"Hey Rogers!"

Steve sat on the park bench casually until he heard her, then he stood up straight, and a grin was immediately plastered on his face.

She looked gorgeous, but then again, when did she not?

Her hair was pulled to one side, this was the first time Steve had seen her in dressed more laid back and it suited her, easy going, just like her.

"Good afternoon doll" she blushed at his nickname for her and he knew that he was going to stick with it, that blush was too cute to not admire over and over again. "So where are we going for lunch then?" Steve asked "there's so many restaurants in New York now, I don't think I'm qualified to pick one"

She chuckled as they walked through the park together, "well, I don't know about you but I don't think you can go wrong with some Italian, what do you think?" (Y/n) then raised her eyebrows cheekily at him "or does Captain America have some special dietary restrictions we're going to have to stick to?" She teased.

He rolled his eyes at her, secretly enjoying the kick she was getting out of him, "my metabolism is faster then any man on earth, I'll be fine, I just hope you can keep up with me doll"

The two sat in La Graciella Italian Bistro, Steve told her stories of the war, and what what life was like back then, while she sat in awe of him, and his accomplishments.

"400 men? Steve that's incredible" she praised him but Steve simply shook his head.

"It was my duty to get those guys out, they had families to go to at the end of the day" he explained humbly.

"Maybe, but to someone who is not a soldier like yourself, I find it incredibly admiring."

"Thank you (Y/n)"

A waiter then come up to their table with their orders, and placed it on the table.

"The chef wanted me to tell you how honoured to have you dine with us Captain America" he told Steve in his thick Italian accent, then reaching into his pocket he took out his phone, pointing at it "may I?"

Before he could say anything else Steve had already stood up next to the waiter "sure man, no worries."

They took the selfie but before Steve handed the phone back he whispered something in the waiters ear.

"Can you make sure no one else comes up to us? We really want to enjoy our amazing meal uninterrupted if that's ok?"

As they pulled back, they waiter nodded his head at Steve "yes Captain, of course."

"Thank you errr...Luca" he read from his name tag.

Steve sat down and begun tucking into his meal, he looked up at (Y/n) and saw her staring at him "what?" He asked, his mouth slightly full with spaghetti.

"Nothing" she giggled at his already messy state "just sometimes I forget I'm sitting with thee Captain America"

"Please, to you I am Steve, your friend, now if you have a jar you can't open, that's when you call Captain America" she chuckled at his funny remark. It was then she noticed a little sauce on the side of his mouth.

"Oh, Steve, you got a little something..." without thinking, (Y/n) reached over the table, licked her thumb and started to wipe the sauce off his mouth.

Steve didn't move a muscle, he suddenly was stone, worried if he moved an inch she'd move away and he'd loose the warmth of her touch. He looked up at her (e/c) eyes, and she looked down at his, and for a second they both forgot where they were.

Realisation kicked in for (Y/n) earlier then it did for Steve, as she found herself pulling away and sitting back in her chair, before starting to apologise profusely, "that was so weird, I'm sorry, I shouldn't get in your personal space like that"

"It's ok (Y/n)" he reassured her.

They sat in an awkward silence for about a minute and a half, yet if felt like hours. Neither one of them knowing how to start the conversation again.

"So how's your-"

"Tell me more about-"

They both started, making them let out an awkward laugh.

"you go first, please" (Y/n) insisted, as she sat back, twirling the spaghetti around her fork.

"I was just going to say...you and Joesph, how did you meet?" Steve asked, he wanted to know what it took to get a girl like her, for research purposes.

(Y/n) started fiddling with her large engagement ring as she began to tell the story.

"I met Joe my first year at Columbia, he was in his third year doing economics and business studies, and it's like we clicked instantly, he made me laugh, a lot" she giggled at the memories replaying in her head.

"We'd text in my lectures and I'd hold in my laugh so much people thought there was something wrong with me, but he has been so good to me, so romantic and supportive, especially...when my dad died."

Steve suddenly felt for her, as he could see the mention her father caused her pain, in her eyes and in the sudden was she crouched into her chair. "I'm so sorry, you don't have to go on if you don't want to"

(Y/n) shook her head at him slightly "it's ok Steve honestly, before he died, Joe proposed to me, and it made me feel like I wasn't completely alone, and my father really liked Joe, so he gave us his blessing and told me that Joe will look after me and all his affairs when he was gone. Which he has."

Steve nodded slowly, before carefully asking "and your mother?"

"Never met the woman, My father told me she wasn't fit to be a mother and that kind of lifestyle just didn't suit her I guess, so she left when I was a baby" she explained calmly, finishing off her meal. "God that got deep, moving on Cap, any plans this weekend?"

Steve reached up and scratched the back of his neck, in doing so, gave (Y/n) a glorious excuse to peek at his v shaped torso.

Holy Mary mother of God.

"I have a work thing I gotta do, top secret though, can't tell you, sorry doll" he teased her. She smirked at him, cheekily as always "ohh ok, just answer me this? Does it require a certain shield?."

"Maybe"

The two chuckled at their banter and gathered their things. After about 10 minutes of childish arguing, they had agreed that that Steve would pay the bill, (Y/n) however was unamused about the situation.

She dragged her feet out of the restaurant, and pouted at Steve "this was supposed to be my treat, I invited you out!" She whined but he only found it more adorable.

"You can get it next time, doll" he said cooing at her slightly. She blushed, still not over how cute that nickname was, "ok, so I'll see you soon?"

"Call me whenever you want" Steve replied, extended his hand out fort her to shake it, but yet again, as his hand made contact with hers, his body just felt warm and relaxed. Neither one of them wanted to pull away first, as they both stared each other's beaming faces.

Beepppp

The honk of a New York taxi can pulled them out of their trance, and back to the world around them. "I gotta go, I'll see you soon Steve!" (Y/n) said, turning and walking away.

"Bye (Y/n)"

And he was left there, standing like an idiot as she walked away, once again.
