"After I did that to you, I went to the nearest bar, and just drank. I wanted to forget my actions toward you so badly honey, it was traumatising for me to think I could do something like that to you." Joe explained as the two of them sat in the living room.

"While I was there, this woman came and sat with me, I don't remember her name but we had a few drinks and she kissed me" he finished.

(Y/n) sat in silence, not knowing how to react, she didn't feel particularly angry with Joe because she knew she hadn't been completely faithful to him either.

"Did you kiss her back?" She whispered.

"No, I would never do that to you princess, that's why I told you as soon as you got home" well that didn't make her feel any better.

Joe stared up at her, not being able to gage her reaction "I'm so sorry my love, I never meant to hurt you"

"We're so broken Joe, we're not how we used to be, and I don't know if we should be getting married just yet" she confessed, it was true though, she had been thinking about it for a while, holding out that maybe marriage would save this relationship but that hope was slowly drifting away.

"No, no please (Y/n), you have to marry me, please, remember what your father said to me, he told me that you and I are meant to be, you can't leave honey" he began to ramble "I can't live in this world without you, why do you think I rejected that woman at the bar? Because I thought of you, I love you, you're the only person I wanna be with. I want you forever"

She placed her head in her hands "I don't know" was all she could say, Joe was always very dramatic with his apologies that she'd almost become numb to them.

"Look I said I'm sorry ok, what else do you want from me? I know what I did was wrong but it will never happen again, ok?" He groaned "please can we just move on from this bump in the road?"

It's like he didn't understand the severity of this situation, like it didn't click for him. Reluctantly she gave in "ok Joe, but I'm still not really happy about the situation"

"That's ok, because I'm going to spend all weekend making it up to you, starting tonight" he said, springing up from his seat.

"Really?"

Joe walked into the bedroom and pulled out another one of his best suits "yep, I got a work dinner with some of the top bosses, and we're going"

Of course, it was a dinner for work, not something he actually put thought into.

The dinner went like they always go, long and boring. (Y/n) was dressed up upon his request and had to put up with Joe's sleazy bosses hitting on her when Joe wasn't around. Despite this however, it did look like he was making an effort with her, complimenting her whenever he had the chance, opening the door, he even involved her in conversation about her father's company, which was a first.

The whole way home, Joe talked about old times, about their first date at this crappy old diner, Joe didn't have enough money to pay for the meal so they ran out together without paying, laughing the whole time, she smiled at that memory. They used to have so many great times, and maybe Joe was right, she couldn't just let that slip, not after everything they'd been through.

Plus everyone deserves a second chance, right?

Once they arrived home, she immediately headed to bed, exhausted by the performance she had to put on for all those people. "That was great right honey? " he asked a tired (Y/n).
