, slipping it into the disk reader and watching as the screen turned black before opening up a blank white menu, giving me the option to pick an episode or play all. Without a second thought, I plopped down onto the couch and got comfy, hitting play.
