Right at that moment Maxine, AG, Kayla and Ollie walk in.
"Hey guys, sorry we're late," Maxine says as Ollie and Kayla sit down next to us.
AG just stands, staring at me. "Gilly, are you blushing?" she asks incredulously.
"No," I say quickly. Too quickly.
"AG is right Gilly, your face looks like it's on fire," Maxine says.
Ollie turns to Jax. "Dude, tell me everything."
"I'm fine guys!" Nobody listens to me.
"Jocelyn was just telling me about Gilly losing it after that kraken dragged me under water and Gilly almost going overboard."
Kayla turns to me smiling. "So that's what you were doing?" Everybody was laughing at me.
"Okay, Jocelyn stopped me and the mermaids saved Jax so no harm done!" I exclaim.
Everyone calms down a little except Jax. "You know," he says gasping for breath "that's just adorable."
"Shut up Jax," I say, my cheeks burning hotter from all of their reactions. "And I am not adorable," I mutter under my breath. Apparently Jax heard.
"You are, stop glaring at me like that Gilly you are," he says.
Whatever. I don't care. But I felt my neck and ears turn pink.
"Gilly can you tell me where the bathroom is?" Maxine asks.
Yes! An escape. "Come on Maxine I'll show you," I say. I jump from my seat and lead her to the bathroom. Hopefully when I come back they'll be talking about something else.
***Jocelyn's mind: Fairy be! Jax called Gilly adorable! I saw Gilly's face burn even brighter & her ears turned pink. It's a shame Gilly had an out though but I had my laugh. This isn't over Gilly and Jax. Not at all.
