-Lydia's POV-

I couldn't breathe. (Why did this happen?) My sobbing tears fell uncontrollably as I pondered over what just happened. My heart ached, and I blamed no one but Viktor for it. Suddenly, I had a vile taste in my mouth and felt sick to my stomach. I quickly got up from bed with my hand over my mouth and rushed to the bathroom to puke in the toilet. (There goes my lunch) After cleaning myself up, I could hear the heart wrenching music being played across the hall as I stepped out of the bathroom. It made me even more sad, feeling the tears flow again, so I climbed back into bed and laid on my side, holding a pillow in my arms. I didn't know how I was going to overcome the anguish that was thrust upon me. Would I be able to continue working for the Bartholys? Could I even stay and continue going to the same school? As my thoughts lingered, questioning my future in Mystery Spell, I heard a knock at the door. When I didn't answer right away the door opened to reveal my friend Sarah walking in.

"Lydia, have you been crying? What happened?" she asked me after seeing my dreadful state

"Lydia, have you been crying? What happened?" she asked me after seeing my dreadful state. I began to bawl like a baby again, unable to hold it in, and sobbed out loud into the pillow I held to muffle my wailing. Sarah dropped her bags on the floor after closing the door and rushed over to me. Sitting next to me on the bed, she brushed my hair with her fingers, asking me to let her know what was wrong. I sat up and hugged my knees to my chest, rocking back and forth, and then spilled the bad news. "Peter, he.... He ended it...." "Wait a sec! He broke up with you?" I could only answer with a nod as my tears came again. "Sarah, it hurts! It hurts so much, I don't know what to do." "Shh, now.... Come here," she said as she had me lay my head in her lap. Having someone to confide in and comfort me helped to release the pain. Reaching over me, Sarah grabbed the box of kleenex from my side table and handed me a tissue. "You just cry as long as you need, sweetie. I am here for you." "Thank you, Sarah," I said between sniffles before I blew my nose.

Not sure how long we stayed like that, but eventually, my tears had run dry. Sitting up, I began to tell Sarah what my concerns were. She answered by saying, "I don't believe they would let you go, but even if that were to be the case, you could come live with me. You must stay in Mystery Spell and finish school." "Thanks again, I can always count on you." "Of course you can! That is what best friends are for," she responded while giving me a side hug. Continuing, she said, "Now, I hate that Peter made you sad and all, but.... I can sort of understand his point of view." "What do you mean? Are you saying this was a good thing?" I asked in disbelief. "Oh, no, no, no! That's not what I'm saying at all. It's just that I think he may fear my spell didn't fully eradicate his bloodlust for you indefinitely, so he's keeping his distance to avoid it happening again."

Thinking over what Sarah had to say, I came to realize it made sense. "I guess you are right, Sarah. Thank you for sharing that. Now, I understand his reason why even if I don't agree with separating. Maybe it is for the best, I don't know. Going to school is going to be awkward. I won't be able to sit with him anymore, but at least, I have you still." "That's right, you do! Don't you ever forget it either!" Sarah gave me a weird scrunchy facial expression that made me giggle. "See? I can still make you laugh," she acknowledged. "Yes, and it feels good to laugh. Thanks again," I said, feeling better already. Just then, my stomach began growling. "Haven't you eaten at all today?" Sarah asked. "Yes, but I threw it up right after Peter left my room." "Let me go get us both something to eat then before it's time for bed," she offered as she got up from the bed. Sarah walked out and left the door slightly ajar.
