ON MONDAY, DARCIE'S SURPRISED that she's already been home for a week. Though, as fast as time is going, she still has so much to figure out. With Victoria still a problem, Darcie needs to find a way for her to be home without any suspicion.

For that, she unfortunately needs to manipulate the minds of the police department.

For that, she needs Karina — as well as Bella's permission.

Yet, that morning, the four Faerie's are sitting within Rochelle's kitchen along with most of the pack. Embry and Quil are bickering over a game as they eat with Darcie's three guards watching them with clueless expressions.

"The magic you have makes no sense," Riven says, struggling to keep up with the conversation. "You can see things that are not really there, but you claim it is not magic."

"I'll show you what a videogame is," Quil offers. "If you like."

"I would like nothing more," Riven says with a smile.

"You humans are strange," Cersi states.

"Surely we must have similarities too," Rochelle comments.

Cersi's head tilts to the side, eyes narrowing at Darcie's sister. "If you thought that, then you would not have seen Naila any differently."

Rochelle's face falls, irises glistening with tears.

Across the table, Paul and Jared exchange a look before their heads turn towards Sam, who doesn't look happy at all. With the presence of the Fae, the pack are silent, tiptoeing around their guests. They were really going to screw up their chances of peace before they even got to talk to the elders.

"Cersi," Darcie warns.

"I do love the honesty of the Fae," Leah says, keeping her arms folded across her chest.

Darcie had not expected it, but Leah and Cersi had gotten on the most so far.

"Leah, enough," Sam tells her, and then his eyes are on Cersi. "Your honesty is appreciated, but you do not have to upset Rochelle in the process."

"I'm not upset," Rochelle confesses, forcing a smile, though no one needs the Fae to point out the lie. "Cersi's right."

With all eyes on Rochelle, the girl turns, not liking attention — especially since she's conscious of the three scars running down the side of her face. Rochelle disappears to the kitchen, busying herself. As Darcie stands to go after her, so does Sam.

"Wait," Darcie tells him. "I should talk to Rochelle."

Sam looks torn, eyes flickering from Darcie to her sister.

"You won't..."

"No, Sam," Darcie reassures him, suppressing her own sigh. After all this time and he's worried that they'll keep fighting? "I'm tired of all the arguing. I just want to talk to Rochelle."
