"Hi, it's nice to meet you sir." I frowned before shaking my head. "Hello, Director. I appreciate the.. fuck." Huffing, I picked up my mug of coffee and took a sip of it."You appreciate the fuck? You cheating on me with Mr. Dunn now?" I looked up with an unamused face as Nicole pressed a kiss to my cheek before grabbing a mug and starting to pour herself some coffee.
"Ha ha." I moved over to the toaster and pulled out the pieces of bread, adding them to the plate and handed it to her just as she walked by. "This is new for me, okay? I'm finally in the field and I wanna make a good impression."
Once we settled at the table, she looked at me as she bit into the toast with a grin. "You are so cute." I groaned and dropped my head which made her laugh even more. "Okay look." I raised my head as she swallowed the food, dusting off her hands. "Director Lewis is a very cool guy. Be professional but not a kiss ass, he hates that. Just be your naturally cute, charming self and you'll be fine."
"Be myself?" I nodded softly. "Okay.. yeah, I can do that."
"Yes you can. Now hurry and eat because we've gotta meet with him in.." She looked down at her watch. "The minutes."
My eyes widened and I quickly scarfed down my eggs, then grabbed my coffee and drank it while walking to the door. "Babe?" I looked up and saw Nicole holding up my badge.
"Oh shit." She nodded softly and handed it to me before walking out. "Thanks."
"Mhm. And it's really twenty minutes, just wanted to make you sweat." She said once we climbed into her car and I stared at her with a dropped jaw. "Love you."
"I hate you."
We made it to the building in ten minutes and as we walked in, I saw people greeting Nicole left and right.
"Hey Nicky." I raised my eyebrows as a guy brought her into a really tight and long hug. And I mean... really long. I ended up clearing my throat and he pulled back with a smile. "Oh hey, I know you. Nicky's girlfriend right?"
"Wife." I corrected and his eyes widened.
"And I wasn't invited to the wedding?" He shook his head before raising his hand. "I'm Chris. Nicky was my field trainer when I first got here. You got yourself a tough one."
I grinned and nodded. "I'm aware of that." My head raised when I saw a door open and my heart dropped. It was the director. The man, the myth, the legend. I prayed I made a good impression because I literally would not be here if he didn't take a chance on me.
He walked up to me and I smiled, my hand raising quickly. "It's good to finally meet you sir, I'm Y/n." He shook my hand and I could see Nicole snickering from the corner of my eye.
"Agent Y/ln, pleasure is all mine. Now, is it true you were the one to spot the leader of the Oppo gang in a bar when all the other agents left?"
I smiled and nodded. "Yes sir."
He pointed at me with a nod. "Dedicated. How long were you on stake out?"
"About eight hours sir, but I had my resources that he was coming so.. I filled up on peanuts and water, that's for sure." A soft laugh left his lips and I rocked on my heels slightly.
He then looked at Nicole, still smiling. "You were right."
"When am I ever wrong, sir?" She retorted and he motioned us to follow him. She gave me a thumbs up and a wink which let me breathe a little easier.
Once we were in his office, he pulled up a duffle bag. "You were with the Virginia unit, correct?" He asked and I nodded. "So you have your badge, firearm.." I showed him both. "Great. Here is your field gear. It has your tactical vest, boots, raid jacket and.." He held up a set of keys. "Here's your government issued vehicle keys."
