Over the next two years, she spent her time in the shadows. Her location never slipped from her mouth. Nobody knew if she was alive, dead, or injured. If it were not for the occasional letter she'd probably have been mistaken for dead. She waited three months for her first assignment. She'd killed them with no mercy or remorse. It had been relatively easy for her to learn and kill. With the extra time she had (Y/n) would find other jobs to complete. At the end of the first year, she'd made a name for herself. Using the blood money she earned, she bought herself a smaller scaled mansion. She'd sold some of the jewels she'd stolen or earned from assassinations. The only thing she couldn't buy was an early release from Nine. Humming to herself, the small female looked into one of the ballroom mirrors. Her eyes narrowed as she touched the scar between her eyes. She'd been shot on one of her missions. The bullet had gone straight through her skull. The only reason she was alive could be linked to her ability. Her time had sped up to instantly heal the pierced flesh before any permanent damage. Sadly she couldn't escape the scar. Puffing her cheeks out, she pulled her cell phone out, deciding to see what they were saying about her latest kill.

Dazai sighed leaning back as he yawned. "Ranpo, you should help out with this case. It's been a whole year since this serial killer showed up." Kunikida, the blond and highly moral male, spoke up.
"Assassin Kunikida. We've been over this. This series of murders are unlinked. Also, it's been over a year. These cases share similarities with the murder that happened just before (Y/n) dipped for hiding." Dazai waved his hand looking to Ranpo, who was too focused in his magazine to listen to them.
"The case seems boring. Plus, getting involved with assassins gets tricky. One usually leads to more." Ranpo peeked from the paper to share his thoughts. "I only do the work that seems fun." sighing kunikida began to look over the file again.
"The only tiny bit of evidence we had led to a dead end. They might not even be male!" Kunikida appeared frustrated before hearing two people agree with that statement.
"Probably female, from what we've heard they're quiet, smart, agile, and most likely have an ability that sucks people's life dry." Dazai tapped his pen to his notebook, looking up to another desk.

As months passed, the cases began to pile up. This assassin was making her way quickly around jobs. A year and a half had gone by since (Y/n) left. (Y/n)'s letters started to come by less often. They took this as a sign she was coming back soon. She had said within two years. So much had changed in the agency since she left. They had new members, strong ones too. "Hey Dazai is this case still unsolved?" a white-haired male with purple to gold eyes spoke up. Tapping his pen to his desk.
"Hm? Oh, yeah the assassin's case. We've been going at it for a while. It got pushed to the side, I guess." rubbing the back of his neck, the brunette walked over. "Though, I think I already solved it. Partly that is, I can't say for sure if what I think is right or not. One of our older members is probably involved." the younger male looked up to Dazai questioningly. "Something not making sense Atsushi? Right, you never met (Y/n)."
"Who's that?" Atsushi asked as he tilted his head.
"You'll meet her eventually. You only just joined, it's barely been a week since you joined, so just be patient." Dazai patted the smaller boy's head as he walked back to his own desk.

As two years after her leave came to be, the agency waited for a response. In the past half-a-year, they heard no updates from their friend. Dazai hid it well under his monotone expression, but something was bugging him. He'd grown to enjoy her company while she was here. He'd gone as far as trying to get to know her. The sudden appearance of a group of London assassins, her sudden need to hide, her lack of communication, this new assassin... none of it made any sense. It appeared the reason Ranpo refused to take action was due to the lack of evidence to go off of. Normally Dazai could make out what would happen. This included the where and why. Ranpo could solve any case he set his mind to so why was this one so difficult? The use of an ability to commit a murder without evidence outside the body made finding who did it impossible. Because it was an assassin, the victims did not match up. There was no way to predict who would be killed. Even when a trap was set and a job left out, they had not fallen into the trap. Not only was this person deadly, but they knew how to play mind games.
Dazai walked around glancing at the female's desk. "Any news?" Kunikida asked, as he walked by, a cup of coffee in hand.
"Nothing, she's made no move to contact us. The assassin has been awfully silent too." Dazai hated to think the thought, but it had crossed his mind once or twice. "You don't think she knows the assassin on a personal level? Could it be one of the London assassins from before?" the question slipped from Dazai's lip as he sketched scribbles onto a sticky note.
~
(Y/n) sighed looking up at her ceiling. "They are so gonna kill me for suddenly showing up after nearly seven months of no contact." sitting up, the female shook her head.
Dialing the familiar number she had memorized, she waited.
~
When his phone rang, Dazai made everybody in the agency shut up. He got Kunikida to stop scolding Atsushi and Kyoka. "A little over two years?" Dazai hummed a small smile lifting the corner of his lips as he leaned back in his seat. Placing the phone on speaker, he leaned his head on his hand.
"Yeah, I needed a little more time. Good news, though. Give me like eight minutes and I'll be pulling up to work." Kunikida sighed as he sat down at his desk.
"You've got a long stack of papers to catch up on." a heavy groan could be heard from the other side of the line.
"You're so mean Kunikida-kun!" the childish pop to her voice spread a familiar warmth throughout Dazai.
"I have an important question to ask when you get here (Y/n)-chan!" dazai hummed childishly.
"Dazai, I will beat you." Kunikida glared.
