Chapter Nineteen: The Hunt

Xavier's P.O.V

Instantly my heart pounded at that noise. I began to feel pain in my back legs, I shift and took off towards Jennifer. I felt them gain more pain when I passed the tree line and picked up my speed.

I sniff everywhere for any sign of Jennifer... but there is nothing... I began to look frantically, when I saw a pool of broken bones, blood and mushed skin. A cold chill shot through my body. It smelt of Jennifer...

The closer I got, the stronger another scent got. When I reached the corpse, I sigh of the relief washing over me. It was Ashley.

I hear a twig snap from behind me and my body stiffens as I turn to face my intruder. I saw nothing.

I growled at whatever was watching me. I could feel it... I could feel it's eyes.. but where was it?

I looked up in the trees, bright yellow eyes, and sitting on a thick shades branch, was a weretiger... a panther to be exact. I growled. It purred. It leaped from the branch and disappeared.

As I watch to where the panther took off, I'm caught by suprize when Gabe pops out of no where, "That's Selen..." his voice echos through my head, "Selen?" He nods, "Shes been following us for days... I've been tracking her," I snarl in her direction and turn away back to the pack house.

Two weeks.. two fucking weeks without my Jennifer... I'm growing restless, angry all the time, not seeing clear.

And that... that.. Selen... shes been everywhere! I'm growing annoyed of her. Just yesturday I was going to the training room to remove stress and anger, and she way there! Her black panther, always where I don't want her to be. She even just looked at me, purred and jumped out the window. Weretigers... annoying pests.

I'm caught away from my train of thought when a small figured tiger barrels into my legs. He looked at me with sad eyes. Caleb. Ever since Jennifer has dissppeared, and me busy as Alpha all the time, he been picked on, which I regret. Nic has been out for days looking for Jennifer, as is Gabe, so I have no one to watch him.

I hear a bunch of thudding that soon came to a halt at the end of the hall, I raise my gaze to the 3 small boys in my mist. They instantly turn away from my stare. Caleb growled at their direction, I then turn my gaze to him, he looked away.

I growl softly at the pups in from of me, "What..  is going on.." the oldest of the three spoke up, quite boldly, "He's not one of us Alpha, he dosnt belong here," My growl got louder,"He is your Lunas son, my step son and you dare disrespect him? You boys WILL leave him alone.. do you understand?" Slightly raised my voice at the end. They all said in rythum, "Yes Alpha," as they turn away to leave I speak up, "If I hear anymore of this, then you boys will be punished. Never treat a pack member like this again," they sigh, "Yes Alpha," I hate being big bad Alpha but c'mon.

I reached down and picked up my little fur ball. He curled around my neck and weeped. I nearly jumped when I heard his tiny voice, "I want mommy..." I sigh and pet his lightly, "Me too bud.. me too," I walk to my office and by now Caleb has fallen asleep.

It's been 3 hours and I'm out on a run as my wolf. I have been thinking like crazy. But finally it came to me. I take off down the trail into a small meadow, I shifted back before I reached the tree line and grabbed some shorts form a tree cubby, and step put into the green grass..

As I make my way to the center, I shout, as loud as I can, "Selen!" I wait and nothing.. I shout again, "SELEN!" Still nothing.. I fall to my knees as my face gets a bit cold. I feel my face to feel something wet on my face when I realize I'm crying. I yet but a whisper, "Selen... please.." there was just silence..

I nearly jumped out my skin when a twig snapped. I look in the direction to see that same black panther stalk out of the woods... Selen...
