Eric
Late for school, like always. I'll make it. The bell will ring in about five minutes, so I speed down the road, praying a cop isn't around. I pull into the lot with three minutes left and sprint into the building. I get to my locker and grab my stuff before going to class. Just as I walk into the classroom the bell rings. It is too early for this crap.
"Lock is on your side today, Eric." Mr. Scha says sliding his glasses down his nose to look at me.
"Guess so." I smirk sitting in my seat.
Mr. Scha starts the lesson- blah blah blah. I was never the biggest fan of school. It is all extremely boring to me. I have never really stayed in a district for more than a year. This is the longest I've stayed.
I am a foster kid, so I move around a lot. I currently live with my favorite foster parents so far, Tony and Claire. They are really nice and understanding. I can be a handful at times. I've lived here for about a year, a year and a half. My parents left me when I was little so I have been in the system for my entire life. I am just about to turn eighteen, a senior in highschool. With my dislikement toward school, the only thing I could have going for me is continuing to work at Tony's car mechanic shop. Which is fine. I like working with the vehicles.
This class is so boring. I glance at the clock to see it has only been about five minutes. I groan silently. I wonder what is for lunch. What could we be doing in gym class?
"Ahem! Mr. Wagner? The answer?" Mr. Scha questions.
"Why call on me? Targeting me for not knowing the answer?" I say with no emotion showing on my face. I just spoke my mind. Standing my ground. Mr. Scha stares at me.
"Okay. You can stay after class. Speak to me like that again and you'll get a Saturday." He threatens.
"ooOoOoOo" The whole class says. This isn't the first time I have spoken out. I was never the best student. That is just who I am. I've gotten into fights here and there in my last school, not at this one yet though. Surprisingly I got popular pretty quickly for some reason in this school.
"I'll see you after class." I smirk.
- After class -
Class ends and I remain in my seat. "See you in a few," My best friend Jake claps my back.
"See you in a bit." I reply.
Once the class is empty I stand from my seat and walk to the front of the classroom. "Mr. Wagner, I get it, you want to be the funny guy. But how about not during my class at least? You can be goofy and do whatever you want outside of school. You continue with the attitude the rest of your highschool life isn't going to be pleasant. Understood?"
"Yes Sir." I say.
"I am serious Eric. Please, behave. You can be Mr. Popular without causing a scene in my class. And how about you try to work on those grades a little bit?" He suggests.
"I understand sir." I answer.
"Here is a slip for your next class." He hands me a piece of blue paper and I stick it in my pocket.
"See ya tomorrow, Mr. Scha." I walk out of his room and make my way to my locker.
I put everything in my locker and head to the gym. My next class is a power hour where I have a small gym class for almost an hour. "Mr. Wright? Here," I hand him the slip. "Sorry for being late." I say.
"Hey Eric. No problem. Go on and get changed. You can be on the blue team." Mr. Wright states. I nod and go into the locker rooms. Mr. Wright is a younger man. He is fresh out of college. He actually likes me too. Probably because his class is my favorite.
"Hey man." Jake says putting on a t-shirt. "Did Scha do anything?"
"No. Just the same old same old." I answer. "He suggested to get my grades together and to behave better."
"It's like he doesn't know you." Jake laughs.
"I know right?" I chuckle. "How are you and Kayla?" I ask. Kayla is Jake's girlfriend. They have always had a rocky relationship. Very off and on.
"The usual. She is just so annoying lately." He groans.
"I bet." I laugh. Kayla gets jealous easily. Every other day she is texting Jake about some girl who glanced in his direction.
We have a small conversation until I am changed and we go out to the gym. I pull a blue jersey over my shirt while Jake puts a red one one. "Good luck bud. You are going down." Jake smirks.
"You keep telling yourself that." I laugh going onto my team' side.
During power hour we will just play a game the whole time. Today is dodgeball. Jake and I like playing against each other in this game. We always have it out for each other.
