Chapter 13: Huh...?

~Ayumi Shinozaki's P.O.V~

Tears ran down my cheeks, cold drops of fear sliding down my skin like poison. I held tightly onto Yoshiki, as tight as my trembling, skinny arms could manage. A hiccup escaped, part of my sobs. I just listened to his ragged breathing. It was gradually becoming more normal, a relief for me. The big problem was his wound, which I was putting a lot of pressure on. It was clear, even through the shirt, that the bleeding was going to get worse before it got better. My hands were sure to be stained with the crimson fluids seeping from his stomach. At least no internal organs had been hit; too far right, probably a miss.

He wasn't unconscious, and it was easy to tell since his eyes were open. He stared vacantly at the wall, lips slightly parted. A bit of blood was drying on his chin, since thankfully he wasn't coughing anymore. That was one thing to be glad about, I suppose. I tried to stop my tears, but it was futile. I just watched the tears fall into his blonde hair, disappearing into the thick layers of bleached hair.(I just remembered tHIS IS ALL ON HIS BIRTHDAY... //crai)

"...H-Hey, Yoshiki...?" I asked softly, shaking him a little. There was no response for a few seconds, and it was dead silent. Too quiet. Almost...like...outside? Weird...

"...mm?" It was a quiet sound of acknowledgement and question coming from him, and I was relieved he wasn't unconscious or unresponsive. That would have been bad. I don't think my heart could've handled that...hnng...

But before I could ask him, a sound erupted like gunfire from behind me. Shock triggered adrenaline, and I was able to turn around.

My eyes widened slightly, and I went rigid.

I screamed.
