Yoshiki's P.O.V
"Are you ready?" I asked, waiting for Shinozaki outside the school grounds. She was looking down, and she seemed sad. Was she still sad about the death of our friends? I didn't want to ask yet, since she might snap at me. Not that I really cared.
"Yeah... Let's go." She sighed, walking right past me. I quickly followed her and matched her pace. She was silent, but she had looked up so she didn't walk into anything. I waited for her to start the conversation, since I knew she was going to say something.
"Kishinuma, why did you kick Mochida?" She looked up at me. Not what I was thinking she was going to say, but it was better then silence.
"I knew he wasn't unconscious, just catching his breath. I knew he was going to get shaken or ripped apart by you and Nakashima, so I kicked him. Much better then getting screamed at, don't you agree?" I explained with a light laugh. She looked back down, attempting to hide the light blush.
"Oh." Shinozaki whispered. Had she been expecting a different answer? "I never thanked you... Thank you..."
"No problem." It was true, she had never said 'thank you' for any of the times I helped her, but I didn't want a thanks then, anyways. I didn't do it because it was necessary and I didn't want to seem like I jerk... I did it because I wanted to.
We came to a four-way intersection. Shinozaki pressed the button to cross, and watched the cars fly past us. She mumbled something to me, but I couldn't hear through the sound of vehicles and how low she was talking. "What? I can't hear you."
"I said... We turn down the alleyway right up here to get to my house. It's a shortcut." She repeated loudly. A bit too loud. I nodded, looking the other direction as Shinozaki. I thought I heard a sigh. The beeping sound went off, alerting that we could walk across now. She hurried to the other side, leaving me behind.
I cursed under my breath as she left faster then I could grab her. 'Shit. Shit. Shit. SHIT!' I ran at Shinozaki.

Shorter, yes, but this book is meant to be mostly in Ayumi's P.O.V, so I'm just going to keep his short and simple.
