Chapter Forty Two

"It's lovely to meet you, Y/N. I've heard so much about you." The girl offered her hand out to you, her long pitch black hair flowing down her simple blue blouse as she grinned happily at you. You took it, returning her smile while June giggled at the sight of the both of you.
Eunhee was a friend that she had met while studying in Paris. They moved back home together and were roommates for about two years. Ironically, Eunhee also happened to be Kihyun's childhood best friend, and currently, his girlfriend.
"I can't believe my two favorite people finally met!" She squealed, pulling you both in for a hug, making all of you laugh with each other.
"Junebug, I'm literally standing right here." Shownu sighed, shaking his head at her statement, his lips sticking out slightly in a pout while he crossed his arms.
"I love Eunhee and Y/N, Teddy Bear. I love them more than I love you." She obviously joked, throwing her arms around your shoulders, sandwiching herself in between the both of you while sticking her tongue out at him.
"That's it, Kim June, give me the ring back." Shownu took one big step forward, making all three of you stumble backwards, about three seconds away from collapsing onto Hyungwon if Eunhee didn't pull you both to the side.
"Love you, Shownu." She chimed, throwing a wink to the unaffected man. He shook his head, but couldn't resist smiling at her.
"I love you too."
"Hey, Eunhee! I love you." Kihyun shouted from halfway across the boutique, staring at the suits that Shownu had picked for them, hoping they would help deduct but he should've known that they wouldn't.
"Yes, yes, I love you too, Ki." She rolled her eyes, looking back at the two of you with that exasperatedly amused expression.
"Wonnie~" Wonho sang, skipping over to the giant man who glared at the larger one,
"I love you~"
"Fuck off, you traitor. You have a girl now." Hyungwon pushed him into a wall, walking away to seek refuge at one of the only single people in the room.
Minhyuk.
You felt a hand grab yours, the fingers intertwining with yours, gently stroking the ring on your pinky. You smiled, looking up at Changkyun who was doing the same back down at you. He looked at you hopefully, using his eyes to gesture at the rest of the room, ignoring the blazer he was holding in his other hand. You sighed as you uttered,
"I tolerate you, Changkyun. Just barely."
"Hey!" He whined, feeling him begin to bend down and rest his chin on your shoulder like he always did when he was being annoyed but Hyungwon's flying hand slapped the nape of his neck, Changkyun's entire body jerking back, Hyungwon's eyes piercing through his soul.
"Not in front of me." He growled, walking away.
"Not our fault you're single." Kihyun teased, playfully punching the salty Hyungwon's arm.
"Stop it, Ki." Eunhee reprimanded, but Kihyun just gave her that cheeky grin of his. You looked back to see June clutching onto Shownu's arm as she always was, until she let go, making Shownu look curiously down at her.
"We're going shopping now. See you, boys."
"What shopping?" Shownu pulled her back to his side, spinning her in the process. You scoffed at him.
You guess he'd forgotten the point of this meeting.
"Dress shopping, Hyunwoo. Dress shopping."
"Ooh, she called you by your real name." Minhyuk teased, jumping up and down in his place while dragging Jooheon in to join his antics.
He simply shook his head at the blonde.
"Oh my gosh, can I come with?" Wonho asked, beginning to walk over to the three of you but Kihyun held him back, pushing him to his spot lightly.
"You can't go. You have to get your dorito shaped self fitted for a suit."
"Plus, what would you do with three girls? Watch them pick out dresses?" Hyungwon asked, placing himself in between Kihyun, who had been slowly inching back towards Eunhee. Kihyun looked unimpressed. Eunhee high fived Hyungwon.
Kihyun and Eunhee certainly were an interesting relationship dynamic.
Well, from what you'd heard, the two had known each other since they were six.
You'd yet to hear the entire love story but from what you had heard, Kihyun sure waited a long time for her.
"Both of my sister in laws can't be here on such short notice and Aimée is flying out from Lyon the weekend before the wedding. So, I just have Y/N and Eunhee with me." June explained to Shownu, who seemed surprisingly lost about his own wedding. You expected him to not seem so clueless. You suppose that June had done far more planning and preparation than he had.
"There's nothing like buying your wedding dress a month and a half before the date, guys." She bitterly laughed at the both of you, nudging you both with her elbow.
"When you get married to those nitwits, I hope your parents don't bug you into rushing it."
You scoffed, but Changkyun simply threw his arm around you, taking the words that you didn't want to say right out of your mouth.
"Well, Eggo's mom has been begging us for grandkids."
Gasps echoed throughout the boutique room.
He didn't have to be so direct.
And he definitely didn't have to put it like that.
"Honestly, I think we should be planning their wedding instead of ours, Buttercup." Shownu joked with June, making them both laugh with each other. You looked up to Changkyun, narrowing your eyes at him. He simply raised his eyebrow at you, that satisfied smirk plastered on his face.
"Also, it's about time Kihyun put a ring on it. You both may have only been together for two years but you have like twenty three years of history."
You choked on air, making everyone turn to look at you. Changkyun gently pat your back, once again taking the words out of your mouth.
"She's probably shocked because she's only been alive for twenty three years."
Gosh, he knew you too well.
"Oh my god, what?" Eunhee shrieked, holding onto Kihyun's arm while shaking it violently. Kihyun was still furiously blushing from Wonho's previous statement.
"I forgot Y/N was a baby. Shownu hyung was literally in school when she was born." Jooheon chimed, chuckling at you.
You'd always been surrounded by people that were older than you, but it was weird that people were actually starting to notice it.
"I thought those two were the same age. I've been hanging out with a child?" Minhyuk laughed, looking to Changkyun.
"It's weird to know that he's not the youngest anymore."
"Yes, I'm dating a baby."
"You're more of a baby." You immediately refuted, trying to push his arm off your shoulder but it was to no avail.
Stupid strong baby.
"Send me pictures!" Shownu shouted as soon as June began escaping his hold again, grabbing Eunhee from Kihyun and gesturing towards the door as soon a she looked at you.
"Shownu, we can't send you pictures. The point is for it to be a surprise." You ducked, managing to unloop yourself from Changkyun's hold. He whined loudly, grabbing at you while you skipped over to your friends.
"Send me pictures then." Changkyun looked to you, his eyebrows furrowing as soon as June linked arms with you, beginning to head out the door.
"Of June?"
"Of you. You're trying on bridesmaids dresses. I want." He crossed his arms, cocking his hip, looking all sassy in his random t-shirt and ripped jeans.
You rolled your eyes, returning your attention to June as you all walked out of the boutique, heading into the store next door.
It was safe to say that you'd never been inside a bridal store but you'd never seen so much white in your life.
This must be what the gates of heaven look like.
"How much was your multimillionaire boyfriend willing to pay for your dress?" Eunhee asked jokingly, skipping immediately over to the fitted dresses.
You'd taken June for more of a princess dress type.
"He said to pick whichever one I liked best and to not worry about price but I'm not going over five thousand." June immediately responded, going over to speak to the specialist. You stood awkwardly, seeking refuge beside Eunhee since you were more than confused on what to do. She giggled at you, most likely noticing what you were doing as she examined your expression.
You probably looked like a lost puppy.
"You're so cute." She cooed, turning you both back towards June who was smiling at the two of you. June skipped over, her short hair bopping up and down with each step she took, obviously giddy with excitement.
"Do you have an idea on what you want?" You asked, gesturing to all the white dresses you were being surrounded by.
It was quite literally blinding.
There was nobody else in the store other than you three and a few of the employees. You'd like to think that Shownu just booked out the entire place since there was no one around in either of the two areas of the boutique.
June shook her head at your question, her beautifully manicured fingers trailing along the fabric of each of the dresses while she inspected them.
"I'm open to anything. Just as long as Shownu likes it."
"Shownu likes everything you put on your gorgeous self. He's completely whipped for you." Eunhee giggled, picking out one of the dresses that she'd been staring at for a while, handing it to June before pointing towards the staff member that was ready to escort her to the room. June thanked Eunhee, happily skipping back over to the employee and heading straight into the dressing room.
You hadn't seen June with so much pep in her step.
Another of the employees had brought you to a small couch in front of a small catwalk like structure. They offered you both coffees but you passed.
Obviously.
"You know, Changkyun smiled at me for the first time today." Eunhee whispered to you as soon as you both settled down on the black leather couch. Hearing his name instantly caught your attention, and she seemed more than amused at the fact.
"He never took a liking to me. I don't know if it's because Kihyun officially introduced me to him until after his last relationship but I swear to god, every time he'd look at me he'd just glare." Eunhee laughed, her sides of her eyes crinkling at her own little anecdote.
Honestly, he was such a sassy little brat. You weren't even surprised.
"We'd met a few times before, but he'd never paid attention to me since he was so caught up with... you know."
"I know."
Rena.
"After that, it was like he hated my guts. Like, I get it buddy, you got your heart broke, but can you not look at me like I'm the Black Plague." She nudged your shoulder, her eyes turning up even more with each laugh she let out.
She was like a really cool older sister.
No wonder Kihyun waited for a person like her.
"You're a cute one, Y/N. You both are so different yet so similar at the same time." She rested her hand on your shoulder but you both looked forward at the sound of heels clicking on the wooden catwalk.
Your eyes widened at the sight of none other than Kim June, in a wedding dress, and somehow managing to look even more gorgeous than she always does.
The dress was what you believed was a mermaid style, the white lace cloth sticking right to her body as the trail draped beautifully behind her. The sleeves were embroidered lace and hung at the top of her forearm, the embroidering continuing all across the bodes of the dress.
"You look stunning." You gasped, pulling out your phone and immediately snapping ten thousand pictures of the surprisingly shy June.
Your friends were so pretty it was unreal.
"Mademoiselle, aren't you looking astonishing today?" Eunhee remarked, clasping her hands together as you both admired the woman standing on the small platform in front of you.
"She's practically Madame." You corrected, making both Eunhee and June look at you with pure delight on their face.
"You've got to learn French. We need to be able to spill about the guys without them knowing."
"Oui." You giggled, making the three of you burst out into laughter before the attention made its way back to the guest of honor.
"Do you like it?" Eunhee asked, which made June's smile fade just slightly. Probably because Eunhee had been the one that picked it. June held her hands at her waist, looking down at herself judgmentally.
You'd seen that look on your own face multiple times.
June looked gorgeous to you, and most likely to everyone else on the planet.
She was so pretty, it was annoying.
"It reminds me of college." She put it simply, her fingers trailed down the side of the dress slowly before she lifted her head straight,
"It's pretty, but maybe not this one." June smiled softly, looking directly to you.
"Why don't you pick one for me? You do runway shows. I'd expect you have some special style tips."
"June, you didn't have to put the pressure on me." You giggled awkwardly, staring around at the somewhat small store that was somehow filled with dresses.
"Plus, I only walked one once."
"I don't care. I trust in you."
Eunhee nudged you out into the dresses and you mindlessly stared at them, running your hands through the fabric and pulling one out every now and then to check. The lace tickled your hands each time your fingers grazed it.
You grabbed a dress, a long flowy one with embroidered lace sleeves, it was floor length and you didn't know, you just had a good feeling about it.
You handed it to the specialist who was waiting patiently for you to pick, sparing you a small smile.
Hopefully, June didn't despise it.
You flopped back down next to Eunhee, who was holding your phone for you to take. You didn't realize you left it on the couch.
"Your little Danny Bear has been texting you." She teased, and your eyes widened at her words.
You really should change that contact name. You graciously took your phone from her, unlocking it to see what texts you could've received this time.
