9: Change It Up

"Why are we working for your teacher again?" Kyo asked, sounding exhausted. Shigaraki sighed for the millionth time and shoved the papers back to the younger. 

"You can't complain about teacher just because you can't spell." The villain said, trying to hold back a laugh. Kyo really couldn't spell for shit. The kid was a math genius but wouldn't be able to spell 'special' if you held a gun to his head. In fact no one in league doubted that in that situation Kyo wouldn't even try to spell the word. 

"Stop being a baby! I never graduated middle school and even I can spell!" Dabi yelled from the couch. Kyo stuck his tongue out at the villain even if he couldn't see it and then flipped Dabi off. The second action was highly visible and Dabi raised his own finger in return.  

"Aw! Don't be mean to the baby!" Toga said with a giggle. Needless to say Kyo was much more insulted by the baby comparison than not being able to spell. A knife was hurled in Toga's direction which she quickly caught. 

Kurogiri sighed. He didn't even know where they got the knives anymore, they were just there. "You're just mad I'm prettier than you and always will be." Kyo said as Tomura watched him butcher the spelling of 'juice' for the second time that lesson. Sometimes he wished he could kidnap a U.A teacher just to get some tips on how the fuck you're supposed to teach someone to read and write when you don't remember learning. His teacher hadn't been the one to teach him, he knew that much. Not that All For One would be of much use while he was locked up. 

Kyo was impatient for their next move. He thought after the yakuza thing flopped they would go right onto the next thing up nooooo they were waiting until the time was right. He thought All For One was pathetic for losing to All Might and getting locked up and it wasn't a secret that he thought the league would be better without him. 

"We've got a small mission coming up anyways, and I think you'll like this." Tomura said with a devilish smile.

"Currently his threat level is low to non existent, but the longer we wait the worse it will become." Nighteye concluded. 

The pro heroes that had gathered there all remained silent. This had never happened before. 'Kyo''s appearance as a whole was unprecedented for an organization like the league of villains. Compound that with Nighteye's discovery and they were in deep water. 

"This would be an good time to bring up the interesting concept brought to me by a member of Nighteyes's team." Aizawa said, breaking  the silence. "Deku brought me his quirk analysis of 'Kyo' and combining that with his quirk registry he saw that it would be possible to use 'Kyo''s quirk to heal All Mights injuries. Maybe not to the extent where he would come out of retirement but certainly enough to allow him to live a normal life.".

Once again a blanket of silence fell over the room. "There is no way to deny his involvement with Eri's rescue despite what his future holds. If we can convince him to heal All Might there is no way in 'Kyo''s current physical condition he could kill the former no.1.". 

"Are you forgetting he has the league of villains behind him?" Midnight interjected "Even with All For One behind bars they still pose a serious threat.". There were a few nods around the room. "If we can separate him from the league we should be able to handle the situation." Ectoplasm added "They made no moves to come after him before, maybe they simply see him as a lesser member because of his lack of destructive capability.".

"There were several moves actually." Aizawa said, bringing the unwanted attention back to himself. "While 'Kyo' was in our custody the two men charged with operating the brothel 'Ren' that he was trapped in were burned to death. This was done in the same manor as several other corpses around the city, all linked back to a league member, Dabi. The brothel itself was also burned to the ground despite being guarded by police as a crime scene. It happened the night the legal process ended. That's too specific to ignore.". 

Nighteye thought about it for a moment. "So it was less of an attempt to bring him back and more of a warning of what would happen should we have kept him." The man thought aloud. 

"There's still good in him." All Might said, his eyes looking a little distant. He hadn't spoken throughout the whole meeting so everyone was on the edge of their seats to hear his opinion. "He helped us save Eri and as far as we know he is still innocent of all crimes. We will not be taking him into custody for my sake. We will be saving him." The former hero looked right at Nighteye "What you have seen is not certain. We must not treat someone like a criminal for what they have not yet done.".

It felt less like a planning meeting and more an ethical debate. Some heroes thought someone with the power to kill All Might shouldn't be allowed to walk the streets if that was what they were destined to do. The others, Aizawa among them, thought that since nothing had happened yet 'Kyo' wasn't at fault for anything. With proper rehabilitation they could help him.

The 15 year old stood over the man in front of him, his hands trembling and his eyes wide.

"You recognize him don't you?" Shigaraki said, a smirk playing on his face. Kyo nodded cautiously and looked back at his leader. Tomura's smile only widened as Toga knowingly held a knife out to the boy. "He was the one that followed us that day. I nearly killed him then and I guess that knocked some sense into him. He ran off a day before the brothel was raided and because of that he evaded conviction." He explained as Kyo didn't recognize one of the worst people he's ever seen. 

The leader carefully grabbed Kyo's jaw and tilted it towards himself. He took the knife from Toga and placed it in the boys's shaking hands. "Kyo, you are the conviction.". 

Shigaraki's words echoed in Kyo's mind as he stated at the man below him. He was already beaten to a bloody pulp and it wouldn't take much to kill him. But surely he couldn't. Since returning he had fought a few smaller villains and street thugs and wounded them, but taking someone's life was a whole other situation. 

"He'll never fucking do it..." The nearly dead man groaned "He's a fucking pansy a weak ass bitch.". 

Something inside Kyo boiled with hatred at the statement. 

His hands tightened around the knife.

The reaction was delayed. Being the serial killers they are the league celebrated with Kyo until the early morning when everyone passed out. 

Shigaraki thought he was the only one left awake until he heard the familiar sobs. It was just like the first time so with a sigh the villain mounted the stairs. He opened the door slowly so as not to startle the boy. 

It was so much worse than the first time. Kyo's eyes were wide and filled with fear. His cheeks had tearstains down them and his hands were clawing angrily at his skin, a behavior Shigaraki was all to familiar with. 

"Tomura..." Kyo sobbed out quietly "I killed him!". The villain walked over to the boy and pulled him into a hug. He was extra careful not to disintegrate anything while doing so. 

"Were we supposed to let him do that all over again?" He asked the crying teen. Kyo shook his head in response and Tomura's expression softened. "Then you have to accept that some people just need to die.".

I've always liked comparing my OC's and Nao (From Shatter if you haven't read it) and Kyo couldn't be more different. I should know this already but every time the gap widens I'm a little shocked I'm writing these at the same time
