Day Fourteen: one of the ninja's mom's

Late again... XD

Title taken from lyrics of One More Moment: Ursa's Lullaby by Reinaeiry. I swear I've listened to that song so many times and then cried. 😭

Don't be surprised if this song also shows up in Fractured.

"Take him to Darkley's," the urgent voice in her head said. She swallowed hard as the familiar tone appeared in her mind. She blinked back tears and pushed forward through the rain, her knuckles turning white as she squeezed the little palm in hers.

Lloyd looked at her from under his raincoat, lower lip stuck out and trembling in the cold but he didn't argue as he stumbled to catch up. Misako felt her heartache as she stared at those innocent green eyes. How could the universe make her choose between her beautiful son and the love of her life?

"Dangerous creatures will be after him," Garmadon had continued, the fear glittering in his red gaze. "Darkley's was built over an old temple of the overlord. The magical barrier will be able to protect him more than you can."

"I can't take him to a boarding school, Garmadon!" Misako had exclaimed, her eyes shining with tears as she threw an arm out dramatically. "He's my son! I'm not letting him be torn apart by a bunch of criminal teachers!"

"It is your only option!" Garmadon yelled. Misako flinched at the tone. Her husband's eyes widened and all aggression disappeared from his body. He suddenly looked so sad and small. "We don't have any more time, Koko." He whispered.

Misako knew that. She had known that this day would come for so long. Yet her heart kept on hoping maybe it would wait... wait just a little longer. Shaky hands reached up to cup the oni's face, bringing his forehead against hers.

"Please be brave," Garmadon's voice was choked with emotion. "For Lloyd."

Misako let out a sob, clutching him like a lifeline. "I can't - I can't DO this."

"Yes, yes you can. Search every corner of the globe, every ancient library, every ruin. I cannot fight my son. I don't care what destiny says. I will not let them take him from me. Take his childhood." Garmadon persisted stubbornly.

"But Wu says it's inevitable." Misako looked up with hopeless eyes. "We are already taking his childhood."

"Don't listen to what Wu says," Garmadon said bitterly. "He has lost faith."

His hand reached to grip hers, a steadying, comforting hold. "But WE will never lose our faith."

Misako blinked as the salty teardrops stuck to her eyelashes. Silently crying as she trudged on. Faith. Such a simple word. Yet sometimes it was so hard to pursue. It dangled over her head, teasing her, but every time she tried to grasp it, the idea was just our of her reach. Some people lived without hope in their hearts, empty pessimistic souls of dread and fear. Garmadon was never one of those people. He had always had this beacon to him. He knew the future that looked before them. Yet he was determined to change it.

They came over the rise, the tall, looming building standing over them like a giant. Lloyd whimpered and clung to her side. Misako took him by the shoulders and detached him from her body, gently pushing his bag into his clammy hands.

"It's okay, Lloyd." She forced a sad smile on her face. "It's okay. You have to do this, be brave for Mommy, okay?"

Lloyd shook his head adamantly, huge scared eyes pleading with her. "No! No! I want to stay with you!" He cried.

Misako felt herself slowly shattering, barely holding on as she pulled him into one last tight hug. "I know... I know... but you'll be safe here." Her mind went back to the horrifying eyes leering into her home. The screams as they lunged at her child. She had managed to find the master of mind to remove those memories from his fragile, young mind but those sneers were permanently embedded into her nightmares.

"Will you come back?" Lloyd sniffed, wiping his nose with the back of his hand. "Please come back and get me."

Misako's heart was being torn in two. "Of course, Baby. I will always come back. One way or another fate will lead us back to each other... your father too." Her voice threatened to crack at the end.

She took him by the chin and raised his face so he would look her in the eye. "Promise me you'll never lose faith." Misako stared at him with such passion and love.

Lloyd nodded quickly. Misako wasn't sure if he'd remember this moment. At the very most the exact words she's said since he was so young. But she hoped and prayed that he knew she was doing this for him.

Wordlessly Misako nudged him towards the gates and the tiny boy went stumbling towards the intimidating school. He gave her one last look back before he disappeared inside. That was when she let her walls fall.

The woman crumbled to her knees and wailed, the grief tearing her apart. There was so much pressure resting on her shoulders and the guilt was too overwhelming. Fear and panic were overriding her brain, a dark shadow of emotion suffocating her and strangling her spirit. She was hardly aware of the ragged sobs and horrific screams that escaped her mouth, the tears and the mud soaking through her skin. All she knew was that her world was starting to fall apart and she wasn't sure if she was strong enough to pick up the pieces.

"Misako," a breathy voice breathed in her ear. The woman slowly opened her eyes to see a glowing silhouette in front of her. A large familiar rice hat blocking her view.

"Wu?" Misako managed to say.

A soft chuckle came from the figure. "Close." Her eyes widened when she recognized the golden decorated robes.

"The first spinjitzu master..." she gasped, a hand flying over her mouth.

"I am so sorry that destiny has affected you as so." The soothing tone of the creator was almost sad. "But you mustn't let it break you. You are so strong, Misako Montgomery. You are so, so strong."

Misako heaved a deep breath. The words washing over her and the warm light bathing her soul. She looked up at the shadowed body before her with a soft smile.

"It's Misako Garmadon."

authors note****
I love Misako so much! Some fans don't really like her but I think other than her bad judgement on leaving Lloyd at a school labeled: The School for Bad Boys that she is pretty darn awesome.

I think her decision to leave Lloyd at Darkley's needed more context and a good reason. So I blame it more on writing than Misako the character. So I decided to write my own version of why Misako brought Lloyd to Darkley's.

I hope you liked it!
