1 | Sneaking out

It was the very first archery season followed with a festival that was held in the Kingdom of Ginto. In the only village of the kingdom called Stickville there lies the only orphanage in the kingdom, a little orphan sneaked out of the orphanage followed with two other orphans. This little girl's name is Valerie. Her and her friends Lucas and Peter, stood on the windowsill and hopped on the side of a wall of a three story building and walked sideways while their backs leaned to the wall for balance. When they got close to a nearby rain pipe, they gripped on to it and slid down just like how firefighters did on a pole on an emergency. They made it down and ran towards the metal fence of the orphanage. They went through a well hidden hole on the fence that they made years ago. These three troublemakers always steal treasures and trinkets here and there as a hobby. When they were outside the fence, they rushed to a nearby courtyard where a festival was held at dawn. They were planning to steal food there and have their own secret little feast back at the orphanage. The orphanage only had bread, potatoes and apples for them to eat, they never had gotten to eat the rich people's food such as desserts or meat.

They arrived at the courtyard and hid behind some barrels full of apples.

"Woah! This place is huge!" Peter said as his eyes sparkled.

"Should we get some candy apples while we're here?" Val asked the two.

"Yeah sur-" Peter was cut off by Lucas.

"But we promised the others to bring back a feast" Lucas said.

"Please" Val said with puppy dog eyes. Lucas huffed and sighed in defeat.

"Okay, where's the penny bag, Peter?" Lucas asked.

"Here" Peter said while giving Lucas a small pocket-sized sack full of pennies.

"Come on, let's buy some!" Lucas said standing up. The other two stood up and raced with the other one towards a candy apple stand. The three cheered as they ran through the crowds of people. Mostly bumping some people while passing them.

As they got to the stand, they bought three fresh dipped apples with caramel. As they ate their tasty snack, they continued to search for a place full of fancy food. When they passed an archery contest, Valerie stopped and to see the show.

The contest had so many competitors with bows and arrows held on heir hands. They aimed their weapon and shot targets. Valerie looked amazed to see the skills those people have. Soon after, in the middle of the competition, Lucas and Peter ran back towards Valerie when they realized that she wasn't with them.

"Valerie? Aren't you coming?" Peter asked as he stopped with Lucas.

"Yeah...I'm coming" Val sighed as she walked away with the other two.

After a couple of minutes, they found a very big tent in the courtyard. Curiosity came in the three, they went near the entrance and peeked through. In the tent was a very long table with all sorts of fancy food and desserts that they haven't seen before! In the sides of the table were people who look like the rich people in the kingdom. In the end of the table was the king, the king feasted with all the people in the tent. The three were drooling while looking at the food. Lucas tried to go inside.

"Halt. No peasants must enter" A guard stopped him while putting his hand in front of Lucas.

"Can we at least have some food? We're starving" Lucas said trying to convince the guard. The guard kneeled down to Lucas's level since Lucas was a 7 year old.

"Listen kid, I would love to but I need to do my job" The guard simply said. This was Lucas's opportunity to hit the guard on the head with the bag full of pennies and made the man pass out.

"Come on, let's get the food and get out of here" Lucas said while gesturing the others to come inside. Peter took a nearby potato sack and emptied it. The three sneaked inside and snuck under the table and was hidden because of the table cloth.

"Wow, I didn't know that tables had clothes on them" Peter said making Lucas and Valerie chuckle since it's actually their first time seeing a table cloth. The three started to reach their hands above the table and snatch some food and put them on the sack.

After a couple of minutes later. Valerie reached her hand out to take some cake.

"Oh yes that's delightful darling, let me finish my dessert then I can go home" The lady said while  picking up her fork to eat her cake. The lady saw Valerie's hand trying to reach for the cake and started to panic.

"There's a thief in the manor!!!" The lady screamed while pointing at Valerie's hand making the whole tent silent. Valerie panicked and put her hand back.

"A thief in the manor? Where?" A man asked the lady.

"Under the table!" The Lady screamed. The three orphans panicked and started to crawl their way under the table towards the exit. The people in the tent started to peek under the table for the thief. A man rose the table cloth revealing the three.

"Peasants in the manor?! How unacceptable!" The man said while trying to grab one of them. The three started to crawl faster until Peter got dragged up the table.

"Guys! Help me!" Peter yelped at the two. Lucas and Valerie tried to grab and pull Peter but the person who dragged him was more stronger. Peter was pulled up the table. Valerie and Lucas had no choice but to leave him or they would get taken too. The two of them finally made to the edge of the table and rushed to the exit while the people in the tent were distracted.

"Lucas, how can we get Peter back?" Valerie asked while running and carrying the bag full of food with her.

"We have to leave him, we have no choice" Lucas said while looking straight forward to where he is going to avoid eye contact. Valerie frowned.

"...Okay" Val said in a sad tone.
