(Y/n) decided to wear a simple red silk slip dress for dinner. She didn't like getting all dressed up for a simple dinner at home with her fiancé, she'd much prefer some Chinese and sweats while watching a movie, but those days were gone apparently.

She didn't want to get in a fight with Joe tonight, she was too tired.

She proceeded to light up the candles on the dining room table, the dinner was made and the whole apartment was spotless. He couldn't say she didn't try.

Quiet jazz music played in to background and she began to sway with it. Jazz was her favourite genre of music, she admired how each instrument had its own flow and tune, but somehow came together to create a beautiful melody, it was almost poetic.

She hadn't noticed Joe walking in until she heard a slam of the front door. He stood watching her with that same devilish smirk on his face. Slowly he walked towards her, hands in the trouser pockets of his Armani grey suit. She gulped and he leant down to kiss her lips.

"Good evening honey" he whispered into her ear and pulled away, she smiled "Hi Joe."

He stepped back slightly to look at her "you look good" was all she got before he stood aside and took a seat at the dinner table.

Sighing, (Y/n) poured a him a glass of wine, setting it on the table.

Halfway through dinner, and she noticed Joe wasn't chewing her ear off about some boring business stuff like usual. He was silent, and his silence could only mean he was annoyed about something.

"Everything ok?" She asked curiously, maybe if she knew she could find a way of reassuring him. He looked up at her, his pale green eyes were so threatening now.

"Did you do something different to the steak?" Wasn't quite the answer she was hoping for but at least she got something out of him. "Yeah, I added some new seasonings, why?"

"I don't like it"

"Ok, I won't add it next time"

Back to silence, the only sound was the light jazz and scraping of cutlery on their ceramic plates.

"Why aren't you wearing your ring?" He asked suddenly.

Of course that's what it was.

She sighed and took a sip of her water "You know I don't like wearing it in big crowds, it could get lost or stolen" she replied

That wasn't necessarily untrue, she didn't like wearing flashy jewellery out in public, especially on the street of New York, a diamond like that could make her an easy target for thieves. But there was also the fact that wearing it all the time, just didn't feel right to her.

"So what? I buy you a 1.2 million dollar ring and you just decide not to wear it?"Joe scoffed, darkly.

She looked at him confused "what? No that's not what I said Joe"

"DON'T fucking lie to me" he voiced boomed, echoing around the apartment. He stood up from the table, with his empty plate in hand.

His steps where so menacing that it kept her guessing his next steps. As he got closer, she looked down at her plate, refusing to be look at him with her fearful eyes.

Clash

He dumped his plate onto hers, making her flinch. She felt his cold hands cradle her face, then harshly grab it, forcing him to look at her.

Tears now gathered in her eyes as he stared her down "you will wear it always from now on, yes?" He raised his eyebrow.

She hated when he did this, talking down to her like a child, it wasn't fair. "Yes, Joe"  she whispered submissively.

He let her face go and walked away from the table, with him gone, she could finally let the tears fall.
