Ever since I was ten, I fantasized about using my skills for entertainment. More than anything, I wanted to have my own magic show in Vegas, perform in front of thousands and give them a night to remember.

That's why I moved out to Las Vegas when I was twenty. I had it all planned out. I'd work on the streets, gain a name and some exposure before gradually moving up. Then my brother and I got ran out, forced to go back to Jersey where I met her. Cindy.

Though my dream was tossed away, damn near flipped and ripped apart, I wouldn't change a thing about my life now.

Sure, I'm locked in a jail cell by myself with barely any human interaction but I had a child of my own and even if he wasn't mine biologically, I'd still care for him. I made amazing friends who I consider family, moved my parents to a better place with a bigger house.. and I met the love of my life. Knowing she was out there, waiting for me, it made all of this worth it.

I smiled to myself, seeing her staring at me with that cute smile and curious eyes. I flicked a Joker into the air and caught it between my thumb and forefinger repeatedly.

"Y/ln." I raised my eyes and saw the guard standing outside of my cell. "You have a visitor." Visitor? I wasn't allowed to have visitors because I'm in witness protection.. that doesn't make any sense.

"Are you sure?" He simply pulled the door open and held up the chains and cuffs. With a sigh, I slid the Joker into the pocket of my orange shirt, then raised up with my hands out.

The guard wrapped the chain around my waist and connected it to my ankles cuffs, then connecting the waist cuffs to my wrists. "Snug as a bug, sir." I said with a smirk as he tugged each chain. He stared at me blankly then grabbed my arm and pulled me forward to walk down the halls.

I hardly ever came out unless it was to get my fifteen minutes of sunlight in the secluded indoor-outdoor room. It was basically a big ass box room with a gate as the ceiling. That's my 'sunlight time' and it was all to keep me safe, I guess. I testified against the biggest drug lord in Brazil a little over a year ago; he's behind bars now but he still had loyal followers. They didn't want to risk me being seen so, we all basically 'died' or ran away.

Santin 'killed' me, Flower, Brooklyn, and Ross staged a fake car accident that made public news. Chris and Cindy took the 'disappeared' route which the public took as them believing that the car accident was a hit, more than an accident, so it all worked out. Santin's people thought it must've been a rat within the organization that sold Santin out so the heat was off of my family.

Still, everyone had to take precautious so that meant no contact whatsoever and I still had another three years to serve in prison as a result of my plea deal. Again, as long as everyone outside of these walls were safe, it was all worth it.

"It's your lawyer to discuss your case." The guard said as we reached a meeting room. Well that makes more sense, why didn't he just start with that?

He looked up toward a camera and nodded which unlocked the door, thus leading him to walk me in. First thing I saw was a girl staring out of the window in a pants suit, her brunette hair in a low bun.

"Miss Hearts, your client is here." Miss Hearts? My lawyers name is not..

"Thank you." She spun around with a warm smile and my jaw instantly clenched but I kept my composure. "We'll just be a few minutes."

The guard nodded and pointed at the seat so I sat down, watching him walk out. As soon as the door closed, my eyes instantly shot back to her. "What the hell are you doing?"

She shrugged. "We got bored." I sighed and looked down at my hands as I fumbled with the chains. I can't say I'm not happy to see her because I am but I was also doing all go this for them. I did not risk my ass for them to pop up like this.

"This isn't a good idea. If they see you on these cameras and pull up your face.." I raised my eyes when she cleared her throat, her fingers pushing glasses up her but the slight tap on the temple of the glasses made me look up and to the right. The camera did a slight movement, making me chuckle and look down again. "You gotta be kidding me.." I raised my eyes and stared at the glasses intently to see the small dot in the middle. "How are you, Cali boy?"

She smiled. "He says he's 'alive and thriving, baby.' Those words exactly." I nodded. I expected nothing less from Ross. "So, we have a plan."

I sighed and tapped my thumbs together. "Of course you do. What do you have in mind?"

Her hands slid under the table before coming back up with a watch, a vase, a large black blanket, and a rose. "We're in the mood for a little.. magic. Are you in?"

I eyed the four items on the table, my mind torn between staying here safely to ride out the next three years.. only to be sent to some small town and hide for the rest of my life with eyes on me at all times.

Or, play with fire.

I reached for the watch and lifted it up, sliding it between my fingers. "What kind of magic?" I looked up with a smirk and her expression was identical as she raised up, slowly sliding her chair in.

She whispered. "The kind that no one will ever forget."

I looked back at the watch and bit onto my bottom lip. The kind no one will ever forget..

Third Person POV

The guard stood outside of the door, yawning as he waited for the inmate to be done. Then, he heard a sudden thud which prompted him to waking up quickly. Pulling the gun from his holster, he quickly called for the door to be unlocked but when he pulled it open, there was only one chair occupied.

It had a large black cloth over it and the shape of a body underneath. With his attention on the door, he completely bypassed the idea to survey the room.. Specifically, directly to his left behind the door.

He slowly walked toward the chair, gun held up, a free hand shakily reaching for the cloth. Taking a deep breath, his hand yanked the cloth up and quickly aimed but underneath wasn't a body. It was merely an orange jumpsuit, a vase atop it with a single rose within.

"The hell?" He mumbled, reaching for the flower and slowly pulling it up to see a playing card attached to the bottom of the stem. He kept pulling.

Once the flower was completely out, he noticed the bold writing on the Joker card.

Boom.

It was too late for him to notice the string attached to the flower he had just pulled from the vase. He could only stare at it. "Oh sh-"

A bright burst of fire flared across the room as the guard flew back, slamming against the wall and dropping to the ground in a heap of confusion and groans. The loud clap from the thunder-like boom was enough the shake the prison, which is exactly what they wanted.

The classic trick was merely a distraction from the two now running across the prison without a hitch, because now? All attention was directed to explosion within the walls of the cell and the guards were running straight to it, opposite them.

Wise words once muttered is 'There is no magic word, just magic.' And Y/n held onto that very idea because there was still mischief to create, still roads to pave and lines to cross because that's who she is and that's who's she's always been.

Though this time around, there is no watch snatching or bank robberies. No power hungry men or weaseling into married women's bed. No, she's thinking bigger, bigger than she's ever have before but now she has her own crew.

Time to play with fire and burn back.
