Chapter Fifty Two

"Hey, babe! Look! I got my c- babe?" You heard Changkyun squeak as soon as the door to your bedroom opened. You were lying on your bed, curled up into a fetal position, rocking yourself back and forth in hopes of not falling asleep.
You felt the bed dip down beside you, his hand gently stroking through your hair.
"You okay?" Changkyun peered down, lifting your chin up with his finger. You smiled as soon as you met eyes, wanting to tease him for looking so concerned for no reason.
"I was waiting until you got back. I was tired but I wanted to make sure you got home alright." You explained, opening your arms for him to fall into. Initially, he raised his eyebrow to judge you but you knew he couldn't resist a free hug. Changkyun leaned down, resting his chin on your shoulder and pulling you closer to him.
"That's very sweet of you, Eggo but what's the occasion? Did I miss something important? Is today the anniversary of anything?" Changkyun began panicking, sneaking out of your hold and sitting up straight while he rapidly went through any past memory. You giggled, shaking your head while cradling his own in your hands.
"No occasion. I just wanted to make sure."  You pet the top of his head.
"Oh, your boot is gone." You noticed, pointing at the foot that didn't have that massive black contraption wrapped around it. Instead, it was just a normal ankle brace. Last time you'd checked, that was the only thing he had injured but they decided to throw him into that boot.
"Yeah, Leo took me in the middle the shoot. They told me the cast on my arm made me look hotter. I know, it's hard to believe." He bragged proudly, nudging you gently. You nodded drowsily. It was as if he didn't realize it was two in the morning.
"How was filming today? You look exhausted." Changkyun sympathized, his hands rubbing up and down your arms comfortingly. If he kept doing that, you'd probably fall asleep in his arms. You were trying your hardest not to pass out on him but he was just so warm.
"We skipped through a lot of scenes but we had a lot of stunt practice. My legs hurt." You giggled awkwardly, to which his expression darkened.
"You're doing your own stunts?" He questioned, not seeming happy whatsoever at the thought. You ran a hand through Changkyun's hair, mockingly pouting at him to make fun of his sour expression.
"I'm doing the ones that aren't going to kill me. You know I have experience in film stunts. I'll be fine." You cooed, cupping his cheek and making him look at you. You gazed into each other's eyes for a few moments, only for him to start whining again.
"I don't like the idea of you swinging on ropes and falling off of cliffs. You can barely twist open a bottle cap." Changkyun argued, clasping his hands together and squeezing them while he continued mumbling on about reasons why you couldn't do your own stunts. You yawned, feeling yourself get more tired with every new word that spilled out of his mouth. You'd tuned him out, but judging by his expression, he was having a blast reciting his argument. Maybe he should've become an attorney instead.
"They can't possibly let you do your own stunts. There has to be a stunt double. What if you're riding your car on a train? Or what if you fall off a building and die. Then what am I supposed to do? Continue living without you?" He continued, seeming genuinely disturbed at the idea judging by the horror that was in his eyes.
"I have a stunt double."
You yawned again, this time, taking the initiative to get comfortable. It was two in the morning after all. You wrapped your arms around his waist, leaning into his side and finally closing your eyes. Changkyun seemed confused initially, but eventually eased up, sneaking his arm around your shoulder.
"That was random, Eggo."
"Can we talk?" You popped in out of nowhere. Changkyun, looked down at you, and you could feel his heart stop and then race as soon as you finished your sentence. You laughed, patting his shoulder gently.
"Why are you all tense? Relax." You tightened your grip around him, smiling to yourself as you felt his heart rate slow back down.
"Kyun, I've been thinking."
"It's never good when you start thinking."
"Let me speak."
"Sorry." He sheepishly grinned down at you, ruffling your hair.
"With the wedding in a few days, I've been thinking we should discuss our own event."
Changkyun's eyes widened, pulling you up straight in front of him with his head tilted in utter shock.
"Do you want to get married?" He asked, surprised,
"I don't have a ring but I mean, I could go get one?"
It was your turn to be shocked, wondering why he came to that conclusion. You definitely did word that really weird. It was understandable but the fact that he just agreed.
That was something.
"Changkyun, I mean our anniversary. I wanted to talk about that."
Changkyun took a second to process before blushing furiously, his entire face growing beet red in a matter of seconds. You snorted at his shy expression, unwrapping your hands from him and cupping his cheeks in them instead.
"That was cute." You teased, laughing even more when he tilted his head down, using his hair to cover his eyes, turning his head to the side.
"Don't look at me." He complained, covering his face with his hands in embarrassment, pushing you to the side gently. Despite his mood, you still saw him peer through his fingers to see if you had gotten hurt. You couldn't hold in your laughter, throwing yourself onto him and wrapping your arms around his neck.
"You're so mean." Changkyun pouted, huffing in discontent. You shrugged, throwing a wink at him just to make him even more shy.
You'd succeeded.
"I just wanted to talk about it. I really want to celebrate with you but are we going to even be in the same place on that day?"
Changkyun softened, sighing before pressing his lips into a fine line. He met your gaze, his grip loosening.
"I don't think so."
Your heart stopped. You were expecting it but that didn't make it hurt any less.
"I've missed almost two and a half weeks of work, and I'm still attending half injured. I know I'll probably be gone after the wedding but I'm not sure for how long. I don't know when I'll be back either." His hands continued rubbing up and down your arms as they had done before, but the feeling of his arm brace dragging against your skin was the only thing you could've felt.
You should've never turned off your phone.
He wouldn't have gotten hurt. Jooheon too.
"I'm sorry, Eggo. I know how much you were looking forward to it. We can celebrate another day, hm?" Changkyun assured sweetly, waiting for an answer.
"It's okay. We can celebrate another day." You repeated blankly, fiddling with your fingers. You felt his hand travel to the bottom of your chin, lifting your head up so that you were met with his raven black irises.
"At least make eye contact if you're trying to lie. You're an actress for gods sake."
You hadn't even realized that your eyes had started to wander. You guess you were just a bit bummed.
Maybe more than a bit. A lot more actually.
"You probably have filming that day too. I promise I'll call you whenever I can, even if I'm twelve hours behind you." Changkyun tapped your ring against his, making you crack a small smile.
"Are we doing presents? Cause you're really hard to shop for. You own like everything." You questioned, wanting to distract yourself from your disappointment. You knew that if he had said yes, you'd have to find something in this world that he liked and didn't own. You wouldn't be surprised if he owned a villa in the countryside of Italy. Not in the slightest.
"Personally, I think you're the best present I've ever received." Changkyun cornily stated, earning a wince and a rightful cringe from you. You wanted to tell him to stop with the corny lines but you knew that you loved them.
"I'm serious, Kyun."
"Then, no. No presents."
You nodded, more than happy with his decision. You flopped down onto your pillow, curling up into a ball to get comfortable since you were both done speaking.
"We talk about one important thing and you're already tired?" Changkyun scoffed, staring down at you, who was hugging the blanket.
"I've been tired." You responded, tugging on his hand,
"Do you know how hard it is to be suspended in the air for extended periods of time? Plus, Younghoon is massive. I have to break my neck just to look at him."
You heard him mutter something under his breath, his eyes narrowing at nothing. You could already sense what he was going on about.
"Are you jealous again?"
"I am not." He sternly argued, crossing his arms at his chest. You giggled at that.
"Okay, so you are."
"Shut up."
You tugged on his arm again, this time more rough. He gave in, helplessly falling beside you. You pressed up against him, sighing as you peacefully closed your eyes.
"I wish it were always like this." You admitted. Everything about this moment felt so nice. It felt so sweet. But his ego was probably shooting through the roof from your comment.
Yet, you heard nothing but a sigh from him.
"Me too."
His voice was soft, it was solemn. It was as if he was reminiscing. You didn't know how, but you felt it. He didn't get like this often.
"If I could have you against me like this." Changkyun pulled you closer,
"And if we could stay like this forever. I'd give the world for it."
"Cheesy." You broke the mood, making him chuckle. You didn't intend on breaking the vibe but you felt it necessary to point out. You'd slowly absorbed his annoying nature.
"You started it, Eggo." He nudged you slightly with his elbow but he moved you back towards him, his arms tightly around you.
You turned around to face him, though he was quick to tuck your head under his chin protectively, his breaths steady.
"Make sure not to fall in love with Younghoon. I'm too old to grow four inches." Changkyun played around, his fingers twirling around the ends of your hair.
"Don't worry. He's not my type." You played along, noticing that you'd gotten his attention by the way he'd shifted.
"My type are men that look terrifying on the outside, act like a vampire because they hate the light, are sassier than Miss Piggy, but act like a baby as soon as I come around."
Changkyun laughed loudly, not taking offense whatsoever surprisingly and simply just enjoying the slight insult. You couldn't help but join him.
"I'm flattered at your view of me. I sound so attractive from your eyes."
"Indeed you are." You agreed, smiling softly.
You both fell silent, his warmth lulling you back to your drowsiness that you'd put aside. You were snuggly tucked against him, the rising and falling of his chest pushing you to sleep.
That was until you felt his arms leave from around you. Your eyes shot open as you watched him get up from bed, his own looking back down on you.
"Go to sleep. You've had a long day." Changkyun cooed, patting your head before retracting it. You grabbed it before he could get it all the way back, pulling on it but with close to not force. One, you were tired, and two, he had the brace on the one you were holding.
"Where are you going?" You asked, yawning. He simply shrugged, gently taking your hand off of his wrist, which made you frown.
"I'm going to walk around for a bit. I'm not tired."
"Do you have work tomorrow?" You asked, lifting yourself up, only for you to flop back down onto your pillow. He thought for a moment, shrugging again,
"I mean, yeah. I think so."
"Then lie down. It's two in the morning and you can't be tired for when you go." You argued, patting the spot where he was lying a few moments ago.
"I'm pretty sure it's in the aftern-"
"I'm tired and I don't have the patience for us to go back and forth. Please, just lie down." You grabbed onto the fabric of his purple shirt, pulling it to no avail. Changkyun laughed at your clinginess, bending down to pinch your cheeks. He sat down at the edge of the bed, scorching over and returning back to the position you once were in.
"I can't say no to you."
You grinned in victory, feeling yourself be lulled to sleep just with him by your side. You could tell that he's pulled out his phone and was scrolling through it but you couldn't care.
You just wanted to sleep.
