"I'm on the floor of the loading deck, Is the engine room secure?" Steve whispered into his communicator. The silence that came wasn't very encouraging ."Nat?"
"Give me a minute!" She yelled back to him. Natasha kicked one of the guards in the face, reached for his gun and shot another one coming towards her, "it is now"
"Stark, how we looking?" Steve asked, being extremely cautious of anyone coming him way.
Tony was circulating the perimeter, trying to find where the weapons were located on the boat, but more importantly for Cap, where the people who had been taken hostage were.
"There's two groups of hostages, one on the first floor of the boat, one on the second, Romanoff, you're only down the hall of second floor group." Tony reported.
Steve started heading toward the boat, on his way to the first floor of the boat "Nat, you get the ones on the second floor, lead them downstairs and I'll get them out, then help Tony find the armaments"
"Copy that"
Steve made his way down the hall, only to be met by two huge guards, who immediately started firing at him. He held up his shield and ran towards them, disarming the first and dislocating his arm, then hitting the second with his shield. The first got up an tried to attack Steve again, blocking his swings and punching him in the jaw.
Completely unfazed by the punch, Steve hit him in gut, making the guard bend and allowing Steve to push his elbow into his spine, breaking it. The second came behind him, and got him in a headlock, grabbing the arm around his neck, Steve flipped over the guard and punched him square in the face, knocking him out.
Eventually he had gotten to the door which had the hostages inside. A huge lock hung from the door, which looked somewhat old and rusted. "I've cleared the second floor of hostages, we're on our way down now" he heard Natasha say through the communicator.
He was running out of time.
Slamming his shield into the lock, it broke off with ease and Steve rushed into the room that was cramped with hostages, all tired up, both woman and men, including some children "I'm going to get you guys out of here"
Tony and Nat had identified where the weapons were and called it the rest of the S.H.E.I.L.D agents to takeover the boat and make arrests.
Steve walked through the crowd of paramedics, police and agents. He caught a glimpse of Natasha getting medical attention for a head injury and mouthed her a quick 'you ok?'
She smirked at him and mouthed back 'of course', letting him know she was fine.
"Hey Capsicle, good work today, nice to see you not slacking" Tony said, creeping up behind him and patting him on the back.
Steve rolled his eyes and him "thanks Stark, your appreciation really means a lot" he chuckled sarcastically "how are you already out of your suit?" He asked surprised.
Somehow, Tony was already in a suit with his signature glasses on. Looking flashy as ever.
"Well you know" He shrugged "I don't wanna wear it in big crowds, don't want to seem like I'm showing off"
Steve just shook his head at him, ambushed by him, "sure Tony, I gotta go I have a call to make" he said
"Phone call? Who are you calling Rogers? Sharon?" Tony questioned him with his eyebrows raised in curiosity.
"No" Steve replied in annoyance.
"New girlfriend?"
"No Tony!"
He held his hands up in defence "alright Rogers, I'll stay out of your business, but if it is a new girlfriend I suggest hitting me up with some tips"
Tony turned around as his car drove up to him as if by magic "ah just in time, Rogers, until next time" and with the he was gone.
"I thought I'd heard my name just now"
A voice came from behind Steve, and there stood a certain blonde with flirtatious grin on her face.
"Hey Sharon"
"Hello Cap, so easy mission?" She asked, stopping just in front of him.
Steve sighed "no easier than the others, how you been?" He asked, attempting to be friendly.
Him and Sharon had a fling a couple of months before but Steve had to cut it off, suggesting it would be best for both of them to focus on work rather then relationships, which Sharon eventually agreed to. Nevertheless it didn't stop her flirty ways, which only intensified around him.
"I'm been good, was mainly wondering if you were ok?" She raised an eyebrow in concern "Bucky had mentioned you'd been having flashbacks of Peggy a little while ago, anything you wanna talk about?" She asked.
Steve didn't want to talk about it. In all honesty he was trying to forget about her but that was a challenge. The only thing that had got Peggy off his mind lately has been talking to (Y/n).
"I'm fine Sharon, but thank you, if I do need to talk I won't hesitate to call" he said gratefully, "so you headed home?"
Sharon shook her head and smiled at him mischievously "I was thinking we could go for a drink? We haven't hung out in so long, please" she pouted
At this point Steve didn't want to seem rude so he reluctantly said "sure."

(Y/n) had been alone the whole day, Joe had been gone from first thing in the morning and still hadn't returned, it was 9pm.
She wrapped up his dinner, and was now laying of the sofa watching re runs of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. She'd gone out earlier to pick up some groceries but didn't want to stay long, mainly due to the number of stay at home, snobby housewives who inhabited every isle. She prayed she'd never become one of them.
(Y/n) did have a lot of friends in college, she was the girl everybody knew and everyone wanted to be friends with. She was so kind to everyone she met and never past judgement on someone before getting to know them. (Y/n) believed that everyone had a good side to them, a soft side and they just needed to be given a chance to show it. This was one of her many flaws, she always saw the good.
It was only after she started dating Joe that her circle of friends started getting smaller and smaller. But Joe would just reassure her, letting her know that she didn't need anyone else as long as he was there.
"If those people were meant to be in your life, they would have stayed"
Those words burned in her skulls every time a friend would cut her off. It kind of proved Joe's point and made her think about how much he must love her because he was there.
Only he wasn't anymore.
And she felt alone.
Grabbing her phone, she called the only person who had be easing that burn in her head.
The ring of Steve's phone was so delayed, normally he would have picked up automatically.
"Hello" a female voice voice confused her as she briefly pulled back, to check the number she's dialled.
"Um, hi is Steve there?" She asked cautiously, a little intimidated by the stand-offish voice that had answered the call.
There was a little pause, and they spoke up "Steve's busy right now, I wouldn't keep disturbing him he's had a long mission" they said "can I take a message?"
"Just say (Y/n) called, and to call me back, please" she replied, not wanting to talk to this person anymore, something about them just felt odd.
"Ok" and the phone was hung up, (y/n) was disappointed with not getting to talk to Steve all day. He was her only friend really.
And now he's probably busy with some beautiful girl, he doesn't have the time for you.
To think of Steve with a woman like that made her squirm slightly, she wasn't jealous, just uncomfortable thinking in that way.
No...she wasn't jealous.
