"Why are people talking about you and my sister?" Elijah glared at him and demanded.
Mason shrugged.
"Mason, they're saying that...," Elijah squeezed his eyes shut, then opened them again "That you and Everly had sex in a dark corner of the school,"
Mason's eyes went as wide as an egg and he stood up.
"E, It's nothing like that I swear. I just gave her my jersey because her clothes were too revealing."
Elijah narrowed his eyes at him then took a deep breath.
"I know it's not like that, but people are talking and that would break Everly. Before she starts hating you more, Because, I know she'll assume you started this rumor, Do something. If you can't make them stop at least tell her that you're innocent."
"You're the worst brother ever," Mason smiled a little and told him.
"I just want to see my sister happy, I haven't seen her smile genuinely since that day five years ago. It's on you, you can bring her happiness back." Elijah patted him on his shoulder and started to walk away.
Mason took a deep breath and turned.
"Where you off to?" He demanded.
Elijah stopped and turned to face him.
"I'm hanging out with Destiny."
"Oh, Okay. See you then."
"See you."
Mason ran a hand through his hair, then raised his voice again.
"What about Everly?"
Elijah stopped again and looked at Mason.
"She said she'll take the bus, or if you could take her home. I'm sorry bro, I really, really want to spend some time with Destiny,"
"Of course, I'll give her a ride. Enjoy." Mason winked at Elijah and turned away.
He had to find her.
The bus hadn't left yet so he rushed to the parking lot, where he saw Elijah and Destiny leaving.
She was on the bus, he was sure.
But, how will he talk to her like this in front of everyone?
He rubbed his forehead.
"Looking for me?"
He frowned and slowly turned around.
"What gives you the idea that I was looking for you?" He asked her.
She folded her arms across her chest and shrugged.
"I might have overheard you and Elijah talking in the hallway,"
"May I ask you why did you remove my jersey?" He demanded looking at her.
"It was hot, So I removed it and now it's lost." She shrugged.
"Why would you do that?"
"I don't know, it just got lost,"
"Why would you go around the school like this?"
She rolled her eyes.
"If you're done, we should get going." She started walking toward his car but he caught hold of her arm.
"Ow, What?"
"Do you realize how hard it is for me to watch you wearing this and knowing that every guy in this damn school would have looked at you the way I wish only I can look,"
