Chapter Forty Three

"You didn't take a picture? Not even one? No group picture? Nothing?" Changkyun asked while dragging to back towards his car, pulling your sunglasses and hat farther down. You looked back towards Jooheon and Wonho, who were struggling to catch up to the both of you who sped to Changkyun's car after getting the dresses and suits ordered. Jooheon and Wonho were carpooling with you both since Shownu and June were doing wedding stuff and both Kihyun and Eunhee were heading to different places. Hyungwon was an option, but he was too petty to let Wonho in and Minhyuk had disappeared without a word.
Jooheon skipped over, his hand almost making it to the handle of the passenger seat but Changkyun practically teleported next to him and slapped his hand away, opening the door and gesturing for you to get in.
"Shotgun is for Choi Y/N, and Choi Y/N only."
You shook your head at him, rolling your eyes but you couldn't help but feel a hint of satisfaction. Just a bit.
"Hey, Wonho hyung, remember when Changkyun used to love me?"
"I didn't say that I don't love you." He sighed, holding his hand above the door, his other resting at the small of your back while he gently pushed you into the seat, minding your head so it doesn't ram into the top of the car.
Which had happened before.
You couldn't help but notice the graying clouds in the sky, especially on such a beautiful day. You hadn't checked the forecast today.
"It's the same thing." Jooheon huffed as Changkyun closed your door, waiting until he got into the car too to take off his sunglasses.
"So, you seriously didn't take any pictures? At all?" Changkyun asked again and, making you shake your head at him, watching as he groaned desperately.
"I told you that I wanted pictures."
"Then you shouldn't have been annoying about it." You instantly argued back, cracking a smile at how unnecessarily entertaining this was.
"That's not fair, Eggo. Put the dress back on." He demanded with a pout. Wonho and Jooheon watched with a mix of fear and confusion in the back seat, practically leaning up against each other.
"Kyun, we ordered it and you'll see me in it during the wedding. I don't have it on me."
"Go back in and get it. We have plans today. You got to see me in a suit so I want to see you in a dress."
"What plans?"
You see him in a suit way too often. Nothing new. Though, it was your first time seeing him in a suit that definitely wasn't his size
His bangs going straight down above his eyelids, his lashes fluttered every time his hair got in his eyes. You couldn't resist touching it, ruffling his black locks with a giggle. It was soft.
"You look cute like this." You complimented, feeling the heat rush to his cheeks from how warm his face had suddenly got.
"Don't change the subject." He turned away for a second, smiling sweetly to himself before looking back up to you.
"I wanted pictures."
"And I want you to wear your hair like this more often. You look adorable." You complimented, your hand still stroking his hair because you knew it would distract him.
There's a lot of things you'd picked up over time.
A few tips and tricks you could use when you needed them.
It was safe to say, you'd successfully made Changkyun blush, hearing the snickers from Wonho and Jooheon.
"Eggo, this is manipulation." He said softly, trying to pull your hand away from his head, but you simply walked your fingers down to his neck, watching him freeze up as soon as you did.
Bingo.
"Stop it." Changkyun lowly muttered, holding your wrist and making you laugh at how flustered he was.
"Now, Im Changkyun, are you going to stop being annoying?"
"I'm not being annoying."
"You're being annoying."
Changkyun glared at Wonho's cheeky grin.
You turned his head with your finger leaning in closer with your furrowed brows,
"Are you going to stop being annoying?"
"Are you going to shut up and kiss me?" He smirked, making you instantly pull away, grabbing your hat and sunglasses.
"I'm walking back. Talk to me when you're normal again." You began to open the door of the car but his hand wrapped around your wrist, harshly pulling you back, flicking the sunglasses off and throwing the hat back, hitting Wonho in the face probably not accidentally. He yelped at the impact.
"Okay, okay. I'll stop bugging you about it." He surrendered, lifting his hands up slightly and then leaning back on his seat, finally actually starting the car.
"But when we get home, we're sitting on the couch with my laptop and you will look through dresses and tell me which ones you like so that I can buy them for you and we can have a fashion show." He rapped at the speed of light, almost as fast as he'd pulled out of a parallel park.
You were convinced he had been a getaway driver when he was younger.
"Changkyun is really abusing the fact that he's rich and has an actress girlfriend." Jooheon joked around in the back.
"Jooheon, shut up, you're rich too."
Silence.
"Wonho hyung, you make more than me."
Silence again.
"Right. I forgot about that." Wonho rubbed the nape of his neck awkwardly, laughing slowly at that.
"Why do you want me in a dress so bad? I wear them pretty often." You asked curiously. Sure, he enjoyed when you got all dolled up but it's not like it was something new. You did prefer to chill in a shirt and comfortable pants though.
Dresses were for if you had to and when you were in a good mood.
"Because I want it? Do I need a reason to want you?" He responded smartly, flicking your forehead. You glared at him, punching his side before placing his hand back on the wheel.
"Both hands while driving."
"Now you're being annoying."
"She's not being annoying."
"Would you just shut up?"
Changkyun slammed his hand on the center console, making the massive man jump onto the smaller one, holding tightly to his waist and whimpering.
You noticed his phone buzz from his pant pocket. You swiftly grabbed it, Changkyun not even reacting in the slightest.
It was just a random number.
"Who is it?" You asked, and without even showing him the phone he answered,
"Kyung's lawyer trying to bribe me to not sue on your behalf and cancel the trial."
Your eyes widened as you scrolled to the texts, and low and behold, it was just the same person continuously offering money just to go easy on them.
"It was stupid of them to try and bribe a millionaire." He scoffed, and you were just staring at him in shock at how casually he said that.
"Kyun, you do realize this is illegal right?" You questioned, and he casually nodded.
"Yes, I do. I send screenshots to your lawyer. He'll be using them as evidence against." Changkyun grinned to himself, one of his hands falling off the steering wheel. You didn't have the patience of mind power to put it back on and hear him remind you that he's capable of driving.
"When's the trial?" Jooheon asked curiously, to which both Kyun and you responded in sync,
"Day after tomorrow."
You actually had to testify. In the court of law. It was terrifying. But at least Changkyun would be there in the gallery past the bar. So would Taeyong and Yuta.
As well as Lila and your mother.
"I still can't believe Changkyun got stabbed for you." Wonho exclaimed out of nowhere, making you wince slightly.
Yeah, he basically did get stabbed for you.
"You don't need to say it like that. I was just trying to distract him until the professionals got there."
"And then you got stabbed in the process." Jooheon rolled his eyes at him from the back, making you laugh.
"I can't say anything though. I'd get run over for you, Changkyun." Jooheon chuckled, which made Changkyun snap back at him for a few seconds,
"You're going to jinx that, I've already been getting a fair amount of threats."
"Im Changkyun, what?"
And Changkyun looked as if he regretted opening his mouth. He began whistling, turning on the radio and placing both hands on the steering wheel and staring out front as if he hadn't said something totally concerning.
Threats? And he hadn't told you? At all?
He groaned as soon as he realized you were at the parking lot. You noticed his eyes dart back and forth, looking away from the entrance.
You could tell what he was thinking.
You placed your hand on one of his, squeezing it and feeling him stiffen up slightly.
"Go straight. Don't try to stall." You ordered, your voice almost sounding like Changkyun's when he was annoyed.
"Our baby screwed himself over." Wonho teased. Jooheon shook his head disapprovingly at him, slapping his hand over Wonho's mouth before he too, screwed himself over.
As soon as the car was parked, you practically kicked the door open, ignoring the fact that the vehicle was worth more than your life. You opened Changkyun's door, grabbing him by the wrist and dragging him into the elevator, leaving the other two behind. He yelped, trying to slow you down, his back slamming into the back wall of the elevator. You pressed the floor number and turned your attention to Changkyun.
He gulped, placing his hands in front of him almost as if it were supposed to be a barrier.
"Threats?" You raised an eyebrow at him, taking a step closer,
"Elaborate."
Changkyun chuckled fearfully, his hands hovering over your hips, his pupils shaking vigorously.
"It's nothing rea-"
"Changkyun."
"Okay!"
You grabbed his wrist again as soon as the doors opened, harshly pulling him out, your footsteps rough as you kept walking straight to his door.
It was the one at the very end of the corridor.
You punched in the code, holding him by the collar of his shirt and pulling him even farther into his apartment, pushing him onto his bed.
You stood in front of him, leaning your body weight on the side of the bed, your arms crossed while you glared at him from above.
"Okay. Explain yourself, sir." You accentuated jokingly, a bit more than annoyed at him than playful.
"I don't know why you're getting so worked up, Eggo. It's just some harmless threats."
You scoffed, his eyes looking you up and down while you fumed silently.
"The words 'harmless' and 'threat' don't belong to each other. You're a genius, Kyun, how can you not understand that?"
He watched you pace back and forth, your hand running through your long hair.
How could one be so casual about threats? Was he not scared? Or worried for his own self? He's brushing it off like it's a flake of dust.
"Can you sit down, please? My head is spinning watching you walk."
"Can you actually use your mind for once in your life?" You mocked,
"My head is spinning because you can't weigh the severity of anything."
Changkyun laughed, catching your attention, making you glare at him again. You narrowed your eyes at his grinning self, hating the enjoyment on his face while your mind was racing with thoughts and ideas that weren't all that pleasant.
"What if you get hurt again? What am I supposed to do?" You asked, your voice starting to get louder but you immediately caught yourself, lowering it. Changkyun softened as soon as he noticed.
"It's not like he can get to me. He's not in custody right now but he's being watched. And even in the unlikely scenario where that happens, I'll just punch him. Simple."
"Kyun, you don't punch people. You're a nerdy little whimp."
He slapped a hand to his heart, feigning in pain.
"That one hurt." He finally had enough of your pacing, wrapping his painted fingers around your wrist and pulling you down beside him. His arm wrapped around your shoulder and his head resting on yours while rocking you both side to side, his hair bopping with him.
"I appreciate the worry, I really do but I'm fine." He gently massaged your shoulder, your muscles that had stiffened beginning to relax.
"But what if-"
He placed his finger on your lips, shaking his head with a sweet smile.
"Don't scare yourself by thinking of the worst case scenarios. It's going to take a lot to get rid of me. Like? I'm just too handsome for anyone to touch."
He flaunted, lifting his chin up proudly like the brat he was.
Did he forget he got stabbed?
"You can touch me though." He wiggled his eyebrows at you, obviously trying to rile you up.
"Can I now?" You questioned, separating yourself from him slightly. He looked amused, slowly nodding with a smirk, some reason also backing away.
"Yes, you can."
You winked at him, and he looked at you in a satisfied surprise. He held his arms out for you to cuddle into, but instead you lunged forward, grabbing him by the collar and completely smashing his entire body into the mattress. He groaned, curling up into a ball and rocking back and forth in a fetal position, writhing in the pain he shouldn't be feeling.
"That was uncalled for." Changkyun hissed as he tried prying your hands off of his shirt but it was to no use.
"Be happy I didn't punch you." You dusted off your hands, letting him attempt to get up but as soon as he made it halfway up, you pushed him back down from his chest. He winced again, holding onto the spot where you pushed him.
"When did you get this strong? You're a weak baby." Changkyun breathed out, looking up at you with a confused expression.
"I use it when I need it." You clutched onto the black fabric of his shirt, scoffing at the man underneath you.
Low and behold. His smirk returned, and just seeing it made you want to punch him. It wouldn't do much damage but it would relieve your annoyance at him.
Threats? Harmless? Really?
Maybe you should throw him in that tub of toxic chemicals he said he had access to.
"You know this," he gestured towards your knees at either sides of his waist and your hands at his collar,
"This could be very misunderstood."
You pressed harder on his shoulders, pushing them are far down as you could until he started crying out in agony. Changkyun grabbed at your wrists, pinning them beside his shoulders rather than on them.
"Eggo, I'm more scared of you than I am of him right now." He took a deep breath, his own hands massing the areas where you had placed all your pressure on.
You weren't sorry.
"What does he say?" You interrogated, your fingers tracing down his neck, knowing very well even brushing against it would make him go weak.
The best way to get answers out of someone.
Changkyun shuddered slightly at the feeling, resting his chin on your hand, his eyes fluttering close.
"Just things about hurting my family. Jokes on him, I don't care for my family. I'd have thought my brother would be aware of that after all he said that day."
You softened at that, suddenly regretting lowkey attacking him. You moved yourself off of him but he simply pulled you back down, wrapping you snug in his arms. You were about to open your mouth to argue with his sudden action but he beat you to it.
"I deserve this. All of that genuinely hurt." Changkyun buried his face in the side of your neck, his arms comfortably placed around your waist. You stroked his hair gently, still kind of upset but you weren't sure what for.
Why were you so mad?
"I'm sorry. I was just angry because I don't want you to get hurt." You came clean, taking a breath slowly and patting his shoulder blade.
Your heart spoke before your mind realized.
You suppose that was the feelings that were running through your mind.
You just didn't want him to get stabbed again.
That sounded funny inside your mind, making you smile slightly.
"So, you decided that pouncing on top of me was the best way to express your worry?" He chuckled, not believing what you were going on about.
"I let my emotions get the best of me outwardly."
"And your first instinct was the hurt me?"
"I said sorry!" You whined, furrowing your eyebrows at him with a pout. In refute, he simply pouted back, his bangs making him look ten times cuter.
Gosh, he was so cute.
You weren't even exaggerating he was adorable.
"Wait here." You muttered, taking his arms and throwing them to the side as you jumped out of the bed. Changkyun shot up, grabbing at you, rather needy.
"But my hug." He complained, kicking his feet at the mattress board. You rolled your eyes, placing your finger at your lips, shushing him.
He complied.
Surprisingly.
You waddled into the kitchen, rummaging through the drawers, knowing that he'd kept them in one of them some morning not too long ago. Your fingers grazed over a tiny glass bottle, and you curiously picked it up.
The label read "Amatoxin" and the small bottle was decorated with a skull. You carefully placed it down, not even wanting to know why Changkyun just had a bottle of poison in his kitchen. You opened the drawer underneath it, smiling as soon as you grabbed it.
His glasses.
Your favorite of his accessories.
You waddled back into the room, throwing yourself in front the him, gently pushing him back. You sat in front of him, brushing his hair forward.
"Take your contacts out."
He did as he was told.
You looked away, so you didn't have to watch him stab his eyes with his fingers in attempts to get his lenses out. It wasn't the prettiest of sights.
When he tapped your shoulder, you knew he was done with that tragedy.
You giggled while you placed the gold circle glasses on him, fawning as soon as he scrunched his nose to adjust them.
"Yer a wizard, Danny."
The scary aura he normally gave off had completely vanished as soon as his bangs hung low on his forehead, covering it. Now, he just looked like Harry Potter from the first movie.
Nerdy and youthful.
Except this Daniel was actually adorable.
Sorry, Daniel Radcliffe.
"Oh my gosh, baby!" You squealed, throwing yourself in the space between his legs and cupping his cheeks. Changkyun blushed furiously, his hands placing themselves on top of yours, trying to pull them off but you kept it there, giggling in some strange sort of ecstasy.
He looked like a really cute little kid.
You certainly weren't used to it. But you loved it.
"Are you calling me baby? Or are you saying I look like a baby?" Changkyun chuckled, feeling his heart race at the close proximity between you both.
"Personally, I like the first option." He suggested, wondering if you were going to change his mind. You would immediately shut down his fantasy but you didn't want to break a cutie.
"Whatever you want to believe, Kyun."
"Then I will believe that you called me baby, baby." You rolled your eyes while he adjusted you on the lap you didn't realize you were on, your legs dangling behind his back.
"Genuinely though, for the love of god, please start wearing your hair like this more when we're alone. It's adorable."
Changkyun's blush had yet to disappear as you continuously spilled compliments about his appearance. He should be used to compliments. People compliment him every day of his life.
"Why alone? Why did you have to specify that?" He questioned, lifting his glasses higher on his nose bridge with a scrunch of his nose again, making you squeal quietly.
"My special treat. I don't want anyone else to see you looking this cute." You retorted possessively. Changkyun's clinginess was definitely rubbing off on you. He chuckled, admiring you as he did, pressing his forehead to yours for a brief moment, his heat transferring to you.
He was always so warm, it was no fair.
"Did we switch roles today? I feel like we did." He tilted his head to the side while asking, making you melt right then and there.
He looked like a puppy.
"You're literally so cute. Stop it." You squished his pink cheeks again, admiring him in silence. You moved his luscious hair out of his face, seeing that it was tickling him slightly. You ran your hand through it, feeling his heart race as soon as your other traveled down to it.
That was precious.
You lifted yourself gently, and you couldn't help but place a quick kiss on the tip of his nose, immediately sitting back down and resting your chin on his shoulder, pretending as if nothing had happened.
"Are you scared?" Changkyun asked out of the blue, and you could feel the metal of his ring go up and down your back in a comforting sort of way.
"Of what?" You asked back, your arms dangling loosely over Changkyun's shirt.
"The trial. I would assume you're scared, Eggeles." He gently caressed your hand, making you sigh.
"You didn't have to remind me, Kyun."
"Sorry, Princess." He apologized, obviously using the nicknames to try and get you to ignore his mistake.
And to think you'd almost forgotten for a second there.
You lifted yourself from being perched on him, looking up at him hopefully.
"You're going to be there, right?" You pouted, your bottom lip quivering lightly at the thought of being alone. Changkyun softened, resting his hands on your shoulder and pulling you closer on his thighs and craning his neck down a bit just so that you could meet his gaze.
"I cancelled all my plans for the day, as well as the day after, and the day after that... and the day after that." He listed, chuckling as he progressed. You couldn't help but giggle along with him.
"I'll be sitting right there. If you get nervous just look at me. It'll be okay." Changkyun assured, nodding at you, waiting for you to nod back.
You did.
And you engulfed him in the most grateful embrace you could give, pressing your cheek to his chest while he simply wrapped his arms around your back, rhythmically patting it almost to lull you to calmness.
"What did I do to deserve your annoyingly amazing self?" You muttered, feeling his chest rise up and down as he laughed at you, the movement comforting.
"I'm taking that as a compliment."
"It is a compliment, idiot."
"Does it hurt that much to call me something nice?" Changkyun's bottom lip poked out slightly, his glasses falling off the side of his beet red ears. You grinned, feeling sad as you took the glasses off, beginning to get up off of him but he grabbed you by the waist and pulled you back down, taking the glasses and throwing them into a random open drawer.
You slapped his arm in horror at his action.
You were pretty sure those glasses were Gucci.
You get that he's a millionaire but those glasses were probably a couple hundred at least.
At least.
"Today's you're lucky day. I'll stop calling you whatever. Take your pick. I'll call you that for the rest of the day."
Changkyun beamed, his teeth shining under the dimmed sunlight that was coming in through his window, hearing the soft pattering of the rain that was beginning to fall. His eyes shined with surprise and satisfaction while a few chuckles escaped his beautiful lips.
"Baby. Call me baby."
"By EXO."
"You're dating a Monsta X member, don't talk about other boy groups." He waved his finger at you, disappointed at the mention.
Not your fault that EXO was so good.
"Sorry." You paused, teasingly walking your hands up his arms before emphasizing your next word,
"Baby."
Changkyun's entire body sparked up with so much energy that he was practically shaking underneath you. He was a giggling mess while he hid his head in the crook of your neck, his hot breath and occasional brushing of the lips sent you into the same overdrive he was on.
Except internal.
He perked up, shooting up so his face was back in front of you and his eyes glistening with an unnecessary amount of playfulness.
It's like the hair had brought out the child in him.
"Do you want to dance?"
"What?"
You watched curiously as he lifted you up, placing you on the edge of the bed as he dashed into his walk in closet, sparing a quick glance out the window. You crawled to the other side of the bed, watching as he searched around his closet. You could barely see the end of it, there were so many clothes.
You had zero clue how he picked out clothes in the morning and you'd almost been together for a year.
You have no clear memory of ever going inside his closet.
When he walked out, he was holding a cobalt blue floor length dress and a matching suit.
Your eyes widened as he lifted you up by the arm and placed the dress in your hand.
"Where did you get this?" You questioned, examining the beautiful tulle and silk dress. It flowed gently down but the skirt still had a fair amount of volume while the bodice seemed tight and form fitting.
"I get bored, okay?" He defended, holding his own suit while he held his hands up in surrender,
"Sometimes I get carried away and I just... buy a couple dozen dresses for you and keep them in my closet so that we can match because I bought them all coordinating with one of my suits." He rapped out, running away with his suit and closing the door behind him. It only took him a few seconds before he opened the door again and peeked through,
"Meet me in the living room once you change."
And he shut the door.
This time he didn't pop back in.
"Rene Ruiz." You read the tag on the back of the dress. It must be a fancy brand that only people like Changkyun could afford.
You didn't even want to know how much the dress was. You don't know how you were supposed to repay him for all of this stuff.
You guess the first way was to actually put it on. Especially since he seemed so held on the idea earlier.
You changed, listening to the therapeutic sound of the rain falling, watching the sky darken from what was once a beautifully sunny day.
The rain was nice in its own way though.
It was quiet and more intimate you supposed.
As soon as you opened the door, you were greeted by Ollie, who was in a tiny bow tie. You awed at the sight, dropping down to the ground and cuddling him in your arms.
He looked so cute.
He jumped out of your arms as soon as he heard the footsteps, and you looked up to see Changkyun in the suit he was holding, and this one actually fit him. It was tighter around his arms though, but you assumed that was intentional.
Surprisingly, he left his bangs as is, not parting them down the middle. He held his hand out for you, beckoning you to take it with his gaze.
You did as he asked, letting him pull you up to your feet and begin to escort you to the door.
You tried to get your shoes but he simply kicked them away.
"You won't need them this evening, Ms. Eggo." Changkyun lulled formally, his step sophisticated as well as his tone.
You didn't question why he was leading you out of the house with no shoes and in ball room outfits but you decided to trust in Changkyun.
This was either going to end up a tragedy or not too bad.
"Where are you taking me?" You asked as you both got in the elevator, Changkyun looking to you briefly to make sure you were okay and then continuing to explain himself.
"And I know you've been stressed with script reading, and advertising, and being a bridesmaid, and the trial." He began, listing as you both got off at the floor above the lobby. It was just a floor of amenities, you'd never really had to visit it.
"So?" You urged, wanting him to get to the point already.
And he did.
"We're dancing in the rain."
"What?"
"We're dancing in the rain." He repeated, grabbing your hand and running out onto the courtyard, the gentle droplets of rain soaking into your skin as soon as you stepped out of the safety of the inside.
"This also counts as my treat for you completely annihilating me on my own bed. That hurt." Changkyun complained as the water drenched his hair and clothes, and you were simply jumping around at the feeling of the wet grass of the courtyard.
You couldn't say you'd ever willingly gone outside in the rain. You'd always avoided it.
There was no one outside, obviously.
You both were in your own little world with no one else past the botanical walls that covered the apartment complexes private areas.
It was just the two of you.
Changkyun let go of your hand for a few moments, running over to a small gazebo at the side, pulling out his phone that was in his pocket and a small speaker that had somehow fit in the depths of it too. He pressed a few buttons and you watched as the cold serene emptiness slowly melted into the sound of warm piano chords and vibe like bass strums, yet it still didn't cancel out the sound of the rain pattering on the green grass. Instead it complimented the sound, making everything about the moment seem more unreal, taking you away into a neverland of serenity that you'd never thought you'd find.
Changkyun ran a hand through his raven black hair which was mercilessly soaked, pushing it back, revealing his forehead once again. The rain drops dripped off his gently tanned skin as he made his way over to you, looking far more stunning in the rain than he had ever looked before. He once again held his hand out for you, bowing down slightly before looking up at you with all the admiration and compassion in the world.
"May I have this dance, Princess?" He sang, the music accompanying his every advance to you as the rain soaked through more and more of your dress.
You couldn't believe he bought it just to ruin it.
"Yes, you may." You responded as formally as you could, taking his hand while placing your other in his shoulder, his navy blue blazer taking up everything it touched. His hand politely placed itself at the top of your hip and you nodded at him before he took the first step, leading you in elegant glides across the courtyard.
The feeling of the grass underneath your feet made you a giggling mess, your wet hair whipping around with every harsh turn that Changkyun made. His footwork impeccable while yours were wobbly, not used to the circumstances.
Despite your struggle to keep up with him, Changkyun's grin never seemed to fade, even when you slipped and clutched onto him harder in hopes that you don't fall, or when you look up at the dark clouds moving across the gray sky for too long and stumble on his foot.
He was the bright radiance in the muted serenity. His grip at your hip loosened while he twirled you with the flick of a wrist, making you both break out into mellow laughter as you pulled each other closer once again, letting the water from your clothes seep into the others skin, the relaxing cold of the droplets and the comforting warmth of being pressed together made for a different type of euphoria.
You felt like you were living in a movie scene, everything about dancing in the rain seeming so cliche, yet so surreal at the same time. You felt yourself being taken away by the soft cordial synth beats and the soul sound of the brass and piano.
You threw your head back while giggling as soon as you felt yourself being lifted a few centimeters off the ground, your flowy dress dancing behind you while you were being spun around in circles, the cold wind of moving so quickly against it sending shivers down your spine but Changkyun's cozy hands on your waist made up for it.
When he brought you down again, you couldn't help but admire him, wrapping your arms around his neck before gazing into his eyes. Those beautiful black holes that you could endlessly fall in to if he let you.
And he'd let you.
You couldn't help but be in awe of every small detail of him. The way his drenched tux stuck around his muscular arms and body, enhancing his silhouette which somehow made him even more attractive. The way the occasional strand of his damp hair would fall into his face as he danced along the field with you in his arms. The way he'd effortlessly swoop his hand up, brushing it back as it if it were nothing but the small action made your heart pump faster than it ever had before. The way he'd whisper sweet nothings into your ear, drowning out the sound of everything else around you so that all you heard were his honey dripped words with his deep raspy voice. The way his fingertips trailed up your skin and setting it on fire despite the fact that you were completely saturated in the rain. The way he'd smile at you even when you were being stupid and awkwardly moving to the beat whenever he let you lead him. That smile. It killed you. The way his rose pink lips would tug up, revealing his pearly white teeth, and when he was especially happy, his eyes would fold into the cutest of crescents while his dimples would pop out of his cheeks. You'd do a lot to see him smile like that everyday.
He was so perfect.
He was so perfect and you didn't know how to tell him.
You both continued to sway back and forth to the music, the rain pouring harder on the both of you, finding a way to douse the cloth of your clothes even more, making Changkyun eventually throw his blazer aside onto the gazebo which you had yet to seek refuge in.
You wanted to stay in the rain.
If being in the rain was like this, you never wanted to leave.
Changkyun held you tighter, held you closer as he spun you around away from him but not for too long, since he reeled you back in after only a few seconds without contact.
"Did this help calm down your nerves?" He whispered gently, making sure he was close enough to your ear so you'd be able to hear through the sound of the heavy downpour as well the soft music.
"Was it a nice date idea? I saw the forecast this morning and tried to make sure we got home before it started pouring."
You knew that you made fun of him every waking hour but you could never deny how thoughtful he was.
You didn't deserve him in your life.
You could barely show your appreciation back. Just with words, or just with actions, you don't think you'd even be able to convey how much this one man could mean to you.
"I love you." You breathed out, holding him tighter, never wanting to let go because you were scared that as soon as you did, you'd wake up from this dream and everything would be miserable again.
You didn't want to let go.
You looked up at him, feeling the adoration as he stared into your eyes attentively, and you stared back, hoping that he couldn't see your tears through all the rain.
"Thank you for being here. You mean more than you'll ever know to me." You choked out, hoping that he wouldn't notice that either. You think he was too caught up in the moment to, which was a relief to you.
"The moon looks beautiful this evening, doesn't it?" was all he said in response pointing up at the clearing in the clouds, revealing the most gorgeous of full moons that you'd ever seen.
Though you know that's not what he meant.
Oh, how you loved that he was a literature nerd.
You watched his eyes light up as bright as the moon shining down upon you, the rain not slowing or stopping, or even coming closer to changing. It's like the world was prolonging this moment for the two of you.
Just for the two of you.
The sound of the rain hitting the padded ground continued as Changkyun began to lean in, and you did too, knowing that this moment was going to happen since the moment you stepped foot on the grass. You awaited it too.
He stopped, smiling to himself before you were filled with warmth, and comfort, and the feeling of home.
He was home.
That's all you needed.
And indeed.
The moon looked beautiful.
