CHAPTER FOUR
"And now you compel my friends"

AS SOON AS CAROLINE ENTERS THE HOUSE, she is met with an unfamiliar face standing in the way of her getting to Cassandra. A look of confusion washes over her as the girl didn't seem very fond of her even though they had never met. Or maybe they have and Caroline just didn't seem to remember. "Hello." Octavia greets in a semi-cold tone as she squints her eyes, examining the girl. Caroline seemed a little uncomfortable under the girls gaze, she seemed to be judging based on looks.

"Hi?" Caroline replies, curious as to who she was and why she was being so cold towards her. "I'm sorry, who are you?" She asks kindly as she didn't want to give off the wrong impression. Octavia perks up as she puts her hand on her hip and gives a sly smile.

"I'm Octavia. Cassandra's best friend." She states as she clenches her jaw at Caroline who seemed not affected by the news. Caroline knew Cassandra had other friends and had been dying to meet them, but Cassandra never told her when they would visit.

"Oh, lay off, tav." Cassandra tells her with a roll of her eyes as she grabs the girls arm and drags her away from Caroline.

"I just wanted to make sure that she knew." The girl grumbles at Cassandra who laughs a little bit at the girls protectiveness. Octavia never wanted to be replaced but there wasn't anybody who could come even close to replacing her.

"Caroline, this is Octavia and Nathan Hart, they're some of my oldest friends who are just visiting for a little while." Cassandra introduces making Caroline smile a little as she acknowledged them both. She couldn't lie and say she didn't find Nathan attractive. She glanced at him and found that he was already staring at her quite fondly. Clearing her throat, she holds out her hand towards Octavia.

"Oh, well. It's nice to meet you guys." She tells them with a fond smile making Octavia squint her eyes before shaking the girls hand. Pulling away, she walks back over the Cassandra, a look of defeat on her face.

"Damn it. She's too nice." Octavia mumbles to herself but Cassandra catches what she says and smiles lightly. Nathan walks over to Caroline, taking her hand in his.

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you." He tells her as he plants a kiss on her hand. Caroline blushes a little bit as she avoids his gaze. Cassandra only rolls her eyes at her friends tactics.

"Okay, back off. She has a boyfriend." She reminds him as she didn't need to be the reason that Caroline decides to step out on Tyler. Caroline tenses at her words, her eyes making their way to the floor.
