(Y/n) remained in the kitchen, washing up dishes for way longer then necessary. If it spared her time her from thinking about reality then it was more than worth it.

Steve stood in the door way and leaned against the wall. He didn't know how to start the conversation, if he should comfort her or forget the whole situation. Regardless, all he wanted was to make her feel better.

"You wanna talk about what happened back there?" He suggested, thinking if she had a choice maybe she'd be a lot calmer.

She shrugged as she scrubbed the plates harder "I don't know, I can't tell if it'll help"

He walked forwards, now standing beside her "you can talk to me (Y/n)" he reassured her.

She threw her hands up in the air in frustration and faced Steve "he's just so unbearable sometimes, I mean he's always had anger issues but god damn! Sometimes I can't handle all the arguing and horrible little comments, it's so fucking tiring Steve!" She vented, as she felt her eyes well up once again.

Without a second thought, she was in his arms. It felt warm and tranquil, almost foreign, she couldn't remember the last time someone hugged her like this.

Steve held her tightly, careful to not squash her though. He could tell she needed it, and he wasn't complaining about their sudden physical contact, he enjoyed it in fact.

(Y/n) pulled away to look up at him, and just admired his sculptured face for few seconds. There was no defining his beauty, his ocean blue eyes were so hypnotising, and his blush toned lips felt irresistible as he looked down at her.

"You know, if you weren't extremely upset right now, I'd be telling you off for cussing" He noted, trying to get her to crack that gorgeous smile.

She let out a giggle "I'm sure you'll have another chance"

Maybe it was the wine from earlier, or Steve's kindness but (Y/n) forgot any stress when she felt his arms around her waist.

Slowly, Steve placed a hand on her cheek, he was moving without consideration of any consequences, or future problems. (Y/n) didn't know how to react to the gesture, instead she stayed as still as a statue.

She wanted to see how far he'd take this.

They inched closer to one another, until Steve couldn't handle the suspense, if he was going to do this, he'd better do it now.

Their lips interlocked with one another and it was like fireworks on New Year's Eve, such passion was felt through that kiss, it was something she'd never felt before.

(Y/n) placed a hand behind his head and Steve pulled her in closer. He held her with such care, yet his kiss was so fierce, it made her disregard any sense in that moment.

As they pulled away, (Y/n) kept her eyes firmly closed while Steve's fluttered open. She worried if she opened them that the dream would be over.

"(Y/n)?" He questioned her, desperate to see her reaction, desperate to know if he has just jeopardised their whole friendship.

Her eyes opened and she looked up at a concerned Steve, before she could do anything, a yell came from the door way.

"I've got the wine!" Joe called.

(Y/n)'s eyes widened and she pushed herself away from Steve.

Steve looked away, the realisation hitting him in the face of what he just did. He wanted to regret but the feeling of her lips was a sweet sensation he couldn't possibly  deny.

"Did I miss anything?" Joe asked, entering the the kitchen.

(Y/n) walked up to him and smiled brightly "nothing at all honey"
