Chapter Fourteen
"Where did Taeyong go?" You asked Jisung through the phone. He'd randomly called you and you'd happily picked up since it had been a while since you'd gotten to speak to him.
"I don't know. He, Doyoung hyung and I think Ten hyung went out. Taeyong hyung said there was something he needed to do, but I've really got to go now. Chenle might kill me if I'm late for practice again." He urged, adjusting his circle glasses that were resting gently on his nose bridge.
You weren't even able to say goodbye before he ended the call.
Jisung was an interesting kid, but you'd known him since he was a child so it didn't matter to you.
You tugged your shirt that was tucked into your straight leg pants down slightly, picking up a small beret and placing it atop your head, pinning it into your hair so it wouldn't fall off.
You grabbed your headphones, putting them into the pocket you very conveniently had and slid your phone into your hand.
"Wow, nice outfit." Jooheon complimented as soon as you walked out the door. He was in the kitchen with Saera. Though she seemed to be doing all the cooking, Jooheon was very obviously hyping her up. She didn't seem to be enjoying it as much as he thought she would.
Yuta, Jungwoo, and Changkyun were all sitting at the table, eating their breakfasts while having some small talk.
"Where's Suhyun? Did she eat already?"
Jungwoo scoffed at the mention of the youngest.
"She hasn't even woken up. I peeked into her room and she was sleeping like a baby."
You giggled slightly at the thought. After living with Suhyun for a very generous amount of time, you'd seen how she'd sleep.
When she was asleep, she was asleep.
You wouldn't be able to wake her up even if you were having a firework show right outside her room.
It was kind of concerning.
At least she slept well.
Yuta was on his phone, it looked like he was scrolling through social media or working on something you couldn't tell from far away. Changkyun was reading through the script while absently picking up his fork and putting it in his mouth, whether there was something on it or not.
Pretty entertaining to watch.
You sat down in the empty seat beside him, the one in between him and Yuta that was for empty for zero reason. You peeked over his shoulder, slightly raising yourself up out of your chair because he had ridiculously large shoulders. He side eyed you, moving the script to the other side of him, making you pout.
"Why? I want to see." You whined slightly, making him sigh.
"There's not much for you to see. This is the episode when you almost get blown up."
Ah, right.
You forgot that happened to you.
Well, to Haeun.
You hadn't ever gotten almost blown up, and you hope you would never see that in your future.
"You skipped an episode though. We're filming 10 tomorrow, not 11." Jungwoo chimed in, leaning over from across the table. He was right.
Changkyun rolled his eyes, flipping back quite a few pages.
"I'd rather not read about you two kissing."
Yuta spit out his orange juice.
Saera ran a hand through her hair while staring Yuta down.
"Oh, come on! I'm not cleaning that up." She shouted. Jooheon stepped back from her, taking the spatula from her hand before she started beating someone up.
Yuta mouthed a quick sorry, throwing a napkin over his side of the table and turning towards the both of you.
"I didn't know you had to kiss!" Yuta exclaimed rather loudly, his eyes going from you, to Jungwoo, back to you, and that order over and over again.
"One of few actually. It gets pretty... romance after episode 10." Jungwoo awkwardly smiled, looking down at the script. You guiltily grinned at Yuta, who was still staring at the two of you in disbelief.
I mean, what was he thinking? It was an action romance drama.
Jungwoo and you had already done those basic things; holding hands, random heart fluttering, awkward situations.
But the two of you hadn't... well.... kissed.
You didn't think much of it. Though it did feel strange since you grew so close to Jungwoo in such little time.
It felt weird to think about it, but you'd kissed a fair number of guys. You'd done a few web dramas, but they never really hit it off. Sure, they gained some popularity, but it wasn't like you were Changkyun.
You weren't a household name.
You'd always become close with your fellow leads or background characters, but Jungwoo felt like a brother more than a friend. You didn't know if it was basically because he was connected to some of your closest friends, but it was just strange to think about the fact that you'd be... you know?
You didn't think too much of it though.
It didn't mean anything. You both were just doing your jobs.
Changkyun closed his script, standing up from the table and grabbing the keys from the kitchen counter, everyone was following him with their eyes.
"I'm getting a coffee. Someone come with me." He said, spinning the keys around on his pointer finger.
"I'm out." Saera said blankly, not even hesitating to walk out the door and go back to the house where all the managers were staying.
Wow, your manager was so dedicated to her job.
"Take Jungwoo." Yuta chimed in, pointing at the blonde who immediately shook his head at Changkyun.
"I have work to do." He responded. He didn't specify but he retreated back into his room quicker than Saera had walked out.
Jooheon raised his hand slightly but Changkyun immediately turned him down.
"You're going to drive me insane."
Jooheon slowly put his hand back down, crossing his arms at Changkyun and just pouting. Changkyun didn't seem to care in the least.
"I'll just go with you." You reluctantly sighed, getting up from your chair and adjusting your beret that was leaning from your head.
"I don't want you to come with me though."
"Neither does anyone else, Changkyun. But I'm being nice so I've offered."
He opened his mouth to argue but the words weren't spilling out like they normally would. He just groaned and picked up your purse, throwing it at you. You barely managed to catch it.
"Let's go."
And you did.
You didn't drive very far because city traffic was not fun, so you parked somewhere and walked the rest of the way. You stuck close to Changkyun's side since he seemed to know exactly where he was going and you did not have the energy to not trust in him. The two of you walked in silence. You honestly didn't know what to say to him.
How was your day? It just started but how was it?
That was just stupid.
You both walked more and you finally escaped the crowded square. You ended up on a quiet street, the buildings were tall but cozy. They weren't sky scrapers, but they were just limestone and brick buildings. Each of of them were painted a different bright color and they blocked the bright Italian sun, with only some small pockets of lights shining through. The sound of his dress shoes and your flats hitting the brick streets made it seem even more serene.
You smiled while taking it all in. It was beautiful. You looked up at Changkyun, who was also gazing fondly at the view.
It was calm.
You pulled out your phone stopping and letting him walk in front of you, watching as he turned around. You quickly snapped a picture.
Changkyun simply rolled his eyes at you.
"Really, Eggo?" He sighed, to which you nodded with a grin.
He was aesthetic.
You mean, it was aesthetic.
The road was aesthetic.
He left you behind, continuing to walk away from you. You pulled out your earbuds from your pant pocket, plugging it into your phone. You skipped towards Changkyun, placing one of the earbuds in your ear.
"Wait." You uttered, making him stop in his tracks. He looked at you with confusion in his eyes as you placed a hand on his shoulder, tiptoeing slightly, brushing a piece of his dark hair behind his ear and putting the other earbud in his ear.
You hit the play button on your phone, turned off the phone and pointed in front of you.
You began walking but Changkyun didn't move. The earbud fell out of your ear. You turned back, staring confusedly at the frozen Changkyun. He was still in spot and his eyes were both on you and avoiding you.
You didn't even know how on earth that worked.
You waved your hand in front of his face, snapping a couple of times before he blinked, shook his head slightly, and looked back down at you. You pointed at the wire that was connecting the two buds and turned back up to Changkyun.
"If you stop moving, one of our things are bound to pop off."
He blankly nodded.
He tapped your phone gently with his finger.
"The music isn't playing though."
You looked down at your phone. It wasn't playing. You swore that you hit the play button. You gestured for Changkyun to begin walking and he did, slower than before though. You put the earbud in and instantly smiled as soon as you heard the song that was playing.
Wine by Suran (ft. Changmo) (PROD. Suga)
"I love this song." Changkyun whispered softly to you, the corners of his lips perking up slightly.
"I do too." You responded.
You both walked, smiles on your faces, through the street, listening to the song in silence.
Until Changkyun started softly rapping Changmo's verse.
You forgot that he was an idol before he was an actor.
It wasn't long before you joined him, softly singing Suran's part. He looked at you blankly, almost in shock but you just simply continued singing with that grin still plastered on your face.
You guess he forgot that you were an idol trainee before you became an actress.
The song ended with the both of you laughing at nothing with each other.
You enjoyed that experience.
More than you should've.
"It's over there." Changkyun pointed at the petite little cafe. The black metal chairs and tables were sitting out in the sun, a little pink awning above the small outdoor seating area. The little string lights hung above it, though the lights weren't on, they still twinkled from the light.
It was literally the cutest place ever.
"Daniel? Daniel Im? Is that really you?" You heard someone exclaim in English.
Daniel?
You looked up to Changkyun who was grinning at the man that was now standing in front of the chairs. He looked Italian, he wore a small black apron. It looked like he worked at the cafe.
Actually no, it looked like he owned the cafe.
"Renz! Good to see you, man." Changkyun fist bumped the man, they both chuckled at each other. He was slightly taller than Changkyun, about the same height as Jooheon. You hid behind him, well more of peeked behind him.
It was something you did instinctively, but something you never thought you'd do with Changkyun.
Changkyun pushed you forward, making you yelp just a bit.
"My coworker and friend, Eg- I mean, Y/N." He said gesturing down at you.
Oh my god.
His accent.
"It's nice to meet you, Y/N." He held out his hand for you. You gently shook it, staying silent.
You were really bad at talking to people.
"I'm Lorenzo. You can just call me Renz."
You simply nodded. Not knowing what to say.
"Excuse her. She's unnecessarily shy."
"Shut up, Changkyun." You punched him in the shoulder not so playfully.
"I mean... Daniel." You burst out into laughter and Changkyun just glared at you. He rolled his eyes at you.
"You've got to tell me how he got the name Daniel." You looked up at Renz who gave you a sly smile. He offered his arm out to you, gesturing towards the table.
"Would you care to join me, m'lady?"
You took his arm happily.
"Lead the way, sir."
Changkyun rubbed his temples, slowly following the both of you as Renz lead you inside the store.
"I'm already regretting this."•—•
"I didn't know you lived out of the country, Danny." You joked at Changkyun while you got your makeup touched up.
"I hate you, Eggo." He breathed out while his stylist was fixing up his hair.
"Daniel. Daniel. Daniel. Daniel. Daniel. Daniel." You repeated over and over again while skipping around the dark set. Surprisingly, Changkyun began skipping around too, but only to place a hand on your shoulder, bending down and hovering a finger right above your lips.
"Shut up, Y/N."
You froze at the sight of him so close to you. That was incredibly unexpected. He stepped back from you as soon as you heard the director shout from behind the both of you.
"Scene 47! Kim! Choi!"
Jungwoo walked in. His hair was messed up yet somehow it looked amazing. His clothes were ripped unlike yours that were still somehow put together. Then again, Jungwoo did just crawl out of a cave after brutally beating up a few dozen men. Well, technically Minjun did. But Jungwoo was Minjun so it counted.
The cameras adjusted around the two of you. You didn't even notice Changkyun leaving. The director came up to the two of you, looking behind the main camera and then turning to Jungwoo.
"Can you guys adjust yourselves for a second?"
Jungwoo awkwardly smiled at you before wrapping his arms around your waist.
This felt so weird to you.
You weren't used to seeing Jungwoo like this. Or having to use Jungwoo like this. You preferred just hitting him and laughing with him.
"Should I lean in from here?" He asked the director, bending down from the left, his face right beside yours.
"Or from here?"
He did the same but in the other direction.
Oh, the butterflies. They were fluttering.
"Do it the first way. Let's try for one take."
Jungwoo let go of you, both of you taking a step back from each other.
"Are you ready?" He whispered to you. You slowly nodded, still feeling anxious because of all of it. You walked out of the frame, taking a deep breath as you reviewed your lines to yourself.
"Ready, Set, Action!"You ran into Minjun's arms, he faltered back at the force of your impact but he couldn't help but slightly smile at you.
"You're alive." You breathed out, burying your head in his chest, trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall down your face.
"I'm so sorry." You murmured, only for him to take your face in his hands, looking you in the eye. He gently wiped off the tear that was trickling down, but gasping. You held onto him tighter, looking worried for he looked to be in pain.
"I'm okay." He assured. You were still worried.
"But there's one thing that hurts. I think I got hit somewhere."
"Where?" You exclaimed, letting go of him for a second so you could check but he just wrapped his arms around your waist.
"In my heart."
He kissed you.•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•
