The lovers sat comfortably next to each other in the hovercraft. With every move causing their knees to touch ever so slightly. While one of Phoenix's knees was touching Finnick's, the other was bouncing excessively out of nervousness. The only thing was that Phoenix couldn't pinpoint specifically what she was nervous about.

The more she thought about it the more she realized there were multiple things to be anxious about during a time like this. Whether that be how Maeve and Canary would react the moment they saw Finnick and Phoenix in front of them. Or maybe it was just the fact that she'd be fighting again, even though she never truly stopped fighting in the first place. These things made the whole situation feel a bit like the hovercraft trip she had taken right before The Hunger Games.

Phoenix turned to Finnick, knowing he'd be feeling similar about the entire thing. And she was right, seeing that his body language was nearly the same as hers. His leg bouncing up and down just as hers had, looking straight ahead, while his fists were clenched and resting on his lap. But as Phoenix looked at him, it was like she knew what was going through his head.

" You getting deja vu too? '' Phoenix asked, wanting to break the tension between them, not knowing how much longer she could take the silence. She watched Finnick snap out of his thoughts the second he heard her soft voice. The words made him chuckle a bit, a nod then following suit. " Yeah, a little. Feels like the ride before the games, huh? " His eyes were still staring straight ahead as the memories processed.

It was as though they always had a slight idea what the other was thinking, even after all these years. " I always thought it was so awkward how we had to be in the same hovercraft together. " Phoenix remembered the foreign feeling of riding in the hovercraft alone during the Quell. A polar opposite of the ride to her initial Hunger Games.

Finnick nodded, a part of him having a hard time believing all of this started when he was only fourteen years old. He was so young. " Yeah like the games weren't bad enough on their own. " He sighs, moving one of his hands to be on Phoenix's thighs. The other once still closed tight, as if he was holding something.

A part of Phoenix felt bad that she brought this up. Knowing this would be one of their last moments alone for a while. And the last thing she wanted to do was talk about the games, even if that is what brought them together. " After this is done, maybe we should have our honeymoon in the Capitol, out of spite. " Phoenix said, changing the topic a bit.

She watched the smile creep onto Finnick's lips, with him now looking up at her slowly. He didn't say anything for a moment, simply just taking in her features. He swore he'd never seen her look more beautiful, even if he thought that every time he looked at her.

" You mean that? " He asked, opening his mouth again before she could answer. " About getting married and everything? " He finished, knowing he would marry her at any given moment. " Of course, I always have. " Phoenix confirmed, thinking back to all of the other times they had talked about them getting married.
