At the sound of gunshots, my head shot up. I looked through the double doors of the boring house in an effort to see what was happening outside, however, the debris from yesterday's events obstructed my view. Before I could think twice about it, I bolted towards the doors. I've got to see if she's okay. She has to be okay.

I could hear the guard chasing after me as I slammed open the doors and started sprinting in the direction of the gunshots. Please be okay, Raine. Please. Please. Please.

I made it about ten feet before the guard grabbed me again, wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling me back towards the doors, but I couldn't see Raine yet. I tried to yank myself out of his grip and peer around the broken fences without even looking back at the guard who was murmuring demands for me to get back inside. Before I could spot Raine, he pulled me further out of sight and back through the doors. No, no, no, she has to be okay.

The guard pushed me towards a wall.

"Sit and don't move," he commanded, resting his gun on his hip to purposely intimidate me. It worked. I felt like I was either going to cry or shit myself, or both. The guard leaned against a wall to my left, kicking one of his ankles over the other and letting his head hit the back of the wall.

As I waited inside I could feel my mind tearing itself apart over the question of whether Raine was still alive or not. I could hardly even bear to ask that question in my head, if she was alive.

After what felt like an eternity, I heard the sound of boots crunching debris and leaves. I lifted my head to see guards leading the rest of the kids and coaches into the lobby and seating them against the wall next to me. My eyes frantically scanned the group until they finally found Raine. She's okay! I sighed in relief but turned my attention away from Raine abruptly. If that man knew who I was and wanted something from me, chances are he might want something from Raine too. I can't let him know we're sisters.

It took every cell in my body for me to minimize my sisterly instincts towards Raine. There was no way I was letting Raine get involved in any of this. I'm not going to let her get hurt.

My attention was grabbed when the man from earlier started talking.

"Now that we're all comfortable. I think it's time for a formal introduction. My name is Hendrix and as I said earlier I only need to ask a few questions." An unsettling smirk played on his lips.

"And well, we'll see where we go from there." I gulped at his threat, one that I knew he would follow through with based on what I could only assume was the purpose of the earlier gunshots. The man named Hendrix walked along our lineup until he stopped in front of me. I fought back the urge to cower under his menacing stare.

"Ahhh, Nora," he mused, his faint Irish accent punctuating my name. He reached down to place a hand on my shoulder, but I yanked my arm back so his hand missed me. He let out a breathy laugh and I glared back up at him. Pervert.

"Hmmm, you were right, she is a bit feisty," Hendrix smirked, turning towards the guard who dragged me into the building earlier. I narrowed my eyes at the guard this time before turning my glare back to Hendrix. The guard didn't react to Hendrix's statement, or at least he did and I just couldn't see it because his face and the rest of his body were hidden behind a mask and uniform.

"Now, Nora...what can you tell me about your family?" Hendrix asked. He crouched down to meet my eye level. My family? Shit, does he know about Raine? I can't tell him about Raine.

I turned my head to face that ground, indicating that I wasn't going to say anything. How was I even supposed to answer that question anyway? I had no idea what he meant. Why couldn't he just ask what he wanted and then leave us all alone? He certainly didn't come here for a history lesson on my family lineage.
