Ana
Before I pull out of the parking lot I call my mom to let her know that I am leaving. She doesn't pick up the phone so I just send both my parents a text to let them know. I pull onto the road, going very slow. My eyes are glued to the road.
I drive behind a salt truck, thinking this would be safer. The roads are so slick so I continue to go slow. Someone out of the corner of my eye confuses me. "What is that guy doing?" I ask myself. "Stay forced onto the road—" The guy doesn't see me and tries to turn onto the road I am passing. He T-bones the driver's side of my car.
There is a sudden ringing in my ears. Loud, constant, and bothersome. It's cold and wet. Whip begins to whip at my face.
My eyes focus and travel to the snow on the trees. It's so pretty, so graceful. A smile breaks my cracked lips. The snow begins to fall from the ground in a light flurry. I lift my hand to touch it before it falls. It's so lovely.
"Oh— Oh jeez! It's just a kid! Are you okay?!" A frantic cloudy voice calls to me.
Sirens begin to blare. What is going on?
I lift my head slowly and start to feel some aching in my leg. It's stuck in my car in my seatbelt while the rest of my body is on the hood of another car. My leg aches and my head throbs. I feel my heartbeat everywhere.
Panic begins to run through me. "Help—" My voice is hoarse. "It hurts." I furrow my brows trying to scream for help, but no sound comes out. Hot tears run down my frozen cheeks.
But then my eyes fix on the snow flakes again. My head rests back on the hood of the car and my stare holds the frozen rain floating in the air.
Red and blue lights fill the dimly lit sky. But I don't hear anything but muffled voices. People hover over me with calm, yet panicked expressions on their face. They begin to block the snow so I move my head until I see it again.
