"Yoongi. Hoseok. Taehyung. Did it go well?"
Minjun listened tentatively from the floor as the abductors circling him erupted into a discussion. If it wasn't for the tormenting sting in his arms and the oxygen-depriving bag bound around his neck, the teenager would have assumed that he was listening to a group of students having a lively conversation.
A sudden kick to his thigh jolted him. It wasn't harsh enough to bruise, but the intent was clear.
"Depends on what you mean by 'well,'" one of them said, his tone laced with dark humour.
"Does he know?" another asked. A shadow shifted, and Minjun felt a hand settle heavily on the top of the suffocating bag. It pressed down just enough to make him tilt his head involuntarily, adding to the panic bubbling under his skin.
"Hey," he heard a charming voice mixed with suggestive intimidation, "where were your parents today?"
"Work."
At his trembling voice, Minjun encouraged a few sniggers from behind and in front of him.
The pressure on his head disappeared, but not the oppressive fear weighing on his chest.
"Take him to Namjoon's office, then we'll talk."
Hands clamped down on Minjun's biceps, yanking him to his feet. The grip wasn't cruel, but it left no room for resistance. The teenager's legs wobbled, threatening to give out beneath him, but his captor kept him steady as they began moving.
"Please," Minjun whispered, his voice cracking under the weight of his terror. "I just want to go home." Tears threatened to spill, but he bit them back, knowing they wouldn't help him here. He shivered, his steps reluctant as he was steered down a corridor. Every noise echoed—the scuff of shoes, the faint murmur of voices in distant rooms, the creak of old wooden planks. It was a place that felt alive, but not in a way that comforted him.
The man leading him paused abruptly, causing Minjun to stumble.
"Ahn Minjun," he said, his voice lower now, almost contemplative. "You saw our faces. We can't just let you leave."
Minjun's throat closed up, a sob threatening to escape. Before he could utter a word, the man raised his fist and knocked on a door, the sound deliberate and heavy.
Wordlessly, the door was unbolted and Minjun was nudged inside. He heard no new voice, just the heavy breathing of the criminal behind him as he was escorted to a wall.
"This won't hurt," he assured, "but we can't have you escaping while we discuss some things."
With that, Minjun was forced by his shoulders to a carpeted floor. His legs instantly curled up underneath him and he rubbed his teeth into his bottom lip to prevent him from whimpering. Two hands wrapped a coarse material around his bound arms, and within a few seconds, he found it impossible to bring them away from the wall.
