I knew where I was going, I was going home to forget once again Cody and his stupid success. How I was going to get there was the problem- I didn't know the area well enough to get home.

Phoenix was a huge city, big enough for someone like me to get lost without directions to get me home. I pulled out my phone and turned it on- nothing happened. I stared at the black screen as nothing continued to happen no matter how much I clicked the on button. "Great! First I don't have a way home and now my phone is dead and everything is on the stupid tour bus!" I mumbled to myself.

Completely frustrated I walked on, refusing to go back to him, even though it was probably the safest and best option.

I glanced up at the sky, watching as the stars started to make their twinkling appearance in the sky.  They gave me hope, the stars among so much darkness, still shines brightly and tell their own story throughout history.

Sighing I trudged on.

..........

I reached a park and found a nearby bench and sat down. There was no way even if I wanted to, make it back to the bus. My phone was dead and I was absolutely starving.  I looked into my bag and found some extra cash and walked a crossed from where the bench was.

There was a small vending machine placed along the streets, picking the first thing I saw, I quickly grabbed my food and walked away. The ally next to me gave me chills, giving me more of a sense of urgency to get back to the park bench.

I had sat down in just enough time to see a fairly large man emerge from the dark shadows. I suddenly felt even more alone then I had felt before, grabbing my phone to call Cody- I realized it was dead.

Breathing a big sigh, I got up and walked the other direction. Out of the line of sight of the man just in case something were to happen. I was in the bad parts of phoenix; I couldn't be to careful.

.................

Soon after the man spotted me I picked up my pace, looking back at him I didn't know where I was going and ran smack into something hard. I rubbed my head as my world spun, "Dumb lamp post." I stood up but everything spun faster.

"Hey! You there!" My stomach dropped, I scrambled to get myself together and ran to the dense trees in the distance.

Sinking down to the ground I waited for the man behind the voice to reach me. I knew that this guy was no Mr. nice guy, he wanted something.

"Where are you June Bug? You know you can't hide, I have seen you and now I know you are here."

The voice clicked in my head who it was, someone I was hoping I never had to see again. I stayed silent hoping they would leave. They however persisted to look for me.

My head snapped and faced the trees when I heard a twig snap behind me. "W-who's there?" Another twig snapped, my stomach churned at the thought of what could happen in the next few seconds. What would he do? Kill me? Get back at me for what happened?

That's when I heard my name being called, I could barley hear it though.

"Ella!"

"I'm here!" I shouted back. Leaves crunched as Cody ran to me, I saw briefly one of the hoods of the people who wanted to hurt me.

"Ella?" I heard and out of breathe person call to me, the hooded man stayed in its place in the shadows. I turned to see a tired Cody running to me.

"Ella! I found you!" He said lifting me into the air, "Thanks! Could you- put me down now?" I said laughing. "Oh, right." He said setting me down. He looked at me with a big smile on his face.

What happened next I couldn't see coming. I felt his soft lips pressed against mine.

Cody Brown was kissing me.

My best friend was kissing me.

I think I'm in love with my best friend.
