"Clock's ticking" he whispered.A knock at the door made her eyes widen and dart to Steve, he just stared back, completely calm considering the situation.
"(Y/n)! Come out, I wanna see you in the veil!" Amanda wailed from the other side of the door.
"You stay in here!" She hissed at Steve and gestures to the spot he was standing before unlocking the door and stepping out, cautious of Amanda seeing Steve in the room.
The anxiety began to build up within her, why was he doing this? Confrontation was never her forte and she avoided it at all costs, but with him there was no messing around, no form of an easy way out, he was straight down to the point.
It was probably the only thing she didn't like about him.
(Y/n) gulped and stood in front of the large grand mirror in the middle of the shop floor, eyes darted to the cream colour fluffy carpet beneath her.
She could feel the comb of the veil dig into her scalp as Amanda secured it into her hair roughly.
"It's perfect" Amanda cheered, in awe of the sight before her "you look perfect"
(Y/n) dared to take her eyes off the floor and raised them to look upon her own reflection, she was right, she definitely looked the part.
"Thanks" she whispered, refusing to let the tears gathering in her eyes fall.
All eyes were on her, which was a good thing, as no one noticed Steve opening the door of the changing room ever so slightly to see the beautiful bride on full display.
It's like no one else could see the sadness in her face, they were blinded by the facade of a perfect bride that they couldn't see how miserable she was.
Amanda suddenly jumped to her phone as it rang loudly "one moment" she smiled at (Y/n).
The call was short and Amanda hung up with a frown on her face "sorry girlies, I gotta get going, there's been a serious wardrobe malfunction with moms dress, I'll see you later?"
She nodded lightly and grinned at her soon to be sister in law "No problems sweetie, call me when you get home"
This was her chance, Amanda was leaving and she was pretty sure Natasha was pacing somewhere around the maze of bridal dresses around the boutique.
She rushed out of the bridal floor back to the changing room as soon as Amanda was out of the sights, desperate to get this dreaded conversation with Steve out of the way.
Slamming the door behind her, She let out a breath that she'd been holding in and fluttered her eyes open to see Steve's concerned ones staring back down at her.
"What game are you playing Steve?" She spoke through her teeth.
"I could ask you the same thing" he scolded her "what happened the other night, don't that you acted out because of the alcohol, don't deny that you were... having second thoughts"
She rolled her eyes him, what business did he have getting involved in her relationship?
"Doesn't mean I'm going to walk away from my fiancé, Joe's been there for me for a long time and I will not leave him for a stupid mistake I made when I was drunk, I won't do it" she ranted at him "I mean for gods sake Steve we only kissed a little, it's not like we had sex"
She pushed passed, not wanting to be near to his large frame, not because she didn't like it, but because she lost all her morals when he had her that close, "why are you even mad at me anyway? You know what happened was wrong, why can't you just put it behind you?"
"You're lying to me " he remarked, making her sigh and take a seat in the plush arm chair placed in the corner of the dressing room.
"You and I know there was a reason you kissed me, a reason you let me stay that night, (Y/n) I'm not trying to persuade you to think any different because inside you know that marrying Joe may not be the right decision" he told her, "and I'm not mad at you at all, I just want you to tell me how you're really feeling"
"I can't do this Steve, I made a promise, you wouldn't understand" (Y/n) placed her head in her hands.
She was tired, tired of the wedding planning, tired of Joe's temper and especially tired of pretending to want to be in a relationship with him.
He knelt down in front of her, "help me understand, what hold does he have on you?"
She paused before giving him a deep and intense stare "You wouldn't get it, you've never had someone that would do anything to protect you, no matter how many wrongs they do, or how many people tell you how bad they are for you because you know inside that's not who they are"
Steve paused, as he thoughts immediately locked onto a one person in particular.
"I guess you're right" he huffed, getting up and walking towards the door.
"Steve wait" (Y/n) grabbed his hand, stopping him "please, I don't want to loose you as a friend" she pleaded.
He smiled sadly before tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ears, this sweet little thing was so obviously clueless to his deep affection for her.
"You're not loosing me (Y/n), but you have to think about what you really want, no one can help you with but you" he said sincerely, he pulled her in gently and kissed the side of her head "I'll call you"
With that he left her standing alone, craving his touch once again.
"I swear to god I have seen the same goddamn 5 dresses-" Natasha burst in the door and stopped once she saw the state of (Y/n) "you ok?"
(Y/n) sighed and ripped the lacey veil out of her hair "I need to get out of this dress" she groaned "and then I need a drink"
