Finally, Friday rolled around! About time. I walked home with Ponyboy, and Two-Bit and Johnny went home. Soda and Darry were at work, so we got the house to ourselves.
"Do we have any homework?" Ponyboy asked, "I can't remember."
"No," I answered, "for once."
Ponyboy chuckled. He flipped through the channels on the television. He finally found something that looked remotely interesting, and he left it on.
"Do you want a Coke?" He offered.
"Sure."
He handed me a Coke and we sat down. He sat down at the corner of the couch, and I leaned up against him. I rested my head on his shoulder, and we watched the movie. All of a sudden, everyone came piling in at once, startling us. I immediately jumped off of Ponyboy and sat at the other corner of the couch.
Soda and Steve sprinted in, hooting and hollering. Darry came in making sure the two didn't break anything. Two-Bit came in arguing with Johnny about Mickey Mouse, and Dally strolled in, smoking a cigarette.
Nobody seemed to notice that we were cuddling together on the couch, which is good. Me and Pony exchanged a glance of relief.
A second later, we heard Two-Bit screaming. He grabbed Johnny by the collar of his shirt and held him up against the wall.
"You say that one more time and I stick my switch blade right into your neck, ya hear?" He threatened.
"Hey! Two, lay off the kid!!" Darry shouted.
Everyone started shouting at Two-Bit, and they helped Johnny down. Darry sat Johnny down on the couch, and scolded Two-Bit.
"What were you thinking? You can't do that to him, he's just a kid!"
Two-Bit rolled his eyes.
"What did he even do?" I asked.
"He said Mickey Mouse was just a cartoon for 3 year olds!"
That got everyone to start cracking up. Even Johnny.
A little while later, everyone calmed down a little and were sitting in the living room. Me, Pony and Johnny were sitting on the couch, Steve and Soda on the floor, and Darry was in the chair. Dally and Two-Bit stepped outside for a smoke.
Soon, they came back in and we all bummed around the living room. We were joking around and watching Mickey Mouse. Two-Bit kept shooting glares over at Johnny.
"I'm bored. What do y'all want to do?" Dally asked.
Everyone shrugged their shoulders.
"I know what Pony wants to do," Steve teased, smirking at Ponyboy.
I glanced over at Ponyboy, who was staring at me again. He looked away, embarrassed, and shoved his face into a pillow.
"Stop it, Steve!" I shouted, blushing.
"I got an idea," Dally said, "let's play truth or dare!"
"Yeah!" Steve shouted.
Everyone seemed to be excited. Everybody was shouting and jumping around. I was pretty nervous, because I knew everyone was going to ask about me and Ponyboy.
"I'll go first!" Two-Bit volunteered.
"Okay," everyone mumbled.
"Johnny, truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"Do you really think Mickey Mouse is a cartoon for little kids?"
Everyone started laughing.
