A/N: I hope you all enjoy. Let me know if it's a little overboard...I've not been happy with this chapter every time I've written it and rewritten it.
The sun shone brightly across the outdoor training arena, making the melting snow glitter as though diamonds had fallen instead of snow. Team RWBY entered the arena, carefully making their way to the very centre so as not to slip on the remaining ice. Whitely followed the out soon after, a cocky grin on his face as he played with the pair of silvery, white handguns hanging in their leather holsters at his hips.
He was so distracted by his weapons that he never saw the or realised he'd stepped onto a small patch of black ice, slipping backwards the instant he placed a foot on it. Uproarious laughter filled the arena as the youngest Schnee fell onto his behind with the most comical expression on his face. A mix between fear and realisation flew across his face, his arms flailing around as though he were trying to take flight. The uncharacteristic squeak that came from his throat as soon as he hit the ground even had Weiss laughing loudly.
While Yang, Blake and Weiss continued to laugh at the poor boy's expense, holding their stomachs and almost collapsing to the floor themselves, Ruby moved in to help him off the ground, still laughing herself as she extended a hand outwards for him to take.
He looked up at the proffered hand, uncertainty crossing his eyes before he took it and lifted himself up.
"You good? Didn't hurt yourself, did you?" Ruby questioned, trying to keep her amusement out of her voice.
"I am fine. I have an aura just the same as you." The boy replied half-heartedly, ever so slightly annoyed at making a fool out of himself.
"Truuuue. Still would've hurt though. Aura only protects from damage not pain." The young Faunus responded matter-of-factly, smiling kindly at the white-haired boy as he began to check over his handguns for damage.
"I am well aware but as I said, I am fine."
"Good, good."
An awkward pause became apparent but as soon as Whitely glanced up and did a double take, he saw the young Reaper smiling and looking curiously at his handguns. He rolled his eyes good-naturedly and passed her one of them. Ruby took it excitedly and flipped it over and over, trying to take in everything about the weapon that she could.
"They look kinda like what mine used to. Are they Heckler and Koch handguns? What are their specs and stats and what dust types can you fire from them? And why choose handguns over a rapier or saber?" Excitement rolled off of her in waves, her speech suffering from the effects of it as the words flew out of her mouth just as fast as she could activate her semblance.
"Oh Gods." Weiss muttered to herself as whitey rattled off the specs and stats, somehow understanding the excited faunus. "Not only is my girlfriend a weapons nut, my brother is too."
"Um, Whitely isn't actually your brother..." Blake said out of the blue, earning her a shrug in lue of a verbal response.
"Guys, aren't we supposed to be kicking Whitely's butt?" Yang piped up a little too happily at the prospect of a younger huntsman in training getting beaten up.
Both Blake and Weiss rolled their eyes in unison.
"Rubes, Whit? Can we get on with the sparring session please? We haven't got all day." The white-haired girl asked, only to be met with no response and the continued rambling and babbling of the weapons nuts.
Signing, she stepped towards them as Ruby pulled out her own handgun. One that Weiss was very sure she'd lost a while ago. Although, it looked rather different. This one was red and black with silver accents and it looked to have two bullet chambers instead of one as well as two ammo clips.
