Everyone knows about the story of Becca Franko. She was the scientist who in 2051 went to space to continue her projects, soon followed by the 12 Arks as Earth was bombed with radiation. Although nobody knew what those projects were. The first one was the serum "Nightblood."

Becca created the Nightblood serum to increase people's resistance to radiation. The serum was successful but had an additional consequence of making the subject's blood become black. Only a handful of people knew of the Nightblood serums purpose and if it worked or not.

Those handful of people, were only two people. Becca and her lover. Her name was Liv Denzel, Liv was on Becca's crew. The two were inseparable or so everyone thought. The two lover's injected themselves with the serum and exposed themselves to radiation, confirming the Nightblood serum was indeed Successful.

On the day of the discovery, Becca reached out to the other 12 space stations to tell them of her discovery. After given this information members of the council in the space stations, they believed that this was too risky to inform the people. After that Becca was not allowed to continue her research.

They told her if she wanted the 13 stations to combine, she must destroy the serum. They banned the Nightblood serum from the ark.

Becca refused to give up her discovery, she refused to listen. Liv pleaded and pleaded for Becca to listen to the councils but Becca was too determined. Becca went to earth, giving Liv the request of never letting them find out she was a Nightblood, to continue the bloodline.

Liv was successful til she gave birth to a beautiful babyboy who also had Nightblood. Liv Denzel was floated for being a Nightblood, as for the child. The doctors decided to use the boy as an experiment.

For years, it became a cycle. A Nightblood is born, the Nightblood parent was floated and the child was used as an science experiment until one day, the experiment went wrong. Giving a Nightblood unspeakable powers.

Since then, the science experiment was put to a close and the Nightblood adults were floated and the children was locked up til they were 18 and floated and the Nightblood were now known as the Cursebloods.

For years, the Ark thought they put an end to the Nightblood bloodline, the god forsaken cursebloods.

That was until the Reyes twins were born...
