************************************"Phew, that's been a rough day."
I hear my brother sigh as the doors to our apartment open and he finally comes back from work.
I put down my pencil and the sketch book. "I told you being an emergency rescuer isn't for everyone." I tease from the couch.
He rolls his eyes at me before locking the doors and throwing himself on the couch right next to me. "I know." He agrees. "You, little missy, could never do it." I hear him laugh. "Oh, you're so lucky to have me around."
"Take it easy dear brother, no one likes a show off." I asure him. I believe it's time to prove my point now. "Tell me, how many lifes did you save today?" I rise my eyebrow.
He turns to face me, his warm chocolate eyes, stare at me. "Oh, please, I stopped counting at 10am."
"Sure you did." I chuckle. Despite the fact that I'm absolutely sure he's fantastic at his job, I always tease him about it. Someone has to, duh.
He stands up and walks to the kitchen. "Close that smart little mouth for a second, would you Cali? And rather tell me what you want to eat for dinner."
Your words have completely no sense dear brother.
"What do you want now? For me to close my mouth or to tell you what I want for dinner?" I tease again.
He sighs and rubs his temples. "You will be the death of me."
I cannot help myself but to laugh. My body jumps from the couch and join him in the kitchen. "Move Elyan, I'll make pancakes."
"Oh, you absolutely will not." He stares at me.
"What have pancakes ever done to you? Why are they the enemy?"
"They're not the enemy." He asures me, smiling. "But your cooking skills absolutely are."
Ohoho, not so fast. I'm an excellent cook may I add.
"Look who's talking. Do you need me to remember you who managed to burn a soup last week. A goddamn soup Elyan."
He rolls his eyes. "That was once."
"Once too many." I shoot back. "Get out of the kitchen, take a shower and get us something good to watch on TV, leave dinner to me." That'll be better for both of us.
He sighs embarrassed of letting his little sister boss him around. "How did I deserve this. . . What have I done in my life to get a little devil like you living with me. . ." I hear him whisper as he walks away.
I know he doesn't mean it, but he still can't help himself from being a drama queen about it. Again.
After we ate all of the pancakes, we nearly passed out on the couch.
I'm getting sleepier with each breath I take and my eyes are getting heavier.
In moments like this I can almost say that I love my life. Almost. Well, I'm full, safe and loved. Although every once in a while I can't stop myself from breaking down because of our parent's accident, I'm so grateful to have Elyan here with me. I'd never survive without him around.
