Ana

I ended up going to the doctors on saturday because the pain got way worse. He said that the fall popped something out of place. They put it back into place, but now I am on bed rest for a few days. Just fabulous.

"Ana? Do you need anything?" Dad asks me, popping his head in.

"No." I answer.

"Okay... What did you get on your test?" He asks.

"I will find out tomorrow." I state.

"Oh okay, well. Have a good night's sleep, peanut." He says kissing my forehead.

"Night, dad." I say back, choking back tears.

"Love you kiddo." He smiles.

"Love you too." As soon as he shuts the door and walks a bit down the hall, the tears aren't held back anymore.

My life sucks. Constant bullying. A car wreck. Busted leg. The only boy I've ever liked angry with me. It could be a lot worse though. I could still have to worry about Carter. Maybe I deserved it. I knew that how well everything was going with Eric was too good. It wouldn't last.

"What a baby! Eric, look at the loser cry!" Josie's constant words ring in my ears.

Thats me, ugly and broken. I need some tape, or glue. But no one wants to mend me back together. Frankly, neither do I.

My mom walks into my room and places a plate of breakfast on my desk next to my laptop. I thank her and she takes a seat on my bed. I eat my breakfast, as I do my school work and we chat.

"How is your food?" She asks, sipping her coffee.

"It's good. Thanks." I say.

"How is your leg?" She questions.

"Hurts, I guess." I answer.

"I'm sorry, honey. Do you want something for it?" She asks.

"No, I'm fine." I state. Between my school work and the leg pain, my mind has been too busy to think of you know who.

"Are you sure?"

"Yea, I am all good." I assure her.

"Okay... well I am going to let you get your work done. I'll see ya later." She smiles before leaving the room.

I opened my email one last time before closing my laptop to find my test score. The email comes up after a few times hitting the refresh button.

Dear Ana,

Great job on your test! You scored a 100%! Adding the extra credit for tutoring Eric, you have a 104%! I expected nothing less!

You did an amazing job helping Eric. He has done nothing but improve.

Get well soon! Have a great day.

Best,

Mr. Red

104%, wow. I mean I am not surprised, but I didn't expect that much extra credit for the tutoring. I respond saying thank you and wishing him a good say as well.

I didn't realize I was crying until a tear fell onto my keyboard. Every time Eric comes up I turn into a big ball of mess. Or just an even bigger mess than I already am. A few more tears fall down.
