Chapter 17: Despair

A/N: Hewwo again! Another chapter for you all. It's a bloody good thing I have chapters pre-written otherwise you wouldn't be getting an update xD

Anyways, enough of my rambling. I hope you enjoy the new chapter and I'll see you all at the end! :D

Blake and Yang were sitting in their hotel room waiting for Winter and Ruby to turn up, the blonde playing around with the Grimm Pup she'd affectionately named Zwei. Blake had already sent off a message to the younger faunus and received a puzzling one back.

Ruby: I'm sorry. I won't be there. I need to kill something. Make sure Weiss is okay. I won't be coming back. If you do find me, I'll probably already be dead. Or worse.

The cat faunus read the message a few times before realising the meaning behind it. Their leader intended to get herself killed. Something must have happened in the last hour or so for her to decide something so drastic.
She quickly sent off another message, unbeknownst to her, Ruby had already discarded her scroll and wouldn't receive the message.

Blake: Ruby, what are you planning? Whatever it is that's bothering you we can help. We can sort through it. Please don't do anything drastic.

"Yang, Ruby's going to do something stupid." She said to her blonde partner, showing her the short message thread.

"Stupid how?" The blonde asked, furrowing her brow in confusion.

"Yang! She's trying to get herself killed!" Blake said, beginning to get frustrated and jumping to her feet.

"What? Why?" The blonde asked, now confused as to why her cousin would do something like that.

"I don't know, something must have happened in the last hour or so. I'm gonna call Winter to see if she'll have a talk with Weiss, see if she knows anything." The faunus explained, already getting Winter's contact information up on her scroll and pressing the call button.

The call connected after the second to last tone, the Schnee's voice coming through in heavy breaths.
"What is it? I'm busy."

"Sorry but we have an emergency right now. Ruby's planning on getting herself killed. We've also been waiting for you to get here." Blake said, even more frustrated and annoyed at the older woman's tone.

"Well go after her. I'm rather busy trying to stop my sister from causing anymore chaos in the hospital. She, somehow, managed to get out of her restraints and is now running riot around the hospital. I'll sort Weiss out, you find Ruby." Winter explained, sounding like she was running.
"Weiss! Stop! You're only going to make yourself worse!" Her voice came again but it was slightly muffled, like she was holding the device away from her face. "Sorry, but I have to go."

The scroll call ended abruptly, the bumblebee pair looking at the scroll in shock. It was Yang that recovered first, walking over to the bedside table where Ember Celica was where she attached it to her wrist and made sure her prosthetic was working. She then walked over to the Grimm Pup, Zwei and scooped him up.

Blake recovered just after, retrieving her own weapon and checking her ammo stores.
They both quickly left the room after that, the cat faunus bringing up a menu on her scroll, the device giving her the exact location of Ruby's.

Finally out of the hotel, they ran full pelt to the airship station, finding a small one that was free that also came with a pilot. That's definitely not plot armour. Or the author making it easier for them to find Ruby.

The black and yellow duo jumped onto the airship and ordered the pilot to take them in the direction of the forest. The pilot balked and shouted that he wanted payment before doing so. Unfortunately for them, they didn't have any money on them and had to promise they would pay the tab if and when they got back.
Again, the pilot refused and demanded they get off of her airship and find another way into the forest.
