"What you doing here Steve?" he whispered to himself.

Standing at the top of the staircase, he could look down on the chaos from above. Tony was already drunk and letting people try on his helmet. Thor was sat watching high ranking shield agents try and lift Mjölnir and dying of laughter as they squabbled like children. Nat and Bruce were trying to look like they weren't flirting but it was painfully obvious, nobody would dare admit it but watching Bruce embarrass himself in front Natasha was just too funny.

I'd rather see him turn bright red then green

Bucky suddenly came up behind him holding a glass of scotch.

"I've tried my luck Cap, the girls in this day and age just don't want old fashioned gentleman like us" he laughed and looked down at the crowd. "Have you gone down at all?"

"I went around, shook a few hands then came up here"

"You're not having fun are you?"

"Nope"

Bucky sighed, it pained him to see Steve like this, after all they've been through he thought maybe Captain America would still have some Steve Rodgers left in him.

Bucky finished his drink and passed the glass to Steve. "Get me another drink will you?"

Steve rolled his eyes and made his way down the stairs "you're a jerk" he chuckled

Bucky smiled "and you're a punk"

Some how Steve had made it through the circus that was Tony's living room and to the bar, the music was so much louder now, blasting songs that Steve felt awkward just listening to.

"whatever whiskey you got there, on the rocks please!" he yelled at the barman.

"Oh my god! Captain America!" A shriek came from his left that nearly made him jump out of his skin. A small little blonde had appeared beside him, a little to close for comfort. Her turquoise dress barely covering her and her bright blue eyes stared up at him.

"I'm so happy I found you, now I can tell people I've met all the avengers haha" she giggled

Steve smiled politely "well, it was nice to meet you" he secretly hoped she took his hint.

She didn't.

"I know right! It's funny because-"

Steve drowned her out, just like every other conversation he'd been having recently. He turned his head to look outside at the moon, that had to be more interesting then this engaging whatever she was saying.

But instead of the moon, something else caught his eye.

"Um, Captain America?"

He then realised where he was, and that he hadn't been listening. Steve quickly whipped her around to face the huge party behind them "oh my, did that guy just pic up Thor's hammer?"

She then perked up, standing on her tip toes "what guy?"

Steve pointed some into the party "right over there, oh my goodness, it looks like they're going to fight!" he exclaimed backing away toward the balcony.

She ran off into the crowd as Steve shut the balcony door.

And she was still there

Thank god she was still there.

Her long (h/c) flowed down her shoulder so effortlessly and it perfectly complimented her tanned skin.

Her black, backless cocktail dress gave her an hourglass figure a thousand men would die for. A pair of black, red bottom Louboutin's was like the cherry on top for him.

From where he was standing, it was like he was in a gallery, staring at the most enchanting painting of a lady simply leaning on a balcony, looking up at the moon and stars.

Yet she was still unaware of his gaze.

Steve coughed to get her attention and the woman whipped around surprised.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you miss" Steve apologised

She smiled softly "that's alright" and turned back to look at the sky.

He stepped forward "May I join you?"

"If you want to"

Oh I want to

His subconscious begged, what was wrong with him?

They stood in silence together for what felt like hours as Steve tried to find a way to come up with conversation. He was never good at this.

"Beautiful isn't it?"

She beat him to it.

Steve looked up at the sky, she was right the moon looked especially big, and bright that evening, and something about the stars, they seemed to twinkle even more.

"Yes, very" He agreed , then looked at her, only now noticing the full extent of her beauty, her full red lips parted ever so slightly, small freckles gathered on her nose, deep doe eyes peered up at the sky, and long eyelashes that seemed to just go on forever. "Beautiful"

Her eyes never left the sky "I'm going to up there one day, with the stars" she finally looked at Steve "that sounds crazy right?" She said.

"Nothing sounds crazy to me anymore, trust me that's very mild compared to what I've heard" Steve confessed as they laughed together.

"I'm Steve" he held out his hand

"I know" she shook it "it's kind of hard not to know that"

"Right" he scratched the back of his head nervously

"(y/n)(y/l/n)"

"It's very nice to meet you miss (y/l/n)" said Steve.

"Likewise Mr Rogers"

Steve shook his head "please call me Steve" he begged

"Then please call me (y/n)" she teased

Steve smiled, genuine smile "ok" he dared to inch closer to her, not knowing if this was a clear indication of his interest in her.

"Can I get you another drink?" He asked, signalling to her empty wine glass on the floor.

"I'm good, I'm trying to give it up" she said.

His raised an eyebrow "when did you start?"

(Y/n) smirked "yesterday...it's a work in progress"

Steve laughed at her remark. He looked down at her arms and noticed goosebumps. Without a thought he took off his jacket.

"Oh no n-" she protested, not wanting to be a burden.

"I insist" putting it on her anyway, "I couldn't just let you get cold."

She turned to him, somehow they had gotten extremely close, but Steve didn't mind, he felt relaxed and calm. He hoped she felt the same.

"I'm leaving now anyway, you should just take it" she told him but Steve shook his head.

"Keep it. It looks great on you, really goes with the dress" he joked.

She laughed.

A heavenly laugh

"Thank you Steve" she grinned and walked towards the balcony doors. He watched her walk away, hoping to see her face once more.

"Bye (y/n)"

She looked back at him, the moonlight illuminating her face as she's gives him a final nod before leaving and disappearing into the crowd of socialites.
