Chapter 31 : Escape

Amelie's POV

I sat in my room alone, waiting for John to appear and tell me what I had to do - I didn't want him to do all the work, getting me out of here when it was me who got myself into this in the first place.

When someone did come, it wasn't John - it was Jamie.

"get out," I growled, not only because I hated him but because if John came back in and Jamie was still here, things would go VERY wrong.

"relax," he smirked. "Just here to... talk."

"what about?" I asked, because I just had to get this over with.

"about you ands me."

"there's nothing to talk about," I scowled at him. "because there is no 'you and me'."

"love," he stepped forward. I didn't like how close he'd made himself but I had to show that I wasn't his puppet, and I DEFIANTLY wasn't scared or him.

"there could be." he leaned in and kissed me, and I was just too shocked. I didn't kiss back - why would I? But I didn't pull away. I stood frozen, and my eyes grew huge.

He pulled away, and I just stated at him. "what the hell, Jamie!"

"you didn't pull away," Jamie snarled, "shows you like me."

"I was in a state of shock!"

"of course," he grinned and shut the door behind him. I snarled and turned to the window, my arms crossed, and to my shock John was there, pulling himself up.

"what are you doing?" I stared, shocked.

"a man named Adam once came here. He killed a girl and went back out of this window, and he was never caught. Actually," he grinned. "I believe he killed that young man there's soul mate."

His grin turned into a growl. "he probably thinks you like him. Don't worry, Amelie - I'll have you away from here now, just do as I say."

He picked me up, bridal style, and I glared at him. "I have legs, you know. They work perfectly fine."

He laughed. "but you can't fall long distances."

I turned to him and stared. Surely he didn't mean-?

He stood on the window ledge and I gulped. We landed with a thump, and I screwed up me eyes. Had it hurt John? If it did, he didn't show it.

It was in that moment that John used every vampire sense I could imagine him to have. He sniffed for guards, and when he didn't smell anything he went forward, but there was a guard walking towards us.

He was far away, so wasn't in range of smell, but he would soon be able to see us. Everything passed in a blur as John ran at vampire speed, and then jumped up over the gate, made with by a mile.

He landed gracefully and put me down.

"I believe you have legs, and can use them?" he laughed, and I scowled at him. I brushed myself off and he began to run, but at normal speed so I could keep up.

We ran through the woods together, and suddenly we came out into a clearing, and there was the portal. It was only a short way away but I got my leg caught in a tree root and John ran towards me.

Suddenly his eyes filled with fear and I saw Damien and Jamie running towards us. I gulped and tugged the tree root off me, before dashing for the portal again.

"stop!" Damien screamed, and Jamie grabbed a hold of John. I yelped and spun around. Damien had disappeared but Jamie was there, holding John down.

"go," John shouted, and I turned around to run again but Damien was there and he grabbed me.

"Let go!!!" I screamed, but he only tightened his grip. "never."

And then he kissed me, and the minute his lips touched mine my vision grew black at the edges and began closing in.

"what have you done?!" John screamed, lashing out from Jamie's hold.

"kill him," Damien smirked harshly. "as a punishment."

I screamed as Jamie dug his hand into John's chest, and he pulled out something that was beating... and I saw the light leave his eyes as mine filled with emptiness.
