The next morning I woke to birds cheering, and went to the window to take in the fresh air. It smelt good - I hadn't felt fresh air in a long time. It was only mild, not boiling, not freezing - just a gentle breeze.
I thought about last night. Was it true, could I be the only thing he really wanted? Me? I sighed as I remembered he was only acting this way because of my voice - and it actually hurt. Why could he not feel like that for real, like John had? Why did John have to go and turn into a flipping vampire?
I had so many questions, but no answers. Every time I thought there was no reason of which I knew - no trails, no clues. Oh, why did life have to be so puzzling?
2 woke up, and I realised 5 wasn't in her bed.
"where's 5? She wasn't here last night, or tonight-"
"she got eliminated," 2 sighed. "she only got 2 questions right. So upsetting. We still have her number, though."
I ran to my phone and called. She picked up immediatly.
"hello?"
"5! Are you OK?"
"6! Yes, I'm fine - can we call each other by our real names now I'm out of the completion? Mines April, by the way."
I felt tears threatening to spill. "that's such a beautiful name! If only Damien would let me use it... mines Amelie."
"I heard you're date with Damien went well last night?"
I blushed. "it wasn't a date-"
"oh really? Macy was spying on you last night - she said you came back and he told you you were the only thing he wanted."
"who's Macy?" I asked, my brow furrowing.
"2"
I turned and glared at her, but she just laughed.
"anyway, you know enough about the competition - what's going on with you?"
"I'm on my way home to see my mum and dad and baby brother Tim - he's only 4. I've been missing him so much. I'm on the train now, almost there. I'm going to surprise them."
"lucky you," I told her. "getting to see your mum's smile again..."

April
"don't be so upset!" I told her. I knew Amelie was so small and tender - she didn't act it, but she was easily broken.
It was so nice to be able to call her 'Amelie' instead of '6'. It was such a beautiful name, one I hadn't yet heard of. It sounded Japanese. Cute, in a way.
"anyway - you get Damien, right? I sure do miss him..."
I didn't want to play love-sick puppy again, but I knew Damien and Amelie were right for each other. Even their their names sounded in sync.
"I don't want Damien..." she told me. "I mean, yeah, I won't lie to you - for a second tonight I thought I did, but... April, I have to tell you something. My voice has this kind of power of men. It makes them want me. The only reason Damien really likes me is... it's because of my voice."
I heard tears from the other end of the phone, Macy patting her on the back.
"don't cry, Amelie. If Damien isn't right for you, he won't choose you, and you'll be home. Don't worry."
"OK," Amelie told me, "I'll talk to you later, OK?"
I nodded, realised she couldn't see me and muttered OK before hanging up. The train pulled up at the station and I got out, breathing in fresh air. I made my way down my busy street, people staring at me because I hadn't be seen in 8 days (authors note : I am just realised I made things complecated. They had 4 days to freshen up before the first challenge.). I made my way to the little white house at the end of the street, the one I knew so well.
I rang the doorbell and waited. My mum appeared at the door. She burst out in tears when she saw me, and my father appeared with Tim around his leg.
"April?" Tim asked, and I burst out in tears along with my mother. "it's OK, Timmy. Everything's OK." and I made my way inside, ready to tell them the whole story.

John
I had my plan set, and it had gone well. As soon as the prince came out, ringing a bell, requesting strong men to help him with his potentials. I disguised myself and instantly remembered him as the man who'd taken Amelie away. I boiled with rage but stayed calm as I ran through the plan.
"I'd like to join your crew," I told him, trying to sound as gentleman as was possible.
He looked me up a down. "you look good. Can you ballroom dance?"
I'd gone to lessons with Amelie. She looked so cute in that little pink, fluffy dress...
"yes. I can dance quite well."
"good. I will take you. You will be given a potential to dance with. Of course, I will richly pay you for this service."
"thank you, sir." I bowed and left. Now all I needed to do was practice... and get my girlfriend back.
