The sun had set as the female walked to a building's roof. She sat down dangling her legs over the edge, she looked up to the sky with a large smile. "Isn't it amazing? If I... if the accident had never happened, I'd have walked down in a white gown marrying you." she talked to herself as if her fiance was there beside her. Slipping one glove from her hand, she looked down to the pavement underneath her. "Such a sad ending too. You stood too close to the edge while we danced. Losing your balance you fell to your ultimate death. While in the hospital, the morning fiance took off for her home. The doll you kept by your side shattering with heartbreak." the girl tilted her head back as she poured a glass of champagne. "To your death." the female snickered to herself before the echo of another's footsteps distracted her.

"For a mourning finance you sure don't seem to be upset (Y/n)." the voice of her brunette friend echoed through her ears. Giving a soft chuckle, she nodded. "It's not unusual for females in your position to off their husbands. Why didn't you wait until you were married? All that money would have been yours." Dazai walked beside her and sat dangling his legs on the edge.

"I don't know what you mean Dazai. We truly were dancing in the rain. Atop his mansion roof which lacked a fence. We danced until he slipped from my fingers." her eyes held nothing but a pure innocent look. Chuckling to himself, Dazai grabbed the bottle and poured himself a drink.

"Think we would die if we jumped down?" Dazai tilted his head as he asked the question. (Y/n) shook her head with a heavy sigh. "It would be so cliche and painful." Dazai sighed, running a hand through his hair.

"I've attempted several ways, yet my body heals the wounds too easily. Being shot won't kill me. Falling to my death doesn't work. Hanging also doesn't work. It's just pure pain." Dazai let a soft chuckle leave his lips as he looked to the female beside him.

"You haven't told me much about your fiance. Is there a reason you hide so much?" Her glittering eyes glanced at him, then the moon.

"Pain, I avoid it because of the pain. Remembering those years is nothing but a miserable pain. It hurts more than what it's worth. I want to forget it all. I'm 21, you're 22. We deserve to leave the pain behind us. Why else would an ex-executive be working in an agency full of detectives? Surely not for amusement or because he was bored. It's to pay a dying wish and forget the pain." laying back the female stared into the emptiness of the sky.

"There was always something that bugged me about you. Since we met you've always made me slightly cautious around you. You look like a doll, but you're a huntress without empathy. You wish for death without knowing why. Or, do I read you wrong?" a soft laugh left the (s/t) female's lips. Her (e/c) eyes reflected the moonlight as they looked into it.

"When you have intelligence like ours and are brought up in the slums, you tend to forget what being human is like. Chuuya used to complain daily about how you nagged him. When we drank he said many things about how he hated your intelligence. I'd receive text after text about how much of a complete jerk you were to him. You two still went out for drinks though. If I had stayed in Yokohama, I may have joined Chuuya." she mumbled sitting back up.

"We really are alike. Drunk chuuya is quite the blabbermouth. He went on and on about you. He'd point out the things he couldn't stand to. Like the suicidal jokes."  Silence took over the two people as the wind passed. The female tugged her glove back on as Dazai opened his mouth to speak again. "Were the two of you... in love." clasping her hands together (Y/n) shook her head softly.

"We grew up together, well in a way that is. I met Chuuya a few years before my parents were found dead. He helped me stand up for myself at the small age of ten. I never joined the sheep because I wanted to be a detective. I helped him out through the years though." Dazai nodded a small smile crossing his lips.

"I haven't felt this comfortable talking to another since my friend Oda passed." Dazai glanced at her watching a soft smile spread over her face.

"I had to be perfect for my fiance. If not, he punished me." Dazai reached out to the female with a slight tint of pity. Something he wasn't used to feeling.

"Why didn't you invite Chuuya out tonight?" Dazai asked, letting his hand touch hers slightly.

"I didn't want to worry him. I'm not myself tonight. The memories from those years are pressing against my head. The last time I was a bit emotional and getting drunk, Chuuya figured out what he had done to me. I probably dropped a glass and froze up. You know, I probably forgot that I was with Chu and not him." Dazai nodded once again before she finished her explanation. "I was late to work because I was hungover," Dazai remembered that day. They had both caused hell for Kunikida. It was weird to think it had already been a month since the female before him had joined the agency.

"Do you ever use bandages? To hide the scars?" Dazai seemed to be prying into her tonight. Yet, she didn't stop or refuse the questions.

"I used to, but they're a pain in the ass to wrap. I never learned how to use them properly since I've never needed them." dazai pulled out a roll from his pocket causing the female to lightly laugh. "I swear, you come up with the weirdest predictions Dazai." He simply chuckled lightly, grabbing her arm, he pulled the glove a few folds down. Pulling the sleeve of her shirt up, he stared at the scars. Clicking her tongue, the female sighed but didn't pull away.

"If you do this, it stays tight and you don't have to wrap all the way to your shoulder and wrist." Dazai's hands worked skillfully. Wrapping the first edge over twice, so it was neatly tucked in. He rolled it up to the middle of her arm, creating two layers with the bandage he tore the end, tucked it inside, and tied it off. "See, it's quick and not a pain." the female looked at the white cotton and smiled.

"Maybe I'll start using them over my legs, so I can wear shorter socks. It does tend to get warm here in the summer." Dazai chuckled with a nod. Letting the female wrap her other arm, he watched silently. She seemed to learn relatively quickly. She messed up a few times and restarted, but eventually, she managed to figure it out.

"Chuuya is going to murder me for this." Dazai snickered as he leaned back on his hands.

"You'd welcome that if it were painless." (Y/n) hummed listening to the laugh escape Dazai's lungs.

"I suppose I would," Dazai whispered as silence overtook the rooftop again. He didn't keep track of when the female fell asleep, but when he noticed he picked her up brushing a loose strand from her face. His eyes softly glancing over her. He carried her back to her apartment and laid her on her bed. "It bothers me how alike we can be." Dazai found himself wanting to know more about her. Something he had never been interested in.
