DARCIE CAN'T HELP BUT SIT IN shock. While Callum is focused on driving, his eyes occasionally flicker to her, but even he is at a loss on what to say. What is there to say?

"Is it me?" Darcie eventually questions.

"What?" Callum's eyes fall on Darcie, startled. "Darcie, I don't know how Sam does this, but this isn't your fault in the slightest."

Darcie's heart aches with her bottom lip wobbling as she fights the urge to cry again. Embry had said those words to her before; had promised that he would never leave her as Rochelle had, but it hadn't taken him long. As soon as Darcie had given him her heart, Sam had snatched someone she loved again.

"I have to call Tiffany," Darcie realises.

"I'm here in whatever way I can help, Darcie."

"Thank you, Callum," says Darcie. "I-I'm sorry I dragged you into this."

Callum smiles with a small, sad one. "That's what friends are for, right?"

Friends also didn't leave.

If Darcie let Callum any closer again, would he leave too?

Darcie pulls out her phone, clicking on Tiffany's number as her heart squeezes tightly. The device rings before Tiffany picks up as Darcie's certain she's going to be sick.

"Darcie? Have you found Embry?"

Letting out a shaky breath, Darcie replies: "I have."

There's a long pause.

"Is he okay?" Tiffany asks, sounding terrified just as Darcie is to share the news.

"Tiffany..." the tears fall down Darcie's cheeks again as she rests her head against the glass window. "Embry's with Sam."

"Sam? Why is he with Sam?"

"I don't know but he's changed," Darcie's voice breaks. "Embry believes that he has no choice and that Sam is helping him."

"Right, that does it," Tiffany decides, becoming angry. "I'm calling your father. Whatever is going on, our children are not being muddled in this. Are you alone, Darcie? Or are the guys with you?"

"Callum's with me," says Darcie. "I'm gonna message the guys to come over."

"I'll stay however long you want me to," Callum offers.

"Okay, go home, but don't be alone," Tiffany tells her. "Tell me everything that's happened, Darcie. Then we'll figure this out, okay? Embry will come home. Rochelle too."

No matter how much Darcie wants to believe in those words, she knows it's far from the truth. However, this feels out of her hands now, so maybe the two adults could figure out a way to stop Sam from manipulating their children, but all Darcie does is seem to make things worse. They saw Darcie as a monster — a Changeling child — so all she did is push those she loved away.
