SCHOOL FINISHES FOR THE summer as Darcie is relieved. Prom had been a blast in more ways then Darcie could comprehend. She had been over the moon with Callum as the boy had been nothing but a sweet dream throughout the dance. Come to the afterparty, Callum had gone back to being a little shy but had still had a good time.
Now, Darcie is currently chilling in her backyard, wondering what the summer will bring for the four of them. Rochelle is already packing for college, where she would be heading to the University of Washington. It wasn't far but Darcie can't comprehend the thought of Rochelle leaving. Rochelle, too, was struggling since Sam and Leah had recently broken up, where the thought of college leaves Rochelle feeling bad about leaving her friend during her heartbreak.
"'Sup, Darcie," Quil greets the girl, joining her out the back of her house.
Behind him, Embry and Jacob follow, where the two smile warmly at the girl.
"What you doing?" Embry asks, sitting on the balcony steps next to Darcie as Bruno comes trotting over for attention. Like always, Embry's hand falls onto Bruno's belly and sneaks her dog a treat without getting him to sit first. Sensing her glare, Embry mumbles: "Sorry, Darc, I forgot again."
"You spoil him, Em," Darcie complains, rolling her eyes, and then she returns to his question. "I've been thinking about the future," Darcie admits. "I might try to get a job at the local vet clinic."
"Go for it," Jacob tells her.
Darcie smiles. "Yeah, I need something on my college applications."
"You would love it," Embry says, then puts on a baby voice as he talks to Bruno: "wouldn't she, Bruno?" The dog barks. "That's right!"
"That's still like a year and a half away," Quil points out. "Can you believe we'll be juniors next year?"
"It's crazy," agrees Embry.
"Who'd have thought we'd make it?" Jacob says, laughing.
"Don't say that," Darcie frowns at her friend. "Now something will go wrong."
"Nah, why would it?" Quil shakes his head. "Unless... the steroids club continues."
"Sorry — the what?" Darcie stares at Quil with wide eyes.
"Latest developments," Embry explains, turning to Darcie as Bruno starts begging Jacob, who happily strokes Darcie's dog. Bruno's face brightens as Quil takes a seat, patting Bruno's head as Darcie shakes her head at her dog's needy behaviour. "Jared went missing and has returned to Sam's side like some minion."
"Oh?" Darcie's brows furrows. "So steroids club is..."
"Because Jared's changed like Sam," Jacob explains. "It's like he's a completely different person."
"Oh, shit," Darcie realises. "Don't tell me Jared has a tattoo, too."
"Yep," Embry almost laughs at her reaction. "So they have some cult thing going on—"
