Uraraka could hear her heart shatter. It's just that- she never expected someone to have this much of Katsuki's attention.
Probably even his love. It was obvious, that they were head over heels for the other, they didn't even have to acknowledge it. Their smiles, giddy giggles and casual touches made it painfully obvious.
Uraraka had always looked up to Bakugo and thought he was strong, not just physically, but also academically. At first, she just thought it was respect or admiration. But soon, it bloomed into something better. She felt the need to have his attention at all costs. (Had even embarrassed herself on some occasions but we aren't going there)
By the time she realised, it was too late. She desperately needed him now. Was it a crush or straight-on love, Uraraka didn't know, but she wanted to befriend him.
Katsuki was always a little softer with her when compared to their other classmates. Of course, the Bakusquad received a completely different treatment, but that was because they were friends.
Uraraka genuinely thought she had a chance, if not to date Katsuki, but to at least become his friend. The more she started talking to him, receiving backlash at times, the more greedy she got. She wanted him.
Uraraka thought she was close to her goal at one point, but then this random Izuku came in. She just couldn't understand what was happening.
Where did it go wrong? Why does Katsuki like Izuku better?
"Wait- you never told them?" Izuku immediately questions, turning towards Katsuki. Uraraka then tries to tune back into the conversation.
"Not really. I didn't feel like doing it when you weren't around." Katsuki shrugs, making Uraraka frown.
"Tell us what?" Mina immediately questions, already bouncing in excitement.
"Kacchan and I are dating. We just joked about it for like 6 years, I think." Izuku explains almost falling off his chair when his phone rings loudly, "Oh shit, I should really take this call-" Izuku cuts himself off, letting Katsuki give him a small peck before walking away for a call.
"What? Is that true? I had a hunch that you were committed, but your childhood best friend? That's awesome!" Kaminari shrieks and starts laughing uncontrollably.
"Wow! Congratulations on your relationship with Bakubro! You need to give me a treat, okay?" Mina asks Izuku who nods his head with a chuckle.
Kirishima's smile disappeared upon hearing them, looking at Izuku with a soft sad smile before he shook his head and gave them a genuine smile and fist bump.
Everyone expected that, seeing how Kirishima was always behind Bakugo like a puppy, even if he was kicked and humiliated. He always came back because he liked Katsuki.
Unfortunately, Katsuki was too blind about his crush. Just like with Uraraka.
"We started dating like 6 years ago, at first it was for fun, but then we realised our feelings for each other," Katsuki says with a shrug as if it didn't matter much to him. But they could all see the slight hint of a mile.
Uraraka couldn't help but think how it would've been if she had the chance. They would've been happy too, right? Just like how he is with Izuku. Probably not anymore, he already was happy.
Soon it was the end of classes so people started filing out of the class, chatting amongst themselves. The Bakusquad were with Katsuki, as usual. The only thing that differed was that they were also waiting for Izuku.
Izuku must've been stressing out because of the call. He starts rubbing his temples softly, nodding his head at everything the other person says (as if they could see him)
"Are you good?" Katsuki asks in the softest voice possible, hearing that made Uraraka feel even sadder, her face completely dropping.
"Something urgent came up, Kacchan. I have to go, see you at dinner probably." Izuku says after the call. He gives Izuku a small peck before walking away.
Kirishima gives them a sad look before walking out, not waiting for Katsuki as usual, making the blond worry slightly. "Oi, Dumb hair! Wait!" Katsuki calls out, walking behind Kirishima who stops hearing his best friend's voice.
"Yeah?" Kirishima questions, putting on a fake smile.
"Stop faking your smile. It's obvious and looks ugly as hell." Katsuki grumbles while walking ahead. Kirishima doesn't follow him, making the latter stop and look back.
"Are you coming or what?" Katsuki questions, urging Kirishima to follow, just like usual.
"I um.. just remembered that I had some work... I'll.. see you later, yeah? Bye!" Kirishima mumbles nervously while immediately turning away and walking off.
"What's wrong with him.." Katsuki mutters, shaking his head and walking back to the dorms.
The next week has by a little hectic due to school. Every day after school, Izuku would disappear, claiming he had to meet some officials for work. The class had witnessed Katsuki try to convince Izuku to stay, but in the end, Izuku always left with an apologetic peck. Everyone was beyond surprised to see Katsuki that way, they seemed Izuku was the clingy one in the relationship, not the other way around.
Uraraka had been trying to forget the crush on Katsuki, it's just not that simple. She's hurting and she doesn't know who to talk to.
She knew she couldn't tell anything to Katsuki himself, it would ruin their relationship, and nobody wanted that. Katsuki looked so much happier with Izuku by his side.
Uraraka had been unconsciously trying to get Katsuki's attention, either it was just simply talking with him or asking doubts about homework.
She knew what she was doing wasn't right. She had to stop but she couldn't help herself. She convinced herself it was a small guilty pleasure that she would sure be able to stop.
However, Uraraka never hated Izuku.
She does talk to Izuku and plays along with him. And it wasn't only because of Katsuki, she was genuinely having fun talking to Izuku. She would still be friends with them if she could, but.. if they do something lovey-dovey in front of her. It slightly upsets her. She would immediately look away or bite her lips when that happened.
She wasn't a monster though.
"Um, Bakugo? Could you pass Mina's notebook?" Uraraka asks, her voice as hesitant as ever.
Katsuki looks behind to see Mina holding out her notebook at him. He passes it over to Uraraka who accepts it with a grateful smile.
Katsuki was as oblivious as ever. Uraraka thinks it's better that way.
She then starts talking to Tsuyu about the homework, not giving much thought to Katsuki. She was finally ready to let go of him, it was just a tiny crush after all.
