Waking up the next morning, the female held her head. "Great, I'm hungover." looking to the ceiling, she stood up and walked to the kitchen. Last night was slightly blurry, she remembered dancing and having fun along-side Chuuya, but she had blacked out from having a bit too much to drink. Her eyes traveled around the kitchen, eventually seeing the paper Chuuya had left. She read it over, closing her hands into fists. "Guess he figured that out," she grumbled, grabbing water and Motrin. She popped the pain-killers and downed two glasses of water before heading to the shower. Stepping into the warm water, she heard her phone go off. Sighing, she reached behind the curtain to grab the phone. Flipping it open, she pressed the answer button. "Morning Dazai," she grumbled with a slight yawn.
"Please hurry up. Kunikida is grumbling because you're over two hours late for work today (Y/n)! He's even more on my case about working." The whiny tone in his voice made the female's smile spread over her lips. The sound of water echoing through to the other side of the line. "Did you just get up?" Dazai asked, listening to the female snicker. Nodding her head as if he'd be able to see her, she hummed her answer. "I'm gonna die of all this work." Dazai huffed, earning another light laugh from the (h/c)-haired female.
"Well then, good job Dazai." hanging up the phone, she placed it back on her clothes. Running the soap through her hair, she looked down at her arms and legs. Sighing, she rinsed her hair and washed her body. After finishing the shower, she wrapped her hair in a towel and dried herself. Sliding on the usual work-outfit, she spun around happily. Grabbing her bag, she headed off towards the agency.
Stepping inside, she was immediately bombarded by Dazai jumping behind her with a childish whine. "He's gonna kill me (/Yn)-chan." rolling her eyes, she stuck her tongue out and pushed Dazai away. "So cruel." he hummed standing up straight and towering over her. "I just noticed, you haven't grown a single inch," he smirked walking away.
Batting her eyes, the female took in his observation. Her eyes turned to glares as she rushed after to hit him over the head. "You did not just call me tiny! Dazai, I swear I am going to kill you for that!", laughing Dazai ducked under the table avoiding her fist. The blond male, who sat at his desk neatly stapling papers and signing them, grabbed two books from the desk and tossed them effortlessly. The first one hit Dazai over the head. The next nearly hit (Y/n), however, it ended up missing her when she stepped out of the way. Shutting her eyes, she placed her hands to her ears and wiggled her fingers as she stuck her tongue out. "Missed me!" she hummed before walking around aimlessly for a moment.
"Why, why do you have to disturb my schedule as Dazai does." kunikida's frustrated tone slipped out as he continued to fill papers out a bit faster than before, as if catching up on the few lost seconds. Rolling her eyes, the female walked up to the male, who she'd not yet interacted with. She pulled out a box of pocky and held it to him.
"I noticed you like sweet things, so I came with a gift since we haven't formally interacted." smiling brightly, she edged it to the male who looked up from whatever doodling he was doing on the blank sheet of paper. Raising a brow, he looked her up and down. Passing her a treat in return, he spoke.
"Ranpo, the best detective ever." he smiled lightly, watching the female take one of the gummy's and place it in her mouth.
"I'm (Y/n). It's nice to finally introduce myself to you Ranpo." Ranpo merely nodded shyly. "So how long does it take for you to solve cases?" She was trying to break the ice between them and this surely seemed to hit the jackpot.
He looked up with a very confident smile as he leaned back kicking his legs onto the desk. "Anywhere from two seconds to a minute. I can solve even the most complex cases." looking at him with awe (Y/n) giggled.
"That's amazing! Does your ability allow you to do that? You must get a ton of praise!" her smile warmed the room along-side her words. Nodding, Ranpo opened his squinting eyes lightly.

Over the next few weeks, she'd show up with snacks she bought on the way here. Sometimes it would be honey-dipped buns, other times donuts or other pastries. As those weeks went by she began to feel comfortable with her current life. She grew closer and closer to Dazai, who showed her the ropes and how to get around having to do so much paper-work. He would talk about suicide here and there. The more time she spent around him the more she noticed just how obsessed with the concept he was.
"Have you heard of using a well to drown?" she had asked, but it turned out he already knew of the method. Falling into the well and sitting in the bucket until it filled up and you dropped down into its abyss. He'd even tried it but found it wouldn't be peaceful and painless. So he'd scratched such an idea from his list of methods.
She found herself starting to grow more comfortable with what she wore around them. The memories assorted with certain styles were slowly overridden with ones from the agency. She still refused to touch the baby doll style dress's. The dresses her fiance adored on her hungry form. The way the skirt ruffled and the sleeves puffed. The way the lace gloves matched so smoothly to the dresses shook her with memories. She'd started to wear a white skirt lined with black at the brim. There was even a pink bow on the back of the skirt. Her top remained a sleeved shirt, but the collar ruffled, as did the end of her sleeves. The elastic at the end kept her arms hidden from view. She had cut her hair and wore it in a braid now. Her legs were covered by the same socks she had been given. Her smile was present more often than not. Her eyes never faltered from their gleam. She was able to eat normally again. Her body no longer appeared starved and frail. She snacked a lot when she was on break. Often talking to Ranpo about new flavors.
Nights where she knew there was no work the next day were spent at bars getting drunk with Chuuya. They spent as much of their off time together as they could. He tended to stop by her apartment to check on her. He was glad to see her wearing clothes he was used to seeing her in.
It had been nearly a month since she joined the agency and walked back into Chuuya's life. His own friends at the mafia had noticed how his mood improved slowly. He was more laid back and drank less on the job.
