Chapter 38 : Challenge 5 - Face off

Amelie's POV

What had just happened? Jamie had turned into a hybrid? Who had that girl been? Was Lexia the woman who got killed? I'd never know now, would i? Jamie wouldn't remember me.

I thought about it for a while until I noticed Teddy was making small moaning noises, and I carefully approved her.

"err... are you OK?" I asked, and she tilted her head up.

"am I ever?" she asked. "I feel refreshed. Whoever that was, she's been making me feel like crap for the last 3 years, now... I feel great. But... what happened to Jamie?" she asked.

"he... she turned him into a hybrid. He doesn't remember us... or shouldn't. He did it so she'd leave you're body, and she promised him stuff."

Teddy shook her head. "Damien's not going to be happy."

"which one?"

"you're Damien."

"he's not MY Damien," I pointed out.

"don't start this again," she sighed. "OK, so Jamie's not dead, but he's a hybrid and doesn't remember us?"

I nodded. "yeah."

She looked sad. "this is really not going to end well. OK, we might as well get over it. Come on, let's get back to the castle,"

I offered her my hand and she thanked me as I helped her up. We made our way back to the castle and I thought. I just couldn't imagine not seeing Jamie again.

If I felt this way, how would Damien feel?

It looked like we were about to find out, because Damien was waiting for us at the castle's entrance.

"where have you been?" he growled at me. "the whole castles been searching for you! And have you seen Jamie? The bastard disappeared."

"Damien..." I sank down. What was I supposed to say? You're never going to see your brother again? How did I let him down easy?

"well?" Damien asked, clearly waiting for a response. He was angry, and in no way prepared for the news - but I couldn't put it off. I had to tell him.

Damien's POV

I was getting impatient with her. What was she doing? Wasting my time?

"WHAT?" I growled, and she flinched.

"Damien... Teddy was being overtaken by a hybrid girl... her name was Danielle..."

Damien took a step back. "Danielle? Jamie's secret girlfriend? I thought she never wanted to see him again?"

"I don't think she intended to... Damien, she was in the body of a woman called Lexia. I think she drank Jamie's blood, and now she doesn't die, she just moves into another body."

This was bad news. Danielle was Lexia? She could move into any new body?

"so she inflicted Teddy, thinking she was a good body. She was going to attack me when Jamie stepped in, and she offered him the chance to become an incredibly strong hybrid, and then she'd leave Teddy, and not come to me... because she planned to... and she promised she'd bring Lexia back and he could be king and protect those he loved... but he'd loose all his memory's."
